Under rating threshold (show) Pseudo, I enjoy the game a lot; I read in one comment that there are certain parts where there is no check-point between two hard spots. While it may just be me, I think that, what I BELIEVE to be 1:19 - 1:21 to have no check-point. I may just keep dying immediately before that check-point is visible though; if it is, then no worries. If not, then you should definitely consider putting a check point there - there are about three screens of spike avoiding while at the same time trying to out-race the moving platform without hitting ghosts. On hard mode, you have to be beyond epic to get that - maybe I just need some patience.. but god help me, this is a difficult portion for me.

Under rating threshold (show) satansFinger, it is condescending and self-righteous of you to speak as if your preferred control scheme is the only one that any sane person would prefer... I personally HATE games that use 'up' for jump because it feels clunky, awkward and amateur, and made a conscious decision to use a different key instead. Also, I only added the key config thing because of complains in this very comment section, earlier today in fact, long after the beta testing phase of the game. The players here, and myself, are its only testers so far. What would you suggest I do instead for falling through platforms if UP is jump?

Under rating threshold (show) Control Configuration sucks, allthough you made it configurable you missed to unbundle the different control functions. e.g. if i want to have the UP key for jumping as every normal human being that is used to a keyboard would want i have to press UP and DOWN at the same time to fall through thin floors. didn't you let test gamers get their hands on this game? (also the descriptions in game are wrong if i reconfigure the controls).

Under rating threshold (show) Just suggesting ONE thing. The a/s/d jump/sword/shoot is fairly difficult to hit EVERY time. I suggest at least moving jump to the up key, having space as fire/slash and a/s as choose weapon. Fantastic game though. I'll give it 4/5, but only for having difficult controls, I don't give it 5/5. P.S. Bloody great rant in the forums! =D

Under rating threshold (show) Two quick suggestions. 1. Nerf spike damage. One damage is sufficient on Normal. Falling into a spike pit shouldn't remove 1/3 of your health. 2. Make the up arrow the jump. A to fire. S for sword. D to interact.

Under rating threshold (show) I think this game is great but one thing bothers me. I think the boss has a massive spike in difficulty to the extent that it makes getting to him look trivial when compared to it. Here is what happened the 2 times I beat it: First time: on beginner, I finished after 2 hours 23 minutes. Only 20 minutes of that was getting to the boss. 2nd time: on intermediate, I got to the boss with all 4 relics in 15 minutes and 3 deaths (if I remember correctly). By the time he was dead, I had 14 deaths and it took 55 minutes in total. I think this is more of an issue to watch out for in future chapters though, not one to fix here, even if it is fixed by making the route to the boss harder instead of making the boss easier.

Under rating threshold (show) The game is perfect, it's too hard for the average flash game player (even on the easiest difficulty), but that's a design flaw for this industry, not as a game designer in general. As a game in general, it's amazing, it's retro and it's a great challenge. The sword and gun combo is great, the levels look amazing, the music fitting beyond belief and it's just a ton of fun. Ignore the score and know that the real gamers, those that enjoy games like you get the real experience out of this game and you did an amazing job.

I took the time to include difficulty settings that I thought WERE reasonable, yet it 'doesn't work'... Agh, it's worrying, because I don't know what I can possibly DO about it...

Under rating threshold (show) People are aware of the difficulty levels, however, you have to realise that they will not try these out and decide what one is best, they will just hop on whatever they normally pick in these games. Stupid as it may be, your job as the developer is to work around gamers' stupidity and have the difficulty pretty standard, not just scathe them for it and sit back confident in your own brilliance.

Under rating threshold (show) This is the sort of retro game that reminds us that the reason we remember old games so fondly is some of them were freaking fantastic. Great design, and avoids the artificial difficulty so many games seem to be moving towards. Honest to god tough, and enjoyable for it. This will probably make the favorites list once I get further in it. =P

Under rating threshold (show) Are you people simply UNAWARE of the Difficulty settings, despite it being something that you have to select in order to start? On Easy mode, you have infinite lives and restart at the last checkpoint every time. The game is also, of course, EASIER. If you feel that the game is too hard, is it so unthought of to try an easier difficulty?

Under rating threshold (show) the same problem i find in a lot of platformers: there is a hard part that takes a few tries to do, and then there is another hard part that takes a few tries to do without a checkpoint in between. I shouldn't have to do a part again if I've already spent quite a while doing it.

Under rating threshold (show) Everyone bitching about the controls and the lives system have clearly never played old school Nintendo or Atari games. Try playing Kid Icarus or the original Pitfall for several hours and this game will seem like a piece of cake. I never once had any trouble with the ladder or jumping system in this game and I've beaten it twice now on the two harder difficulties. (my grades have sucked, though lol)
