To fix the bug in Flash Pro CS5.5 where you it shows 0 points, this is what you do:
Library - Point Display - Edit
Then change the "0000" to "0123456789" (without the " ")
+ this comment so everyone can see!

THIS IS NOT STOLEN! This is the AS3 version of Shootorial which is made WITH PERMISSION FROM KONGREGATE, and the original one is AS2. This is a totally different one.

I've already done the other tutorials and I'm about 3/4 through this one. I looked at how #8 will look when I'm done and it looks like there will be a lot of work in that one. This is the first set of tutorials that has helped me learn AS3 without quiting.

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I keep getting this everytime I add my own symbols and try to implement them into the library. the STAGE is what is coming out as null. As soon as I delete my symbols and import yours it works. I really dont understand why this is happening

Thanks, Moly! I remember doing the AS2 version of this series about three years ago, and was satisfied with the final results, but not with the fact that it was in AS2. Your tutorials really helped me make the jump.

I made my own PointDisplay field, and this is how I got the alpha to work:
points.blendMode = BlendMode.LAYER;
points.alpha-=0.05;
for a text field with instance name "points" in my "PointDisplay" MovieClip. I know it's a minor thing, but it can be bothersome....

Referencing EnemyShip.list from MiniBoss.as caused an error that the list is possibly undefined. I found I needed to move the list to the Game class.
