This game is way better than the 1st place one. You were robbed! (not to mention, the first place one is pretty much a copy of a website I've come across before, in which you place the same kind of arbitrary reflectors to bounce a ball around (albeit with no goal)

also i just wanna add that looking at the rating of this game, boy am i glad that the final placings in the competition weren't chosen by the idiot public!
I truly feel your pain in getting sounds to sync with the beat in Flash, it's something i'm struggling with too; it would be really nice if you did a little blog post explaining your method in the end of making all the sounds go on the beat. I've noticed for example how there's a delay before the music gets updated when you first place a reflector. Am I right in saying you use the StandingWave library to prepare the beat only when each ball is created?
Getting the sounds and visuals synced with the music was challenging. I spent more time on that than anything else in the game. StandingWave was a huge help. You're right that the beat is "prepared" ahead of time. The game looks ahead to see when future collisions will happen so it can add the sound to a ListPerformance ahead of time. I'll post a bit more detail on apparitiongames.com in the next few days. Good luck with your game and thank you so much for the comments!

this.. this is just genius. as a musician-gamer you have made me very happy indeed ^^
(also, having played all the entries, i actually honestly think this one should've won just for being i think the only entry where music was a very integral part of the game without feeling like it had been tacked on for tacking-ons sake. for example how everything fits to the beat so perfectly, oh my goodness i just cannot believe how genius this game is!)

The soundscapes on 1-5 and 11-15 are great, but 6-10 are sub-par. The gameplay is very clever; I love how well everything meshes together. All in all, this was a very well put together game and I think that if you perfected it you could possibly even market it for an app store or something.

@Moi7 There shouldnt be a mute button on the game since its for a music project so

SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!

@lokilotus I had trouble with level 5 as well until I stopped taking the direct route. Hint - blue first. PS And what is wrong with people that they would rate down a request for help???

You should have the option to continue to listen to the music even after the level is over, instead of automatically going to the level select screen.

Pleasant little game, the music works much more often than it doesn't. Much better than Drop, which beat it in the Child of Eden contest.

Deserves to be rated a lot higher! I can only assume that the low rating is due to competition nastiness? Interesting game, though a bit too short/lacking in features. I didn't much like the last level either.

I think my favorite music was in level 5. Only thing it needs is to not automatically take you to the level select screen so you can enjoy the music.

Thanks for comments everyone! I added level select last night. I also made some adjustments to resolve audio playback issues. If you're still having technical problems let me know!

also also, i want to explicitly praise this game for fitting the spirit of the contest so well. this is so much more impressive than the many games that digest a music file with an algorithm and excrete a boring shooter level.

Great game! Puzzles had a sufficient degree of difficulty (not being frustratingly hard) and I just love the quirks associated with the beats when the balls collide with objects.. you can tell when you get a puzzle correct by how awesome the beats sound! A suggestion would be to add a level select option and also.. I'm not sure if its just me, but I found level 14 to be trivially easy.. I finished it by using 2/4 of the given reflectors. Btw, good luck with the project eden contest!

Some really good puzzles, but gets way too easy toward the end. Also, a level select would be nice as the game got messed up and the projectiles stopped coming out and I had to F5. 4/5

Actually, playing it a second time with the sound turned up was very enjoyable - once I knew the solutions, the sound was no longer a distraction and added a lot to the experience.

Very clever puzzle game, enjoyed solving them. The downside is that the sound was really annoying when I was trying to figure things out. I had to mute it to play, which kind of defeats the point of the game, unfortunately.
