Jonny I don't know what you mean - you should check out the Straight Pool rules - they're pretty much correct. Also, Cheese Cake, the opponents don't change their level as you do better or worse - it most have been a coincident.

really bad game, 1 is in straight pool it doesent go like that at it, its normal pool but with 9 balls instead of 8, and really, its bad controls 2/5

when you suck the apponent also sucks, and when you are good hes also good. If you pot 3 balls in a row and then miss the apponent pots all his balls and the 8-ball in next turn.

I agree that a coin toss of some sort to determine who breaks would be nice. Perhaps you could make a game option that allows the choice.

@Kantur, You can turn off the music and keep the background sound playing. You simply turn the background music right down - it'll mute itself once it's low enough. The BGM is the left channel when you hover your mouse over the speaker.
The right channel is of course the game sounds. The game also saves your sound settings, so when you play next time the BGM won't be heard - that's how I prefer to play it too.
I'll think about the who breaks first issue - I could just make it random on the first break. I didn't do this as I prefer breaking and almost always pot a ball from the break - so I think it's an advantage to break first.

@taylor84, you seem to have confused Straight Pool and 8-Ball pool - you can find the rules above.
Also, it always lets you take a shot when it's your turn - you have to wait when it's the computer's turn or when the balls are still moving... Thanks for your comment.

It would be nice if the 8-ball Rule Option for "Place Cue Ball Anywhere After Foul" would save permanently to the game save. It's annoying having to change that setting every time I load the game.

dacomb, I noticed it too. Just lost a game to Shakey Sam who have never ever before beat me. He made a 8-ball break which is kind of unusual.

Just an idea but maybe add a coin toss to see who breaks? Kinda fed up with breaking and then having the computer clear the table.

This is one of the most abominable pool/snooker games I have ever seen... Kongregate needs a decent pool game as all of them on here are awful.

Hi, I've changed the AI Players a little again. Pool Shark Charlie is still difficult but not as impossible as before. He'll make a few more mistakes, but is still capable of make quite high breaks. I beat him in a game of Straight Pool to 150 - which was pretty much impossible before. So, let me know what you think after you've played them a few times as it's difficult to get the skill level right. Cheers

Woah! I just encountered a ball that the game said was there, but the ball did not show up on the table. It still acted like it was on the table, but it did not show it on the table.

One other thing I noticed. Nearly everytime the CPU breaks they always hit the rack soft. Is that a common strategy in English Pub Pool? If it's not it's really annoying... Have the CPU put a little power into the breaks.

Also, it's really annoying the way the Choose Color Screen shades if you hit both colors in on the break. It seems logical to me that you should let the player see the entire board clearly so they could make a better decision as to which color to choose. As it is now, if you hit both colors in you'd better look quick and hope the text doesn't cover up a critical section you need to see. The first info screen is fine but the actual selection screen should be modified so that the choice buttons are off the table and the table is in full clear view. Thanks for all the hard work. I can't wait for RC1

NipponMonkey: I look forward to the AI update since I agree that Ronnie Rocket and Pool Shark Charlie are a bit overkill for CPU Players. I'm sure they're beatable so long as you don't miss a single shot off the break. I've played very few matches against either of them in which they didn't run the table if I missed. While winning every time is boring, so is constantly getting to the 3rd Tier on 8-Ball Hard and losing to one of them. If you're lucky enough to face Super Hands or Ding Lee then you might maybe make it to the finals.

ZOMG LOL....the cue ball disappeared when I was playing a normal game with Wobbly Jeff Single Match...the cue ball has disappeared completely.

Hmmm...the re-rack problem re-occured again. Score was 39-24 and the balls aren't showing up again, 9 turns after they were supposed to.

Hehe, all the players are beatable, but Pool Shark Charlie is well hard in Straight Pool mode. I like the hard players as they are a challenge, it would get a bit boring if you won all the time. Anyway, I'm working on a new CPU players AI system - I'll update it sometime soon, then you can let me know what you think again - cheers

Superhands is beatable ... Ronnie Rocket (virtually unbeatable) if you do manage to beat him ur usually up against pool shark charlie (WTF!?) unbeatable .... whats the point?!

Love the game but every so often it seems to crash when the opponent is "thinking".
I can still exit, change spin on ball and go into the menu but yet the opponent is still lost in thought.
Other than that this is top notch.

I assume you raised it like hell? The game is so much harder than before. You really have to hit every ball from the first hit till you have no left or you won't win. CPU makes 10-20 hit breaks at the hardest level. Impossible.

Great game until you get to semi's of the Pub games. The CPU is ridiculously accurate, gets out of every snooker sinks every impossible double, otherwise great!

Nice game, Physics are way off considering the reaction's on collisions, Also the rules say english pool. There are a set of standard rules for english pool used almost everywhere here http://www.epa.org.uk/rules.php. Although it says outdated the official new one's are not fully completed.

@Dragonlight, either you're still playing a cached version of the game or you might have a problem with your speakers! The sound seems to be fine with me. One thing you might like to check is if your LEFT and RIGHT speaker channels are working. When you pot/hit a ball on the left side of the table the sound is played through the left speaker and vice versa with the right. Also, if you hit the ball harder or the ball goes into the pocket with more force then you'll hear a louder hit or rattle in the pocket. If you still get the problem, I suggest trying head phones to see if you notice a difference between your computer speakers and the headphone sound.
About the re-rack problem - I made a small change and played to 150 in Straight Pool 3-times and I didn't get a re-rack error once! But, I'll look into it again...
