Finished hard with no lives lost. Bomb and monkey to start, and from there it's pretty much bombs and tacks. There's really no point in upgrading the towers, since they cost almost as much as building another one, maybe more if you do both upgrades. If you need to use more than 2 tacks in any single level for the first 10 or so, something's probably wrong with your build. Enjoy the lag!

Ok, I finally beat heard, with 48 lives, the 2 lost being on the first 4 or so levels. For me I found, dont upgrade you bomb towers instead get lots. Dont use monkeys to counter black baloons, build tack towers near the beginning(preferably with road on more than 1 side) leave a few monkeys at the end for clean up if you need it.

fun and solid game. much better balanced and interesting than the first, i really liked how you are forced to diversify.

Some ideas; sandbox mode; bonus level for beating all 3 levels, fire tower?, endless survivor level, more tower upgrades (like double darts, triple darts, speed, etc.) for all monkeys, upgradable mines (landmines, spikemines, fire and icemines), maybe some way to combine towers (ex: spike cannon, freeze dart tower, boomerang super monkey, et al), unlockable towers, challenges (like survive 100, 200, 300 black balloons or only aloud to use cannons and tacks or whatever), color shifting balloons, one or two more faster colors, maybe a ultra hard mode with custom levels and maybe a pro or 1337 level, level with 4 entry ways, level where you have to scroll, moar supermonkeys, create a level?, ummm that's all for now.

3/5
fun, fairly well done, but a couple major things. 1. a save feature qould be heavenly, all it takes is one missed click with your spike trap and youre toast.
2. Hotkeys, esp for spike traps would be very good.
3. fix the mechanics on bombs, so that they actually hit everything in the blast radius, instead of one black balloon in a platoon of yellows protecting the whole group.
For those who care, i haven't gotten hard badge yet, keep going to about 30 on lvl 43

Anyone else having lag problems in the higher levels (43+) on Hard? Ends up having trouble registering my clicks/etc. Heck, even typing into the Kongregate chat bogs down. Until the last bloon leaves the field. (Lost the challenge on lv43 three times now :\ )

I despise this game .. I thought I was done with it after the card, but no ... Kongregate gave it badges so I'd have to play it again .. so so slow .. needs a "send next level" option like all the other tower defense games

1/5. like the original, it sucks. why? i hate this type of game, takes too long, looks stupid, boring. no save feature either. should be a save feature for a long game.

This could be my favorite non-DTD tower defense game. (or third, I am an onslaught fan, too) and when the badges came I was happy but also upset because I had already beat it and hard took me SO FREAKIN LONG. Alas, still a very very fun (and frustrating) game.

beat hard with 50 lives finally :)
what did it for me was the placement of the initial dart towers, also i got piercing for the very first one
cool game

it tells you how to beat the lead balloons in the game -.- and the super monkey is awesome you just suck at the game anywho 5/5

I give this 2nd version a solid 5/5, which I don't do often, because of the fact that you do have to use several different weapons in order to succeed, not just all darts like version 1.

It is possible! I started off with darts (upgrade when funds permit) and then started adding bombers around level 18, didn't upgrade until I got 5 or 6 of them in various locations. Upgraded bombers and then threw a couple of tack shooters near the beginning to bust up the small balloons that are immune to bombs. I used two icers too, but I don't know if they really helped that much. Once I got to level 45, I started laying down precautionary strips of tacks at the end, which I didn't turn out needing until level 50, I probably could have incorporated a few supermonkeys around level 40, but my system was working fine, so I didn't bother. Also, for those that don't know Laser vision upgrade (for supermonkey) which appearently can pop frozen balloons costs just as much as her does.

enjoyed it...and finally beat it with 50 lives left on hard
LobsterMobster it's because laser vision lets them break frozen balloons as well

Well it's definitely possible. Perfect finish on hard. As Massbeat says: bombs and boomers (though he left out the occassional spike spam).
Fun game. Actually makes you use a variety of towers to win. And I like games that don't have the numerical backend right there for everyone to see. Feels much more organic, less like I'm minmaxing a D&D character or something. Nuts to the haters who want to see "20% damage increase" and "pops exactly 3.78 bloons/s". Real life makes you figure out the numbers, so should games.
One pretty neccessary tweak, though: take monkey tails out of the hotspot. I hated having to wait for a monkey to turn before I could put a new tower next to it.

I get the feeling that lead balloons exist solely due to how rarely bomb towers were used in the 1st game. And, on that note, if lead balloons are only immune to 'prickly' things (according to ingame hint), why do boomerangs not affect them?
