Ok just made it in intermediate difficulty; point:18 rank:E (and I did get all the relics). Anyway it was pretty challenging; I'll wait for the next chapters.

oh my goodnes! the boss's attack pattern is easy enough to learn but it is nearly impossible to avoid the electric ball spray attack. still a good game though!

I absolutely suck at this game... on any difficulty. Still though, I find a draw to it... Something that keeps calling me back after I lose. I love how the difficulties have been added since the original, btw. Uh, well, anyways... I give this a 5/5.

I originally intended to have no penalty for finishing on Medium, and a bonus for finishing on Hard, but then I decided to do it the way it is now since, after all, the ranks just show your level of skill at the game. An S rank - the highest - would be best awarded to someone who not only beat the game 'perfectly', but on the highest difficulty too, so it would rightly represent his supreme accomplishment. You can get S rank on Intermediate, which is actually easier, even with the point penalty, though.

All in all though, this is a very good game. It is fun to play, and I love the Nintendo Hard general difficulty. I am really looking forward to the next chapter.

When it comes to the boss, I found him fun, but very difficult. After some practice, I've managed to take him down while only losing two health-points. But that is incredibly difficult and requires a little luck as well. Perhaps consider reducing the boss health a tad? Especially when one considers how difficult he is to reach. For those who have a problem with him, I suggest that you memorize his pattern. That's the only way to properly deal with his bolt-bombs. Once you know the pattern, he becomes beatable.
------------------
Finally, I noticed that there's a ten point penalty for choosing medium difficulty. I suggest you do away with this and instead give a point bonus to hard difficulty (if there is one already, perhaps increase it? I haven't played hard as it is, well, too hard) as you shouldn't be forced to play the most difficult difficulty to get the top ranking, in my opinion at least.

So, completing it on Medium difficulty in approximately 20 minutes, with all four relics and six deaths still ain't enough to get me better than a C rank? This game is going to be harder than I thought.

The game itself is well-made for the most part, except for room 11 and 20 (I think. Please forgive me if I recall the wrong numbers). The problem with these two rooms is that, in order to pass through them without taking damage, you have to act pretty much instantly. Some foresight is also neccessary, so the first time through, these rooms will give you a lot of trouble. This is because of movement patterns. This is worse so in room 11. Perhaps either give a warning, or change the movement patterns so that everyone moves left and right at the same time, if you understand what I mean.

Wait, THAT room? I thought you meant room 16, room 10 is easy you just have to wait until the ghost is 90% in the other tile then go.

I applaud its difficulty but find it plain boring. I like the sprite graphics as I love old Nintendo games (says so my avatar) but I expected something more. Witty humor as always is welcome in Mardek and even this game but it needs that specialness Mardek has: originality.

People, if you seem to be doing poorly at the game, please try to realise that so many other people here have completed it just fine, so it is likely your ineptitude more than a fault of the game that is causing you to fail. Don't blame me that you can't have victory just handed to you like in most other games; you have to EARN it here.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It is NOT impossible, you people are just repeating the same stratagies on each room, in room 10 you need to wait for the large 3 piece platform to be at the top, then jump and push against the wall and you can easily land on the other big platform without dieing. and After I PRACTICED I beat the game on hard with a solid B and about 4 deaths.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Now, there's an actual kind-of bug thing. Around room 17, level one, I think. Two ghosts floating on separate levels with a floating platform over spikes. Anyway, if you go to the right before you go flip the switch that turns blue blocks off, you get stuck. You can't jump high enough to get back.

Efreeti is right, this is a bad game when the enemy routes are that badly placed so its almost impossible to beat it,so its X-tremely bad if its impossible...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I give up, this game isn't just "difficult". It's frustratingly bad! It leaves you a lot of times helpless to avoid taking damage. I died so many times in room 10 and 11 either because of poor hitboxes on the ghosts, falling on spikes and surviving but having nothing to jump back up on, or getting on the ladder only to have the red turret in the ceiling shoot EXACTLY where the ladder is. When the arbitrarily programmed routes these enemies take just happen to be on that stage of the cycle, you're boned, and there's nothing your skill as a player can do to avoid death.
Bad game.

Yes!!! I finally beat it on Beginner, and with only 53 deaths. Even after you get the boss patterns down, it is still hard to keep the rhythm for the whole fight and losing the rhythm makes you dead.
I was surprised by how smoothly the game ran ( I actually tried opening a bunch of tabs to slow the boss fight down after I started getting killed by the low heath patterns, in vain ), and it gives me high hopes for all the games you put out for now on. I give it a 5/5. These games will most likely never go above a 4 Avg due to it's difficulty, but I bet plenty of people will play and enjoy all the levels.

@CarbunkleFlux, you can find all the songs in this game, along with all the songs from pseudolonewolf's other games at the music section of his website, www.fighunter.com. alternatively, you can go strait here:

Being able to attack with either weapons while moving would make this much more fun! Good job still. Registered just to post this comment.

Sweet christ that boss was difficult; I far surpassed my death limit for hard mode.. But I FINALLY had his pattern down; the second portion of the boss fight was the hardest part simply because I needed at least four bars of health to.. experiment.. and I could never manage it. But FINALLY... I.. not quite eagerly.. excitedly? Await part 2. xD

Finally found the 3rd and 4th relics. Now all that's left is to get them all on Expert without dying too much and in under 10 minutes... Know what, I think I'll just try to beat Intermediate in under 20 for starters. :P

This is going to be an odd question, but do you have a soundtrack for this anywhere? I REALLY like the music >_>.
It's really high quality, professionally so. My biggest gripe is that the gravity while jumping is too rigid, feeling very unnatural. Sometimes it's like I fall like a rock, others it feels perfectly fine. I think fine-tuning the jumping height would be the only change it needs. 5/5

B rank on Expert mode... shameful, I know, but I really just felt like beating it instead of going for S rank...
Needs High Scores to be viewable.
