I like the idea of travelling along different planets, thougth I don't like specially the graphs of this own, the contrast is too much brigth. Pseudo, don't care about the criying babies what don't take along with difficulty, and even don't played the first game (Necesary to play this one)

Going off of Powerfrogs's comment, I think extending the shift-jumping ladders by one square might actually be good on tutorial or beginner mode to satisfy those complaining about the difficulty. Or are such changes impossible on specific difficulties with this engine?

Besides the fact that it seems easy to abuse for a high ranking, there seems to be a glitch with the save feature. If you exit the game during the death animation and load up a new one, all switches triggered between the save and death will remain triggered, leading to massive potential for abuse. However, hitpoints upon loading up the save will be set to zero, but you will still be alive and one hit from anything will kill you. Please fix this. Is there a point penalty for loading up save files? I liked it better in the first game when there was no potential for save abuse.

Pseudo, I'm not that stupid to not notice/get that pretty trivial clue. Anyway I still think that first skull is misplaced; that's because it is the only one I see from top, so if I follow the advice to avoid the vertical where that skull is placed, instead than being awarded, I'm actually punished since I fall directly into the lava. Well, I know that's different for you since you're the developer and you know where the column are placed; that doesn't mean it should be unfair for first time players.

The path is more important then the goal. :D Who would ever play years nowadays to finish a singleplayer game? The seas of time as a kid are now... used differently. :D

Even on easy mode this game is WAY too difficult for the average platformer, me, if you plan on keeping it stupidly difficult only for those hardcore players (i probably just suck) you should add a Easier mode, Wussy mode, perhaps? 4/5, this is a good game, and that 1 off isn't ALL because of the difficulty. You really need to do something about the ladder hopping, again, perhaps make it easier to do by making the ladders longer on certain modes?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I don't see the point of that game which is mostly all about jumping, climbing and dying.
It appears that all the flaws of old games have been kept. But was thrown out what made them interesting.
1/5

Because UP is used for LADDERS too, and having climbing ladders with A is just silly, as is having the ladder and jump button be the same when precision is important.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Erm, just noticed in the tutorial that you say that jump is "A" to allow entering doors with up. Why is entering doors not "A", and jumping not up, as default?

Playing this was a very love hate relationship. I love it, it hated me and right before i decided to break up with it I reached the boss and blasted him to death.

NOTE ABOUT LAG – PLEASE READ!!
If you are experiencing lag with the game, here’s how to fix it. Right-click and go to Settings; you’ll be presented with a little popup thing. There’s a slider, which may be set at something like 100KB (the middle). Move this all the way to the right until it says ‘Unlimited’, then close the popup. This should remove all lag!

Thanks for the tutorial, short ladder jumps convinced me that it would be pointless for me to think I'm going to enjoy this game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Well, I don't have time to play it, but I'm favouriting it for now, and I'll play it when I'm back from boarding school. Also, I finally finished the first Raider on hard. Pity you can't subscribe to developers..

The skulls in room 22 are actually supposed to be 'scattered randomly about the wall', with the OTHER thing on the wall - not them - being the clue you should take note of... so, uh, yes!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
this game makes me angry... but that anger also makes it addicting! XD Great game pseudo. ( i got up to room 29 before giving up) Yay golden moric statue!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Pseudo, when I said "cheap" I meant the intricate vine/ladder jumping sequences in which a fall meant almost certain death, only to be followed by a minute or more of playing to get back to the part that killed you. But as I just said, we have differing ideas about what is fun in games. You like jumping puzzles. I do not. I'm not out to change your mind. I don't hate you or your game. I hope I can maybe put other people's frustrations into words with a less personal tone. I suspect they are largely people who also do not care for all the jumping.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Also, what would be 'hard' but NOT 'cheap'? I see people mentioning things like this a lot, but I get contradictory comments about Raider regarding it. Some people loved the first one because they said it was a refreshing CHANGE from 'cheap difficulty', whereas others seemed to say it WAS cheap... Of course, the latter types never bothered to be more specific, which leads me to believe whether they just think 'I can't do it, so it's cheap'...?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Haha...Well, Pseudo, it looks like you and I will be forever in disagreement on games, then, to some extent! I never played Tomb Raider. ;-) And while I don't necessarily care for mindless violence, I wouldn't mind a little less jump and a little more raid here. :P

It's very sad that good games receives low rating because they're challenge... Actually NES era was greatest age in video gaming. Raider reminds me my childhood. I'm waiting for next episodes.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Graphics, Wiciu? Really? This is clearly a retro/nostalgia game, a throwback to the classic games of our childhoods. Those of us who are over 20 or 25 (or 30) anyway. I find everything about the game quite charming. My only gripe is the difficulty that comes from endless jumping puzzles. Everything else is pretty good. If you're just in it for the graphics, go play a console game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I personally happen to feel that the 'jumping parts' in any game are more enjoyable than whatever else there may be, and I like games like, say, *Tomb Raider* - which is all about acrobatic jumping - more than games about mindless violence. So I tried to include what I personally like in this game. It's just unfortunate that games are moving more away from jumping skills and more towards combat 'skills' or something...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
My 3/5 ranking is in spite of the flaws that, for me, make this game too frustrating. If Kong. badges are added I might be enticed to push through at least part of it, but until then it just doesn't feel worth my while. It's all the jumping. I know jumping is a game staple, but it's also a cliche of sorts. The "jumping" levels are almost always the worst in any given game. Similarly, the finesse jumps from short vine to short vine with spikes both above and below and no way to get back up if you fall? Weak. As I said, there's nothing wrong with a hard game. But some of the difficulty here manifests in a cheap way that really detracts from my enjoyment of the game. Maybe more checkpoints are in order so that you don't have to play through two minutes of the game just to get back to the part that actually kills you each time. Just a couple of modifications and this would be one of my favorites, I think. A lesser game with these same difficulties would get a 2 tops from me.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
oh my! That's what i call a really crapy game. No abilites, upgrades, no thinking, no graphics (i know it's all done ON PURPOSE to make the game more...yes..more what??) due to all that, my rating is...1/5
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Ah it's a shame people don't like the platform genre anymore and just stick up to monotonous Tower Defences :P While this is definitely less addictive than Moneyseize, it's still a great challenge :D
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It has a low score because the current generation of players was raised on games like 'press the button to win!', whereas this is aimed at people who grew up with NES games or something...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Oh my... why this game have such low rating...? It's wonderful! Good job Pseudolonewolf, I really enjoy new Raider, it's better than first episode IMHO. The graphics are really nice and I just LOVE this music. Also this game reminds me Mega Man a lot (I was actually surprised when I jumped into spikes and not instantly died). It's pretty hard but yet fun platformer. Thanks for creating it, cheers!
Also vines and ladders work perfectly fine for me.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I actually integrated the thing about the lag into the game, so it SHOULD be clear now... But even when it's shoved in peoples' faces, it wouldn't be at all surprising if loads of people STILL complained.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Have you ever played NES games though? This is meant to be reminiscent of those, which DID have clunky control when jumping and were largely jumping rather than, say, combat with enemies... I wish that people would look at the game as what it's meant to be rather than disliking it for what it's not...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Oh and put the note about lag at the top since some people dont bother clicking 'show more'. Hope this will help you cut down on the stupid lag thing. Personally Im not even experiencing lag.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Pseudolonewolf, I pretty much agree with most of what KitchenSink is saying, with the exception of customizing the advance text button. I find the control setup perfectly fine. I just find the control itself to be too clunky for my taste. As to the ladder/vine grabbing, maybe if there were some sort of mode you could toggle on and off. I dunno. The problem is that the game is brutally unforgiving. While there's nothing wrong with a hard game, the first one was just too much and I see little to indicate any improvement here. The problem is that the game was 95% jumping puzzles, several of which led to almost certain death if you missed a single jump. It took me almost an hour to reach that first boss and then 5 minutes of being slaughtered before I saw the pattern. It's endless repetition with controls that feel less than fluid at times. 3/5.
