I'm feeling like upgrade chances are too rare, I've been going through with very few upgrades at all. There's plenty of stuff to spend money on anyway, but it's definitely odd that I can go through an entire world and not see a single blacksmith.

I would love some kind of Prestige System, where you can earn Skillpoints by completing Runs. For example upgrades for card values, shop discount, max cards, earned chips, health etc.

The wizard seems the coolest character. I want to play her. Sadly, she can only play the first world. The big boss (hexagon) is hard enough with other characters: trading punches as it sets everything on fire. But being able to hex everything every turn for free completely nullifies the wizard's playstyle which relies very heavily on storing cards, which you can't do with the constant, unavoidable hexing. If you use your storage, you don't gain anything and are just gifting cards to the enemy!

good start, needs more features of progression, monster health scaling needs to be reworked and be nice qol to simplify resources/remove food

the "cannot be blocked" mechanism is quite game breaking since there's no combat healing (atleast that i have seen after a few hours of playing the game)

from developer:"However, after your first run it will be 100% random :)"
so if we die in fist run without learning mechanics next run will be even more punishable?

it just does this idk if it helps

Closer to the end game becomes utter nightmare: your damage growth can't keep up with your opponent health, battles become 10-15 rounds drag. All the while enemies mostly become "if they hit - you're dead" because of hexes and charms. Thus only viable tactic - poison/curse(curse is better) + 4 round stun sword/3-4 stun by ability. And then they die. Slowly. And then you pray to found enough shops to cover your need in gems/energy.

Nice game.
Random things I noticed:
-Purchasing food from shops only adds 1 food, not the amount it says
-Scalpel is not spelled "scaple"

Bug Report: I cannot enter my email to receive updates because when I press the @ key it opens some sort of debugger, which then stops me typing, and if I press it again to turn it off, it makes me restart typing my email lol

Robsizette : in order to avoid starvation you may have to increase the range that you you see ahead and plan to find those farms (or buy food from any merchant at 2 gold a piece if you cant get to the farms(you need to chagne tabs to see the food btw))

having finished the game with all 4 now I can say that the unlock order seems definitely in order of difficulty. good job there. with the knight I kept using his equipment the entire game, the huntress most of the game with the thief I only kept the boots and with the wiz I kept all items but stopped using his magic missiles near the end. btw I love the detail of how you "convert" Duke to 5 food (needed it on a non huntress that just found him)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Very cool concept. What I wish was improved was readability (text is currently too small and verbose) and feedback when opponent uses an ability and when I get hit (like, bigger and longer screenshake when taking damage). Also, always indicate the penalty for running out of food, it would be nice to know before it happens.

Scrapping Duke only gave me 5 food, not 6. (Even so, I think you get more value out of Duke by scrapping him than by paying his activation cost.)

after breezing through on my first normal difficulty attempt with the knight, I tried the huntress: boy was that unnerving. many times I thought I was not going to make it, either because of starvation or not being able to kill an enemy. Finally I found the halt blade in a shop, allowing me to use crystals to stun instead of food, and where with the knight I never bought any energy or crystals, with her I needed to... badly!

Perhaps reduce the penalty for starving to "10% of remaining life". It's what I thought the penalty was to begin with, it makes sense as an opposite to the "eating food" bonus, and it won't kill you before the monsters do.

Feels a lot like dicey dungeon, but its clearly its own thing and very fun. For me, a bit long and click intensive, at least in part because the text is so hard to read, but looks like a good idea!

The concept and mechanisms around the "conflict" are great. Took a while to find the deck-building elements. On the whole it seems like the deck-building comes too slowly and the enemies have too many special abilities right away. I'd prefer a campaign arc that was a bit less challenging... or at least advancement requirements that don't include specific difficulty settings. (Who are you protecting the advanced levels from?) So, concept: A Game balance and progression: C
Sorry about the bad progression you had, we weren't treating first players any different in terms of randomness. But thanks for the feedback - in the next update we'll make it so you experience a smoother progression through the monsters instead of have it be completely random.

hmmmmmm just wondering why jacks and kings are not odd cards??
loving the game so far! resources seem to be a tad scarce.
Hint to new players... mouse over everything there is a TON of helpful information to be gained :}

Honestly, I feel like the food mechanic isn't necessary. It doesn't add anything fun to the gameplay or the mechanics; it's just another thing competing for your limited resources. I also question the decision to gate off the other classes behind medium difficulty when the difficulty curve between the difficulty levels is already pretty steep. There's a lot of potential here, but I feel like there need to be some tweaks.
Food is necessary for some of the characters we have planned. Maybe the punishment for starving is too high? We can reduce it so you don't lose so much life when you're starving.

Spending 2 hours getting world 4-10 with knight, I've been addicted to this game. Don't know how many worlds left so I just suspended the adventure.
Found these issues:
1. Setting button seems to not work.
2. Cannot give up (and then restart) whether in the battle or on the map. Maybe it should have been found in setting menu?
3. No relevant explanation for perfect kill. I tried to make it though I didn't know what bonus it would bring.
And it will be awesome if undo can be added in the battle.

Also, slight bug to report. I received enhanced hearts by praying around world 1. World 3 rolls around and i'm in a small castle with a church of hearts. It's showing the abandon faith/desecrate altar options even though they're technically the same. Just letting yinz know, love the game.

My 4th play through and I just unlocked the huntress! I thought it was impossible, but I did it. Getting a 2nd knight sword, and focusing on buying +1 card draws really helped. Also I think I got lucky getting a splendid sword drop.

This is Pre-Alpha? I mean compared to most other kongregate games this feels like a full release already! Fantastic game. Can't wait for when you finish it, would honestly throw money at you already if I wasn't broke T_T.
Also, I wanted to say i love the drawings. Very much reminds me of uncolored images on playing cards. Please, please don't replace the art style, it's gorgeous < 3.

On the vvandering alchemist the coin icon in buying is a { c } as opposed to the coin symbol(the buying confirm vvindovv).

this is really fun i enjoy the mechanics, not enough time to really play all the vvay through on a round(once i figured it out i can get through most things vvith the knight on medium).

Lots of promise. A little bit of a tutorial would be nice (it took me a few battles to notice I could use both cards at once, and I also didn't notice the character upgrades for quite a few battles). Also, the settings button is currently doing nothing for me... might not be implemented yet.
We're working on a tutorial. EDIT: We added a tutorial! The settings button should be fixed too. EDIT: The tutorial seems to have been broken for some people, it'll be fixed in the next version.

Great concept. I look forward to seeing it grow. I recommend increasing the contrast between the text and the background color on the cards. Make the background color for the text boxes much darker so it's easier to read.

Wow, that was a fast response! The size feels better now, thanks. As for the game, I've been playing a while and it has a lot of potential, it feels like the old-schools rogelikes where you start with short games (mostly due to fast deaths) and then you star taking the idea of how the game mechanics work and start lasting longer. I sometimes still have the feeling that it has a heavy dependence on luck, but in this case I think it may be intended, and there are enough elements and mechanics that can help you counter your bad luck if you can calculate your chances and know how to use them. Quite literally rogelike poker, loved it.

the game is smaller, but why is there a huge black space around it? this is pretty hard -- you need to keep up on food as well as health.. and that's not easy.
The black space should be gone now, if you reload. Sorry for the issues! We will probably update the game to make it easier, but try playing it on "easiest" difficulty for now, and see if that is better.

Still too big, yes... around 600 px width would fit the "comments/related games" part of the screen, around 800px would fit in most screens and my own screen is 1280px (around 1250px without the scrollbar). The game appears to be around 1600px right now... not sure if it has updated yet, though, since it's the first time I play. If it has, scaling to half the size would be neat, I'm testing it with a 50% zoom. Settings button also seem to do nothing.
