It would be nice to have an "ending" of some sort, once you get all the upgrades and achievements in the game. Like the song at the end of "Deadly Neighbours" :D

@warownslife: yeah, playing youtube music to this would be sweet. There are a bunch of songs I have on my playlist that I don't have on my computer and that I would love to use in this game.

Misses the one vital component of "pick your own song and play in it games" all that is really going on here is there is one of my songs playing while I play this horizontal shooter. Sure, I bet that the levels are generated based on the song, but to what end? It certainly doesn't -really- seem to matter, the game doesn't acknowledge the beat or tempo in any real meaningful way

I'd like to be able to see what exactly the upgrade does. I.e., how much health the health upgrade adds, how much damage, rate of fire, or even more shots that the gattling gun upgrade gives.

@Deathbud: mp3 is the type of music file that this game runs. mp3 players aren't the only devices to play mp3 files, it's just the most unoriginally named device. Another device that uses mp3 files would be an iPod. And your computer.

-Reads the enemy info-
Enemies are based on volume, tempo, and frequency, eh? Let's try playing my loudest, fastest, and screechiest song...
-Game screen filled with sharks-

This game has by far the best soundtrack on this site. Then again, no other game I played here has ABBA. From a play perspective, I found the game very well designed, with a low learning curve and a lot of replay value. The only suggestion I have is to make the copter invulnerable when he's respawning. Often I respawned in the middle of enemies and got promptly killed again.

@p4577 Yeah. I'm sure your hyper-sensitive ears can pick up the extremely huge difference between an MP3 with a bitrate of 320 and a lossless music file.

no suggestions, I know you'll do it right and well anyhow! You know I never say anything but the best about all your games, but this one had me nervous to try it! I think it's 4 hours later now and I'm just now taking a break!

love that you keep updating this changed my rating to a 5/5 with the patch i hope you keep working with the idea of a shooter based on music it seems like there is still so much potential for this game or one of its type

Zzzz. What a load of crap. Yet another half-baked crud-muffin from Nerdook. If there was any real link between the music being played and what was going on on screen this would be interesting but as it stands it's just some vague gauging of average volume level. The only positive side is that the graphics are cute, but it's in the same cookie-cutter way that all of Nerdook's games are.

Your current health should count as bonus even when you manually end a song. I was a little disappointed when i ended Dream Theaters "Stream of Instrumedleys" at ~5600 HP and got the "0$ you died" even though i didn't get hit once. Also, how about adding a submit score button so we can re-submit our highscores after the board-reset/in case we got disconnected?

i would suggest being able to play music from youtube (i don't know if you can currently) because i have no music at all. Just would be nice.

so how do you unlock all the weapons? because I've played about 20 levels (all with normal non-cheating songs) and i have only unlocked 8. if you have to get an achievement for that last one, then its pretty impossible (Due to the last achievement being unlocked by unlocking that last weapon) so, yeah. i would much appreciate if someone told me or something.

Good game. A nice thing to add though would be a small bit of story. Maybe say how Jacob got the Gyrocopter, and how robots that attack because of music got there in the first place?

I think Youre Characters Expression should change with the Song genre. I most certainly Wouldn't be able to keep that serious of a face listening to "Goofy Goober Rock" while brutally killing large quantities of fllying robots

Playing free bird through this game.... turning out to be an endurance test. Overall though, entertaining concept. Kind of wish the leveling system was better though :/ You rock nerdook! You and your crazy games... legitly the one reason I like Kongregate :)

Amazing game. I really like how the "thing" you're known for is the fact that you never use the same mechanic twice. Keep it up, your games are always a breath of fresh air.

I love nerdook's games as they are the most inovative games in kongregate. Although I wasn't fond of his previous game with the piano, I think this game is sure brilliant as it reverse engineers the music-game relation. You see, in an ordinary game as the scene gets more tense the music gets better. In this game, as you play a better music, you get the relevant action. Once again, pure brilliance from nerdook =)

Wanna know how to get the best combo? play a song that lasts over an hour...
For me, I played "A State of Trance Year Mix 2008," which lasts 1 hour, 1 minute, and I didn't even finish the entire song. xD
