a strategy that i used in addition to cruisers but can be used long before then is to upgrade the production once or twice, buy ions, then give them pushback. during the battle, put one or two ions in each row, but also have everything else concentrated on one or two rows, so the enemy will be too busy with the swarm(s) to deal with your stray ions. any other upgrades and units are completely up to you.

a strategy that i like to use is that i focus on one specific lane, using a few of the mothership gun upgrades to cover the others. purchase the cruiser's emp, and for the one lane use cruisers as much as possible with only scouts to support. your swarm of scouts will have advantages against everything the cruiser is weak to, and the cruiser will quickly take out the two that are good on groups of scouts. any other updgrades should be things that benefit the cruiser, scout, or mothership. during the gameplay, you can also sneak in missles and ions on the empty lanes, and drones with the cruisers when desired. other upgrades that help are the mothership's rechargeable activated specials.

The Cruiser vs. tutorial level is hilarious! First, the turrets get E.MP.ed so they won't fire and then about 6 ion frigate lasers come out with plasma and these little red things, I have no idea what they are, and within seconds, bye, bye base!

easy farming of cash, first non tutorial lvl, spam ions right in the middle and send scouts to take out everything else.

Strategies are too easy to figure out, Ion frigates are far too overpowered if used correctly and cruisers are almost completely useless in comparison to their building speed. I defeated the awlon campaign on hard by using scouts for the first half and a combination of scouts and ion's on the second half. Support powers are also mostly useless because in most cases, if you do unit upgrades properly, you can simply spam enough scouts to counteract anything he does while building up ion's which are strong enough to take down cruisers and frigates with ease. However I did quite enjoy the game and I believe with a little tweaking here and there a sequel could become awesome.

Is it supposed to take literally forever to get anything done? 6 minutes into the first level on medium and I haven't done any damage to the mothership despite the dozens and dozens of ships I've sent out.

And what I mean by problems for weeks now, is many "badges of the day" have had problems. I've seen so many people complaining about it in almost every game for the badge of the day, and yet Kongregate is ignoring the problem!

@DonavonWhitehand. Yes, I know this. I've been constantly connected. Yet, it's refusing to acknowledge my progress. So, as usual, Kongregate has glitched badges. There've been problems for WEEKS now with the badges in regard to progress. I'm not the only person complaining about this.

OK, I've been playing on and off for HOURS now, and my progress still shows "You need 82 more," and I've been killing off enemy ships. So, once again, Kongregate makes a flawed badge that refuses to acknowledge ANY progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great concept, great graphics, great design - horrible difficulty. I'm sorry, but when I send my 5 drones with a company of scouts and have cloaking active as soon as they leave the dock: I expect the enemy to be non the wiser. On top of that, even when they come uncloaked I expect the enemy to have a unit limit. If I've got scouts fighting across all fronts, slowing everything to a standstill, I don't expect the AI to suddenly have enough missile and hive frigs to ward off a push on two or three lanes lanes when the AI isn't even capable of holding a defensive line against my basic scouts. If those concerns can be mopped up - then 5/5, until then: 3/5.

however i prefer not to stay in multiple lanes as this game does not have a swarm all lanes ability, i instead attack an area that has already lost a turret, as the turret acts as i temporary meatshield, aim for ones that are destroyed and wreak havoc!!!

Not a good first impression to see something that says "this might not work for you, do this in IE, can't be bothered to figure out how to use other browsers" - pretty much a huge turn off to see you don't care enough to either sort it in the first place or do five minutes of research

Okay... loaded Kongregate in an unsandboxed browser and that cleared up the sandboxed instance. Guess it needed real versions of the files to call into the sandbox.

After clearing the first wave I just build cruisers and Ion Frigates...works pretty well. And good game I enjoyed it.
