i think i understand the attempted concept. start with a population, then build it through the ages and use the abilities to help you.
on a side note. are we supposed to be able to change the vear variable? shoudnt the players start with a larger population so population growth will be reasonable at low levels?
and on a last note i think you mean beta (what people call a game going through testing) instead of a demo

I usually don't give 1s for a demo (swords and sandals series for example) if the demo gives a good portion of the gameplay and still is a good game. This fills neither.
