Checkpoints /would/ be nice - there /is/ strategy, and a good deal to think of, but the problem is, you do not need to be flexible. Once you discover what you need to do, you just do it over and over again - even if it takes you a bit of thought on how to get there.
All that remains in the end is how to get the timing bloody right.

The way land keep hero has special lightning blast technique which would make forces of light more formidable for battle of daerkness as a basic unit mercenary would b e fomidable. placing wayland keep as quest on map to be besieged would be good. the fantasy commander and chroma wars games as turn based games would end quick against style of battle of darkness.then flash chess mercenaries or chess board unitts depoliyed SS BOARD TRAPS COULD BE INTEREASTING.

Other possibilities for Battle of Darkness would be to use the fourbackground character selection back ground protecto r iv.v uses. such as knight, forests dweller, urchin,an merchant. instead the options of Wrere Wolf, mage, Demon,Uner worlf fighter could be desplayed. chossing which of these gives youunits. a base camp could be added and unccommanders with basic units of 23 gold hired .clicking on a potrait shows basc units and skills. then bould hire a battalion that way by hiring the commander. .alredy have four units just hire demon for example for 200 gold then has basic unit of demon costs 23 gold.kilas you kill enemies you recruit more units.could have enmap and quests. could take first five uests in merc ivv easily Ruined Smithy, Setting up camp. flitwind forest, river curse, citidel road, sleeping dragon quest.

If the maker of this game could put kamikazee goblin uits into monter's den book of shadows to blow up the engine unit on level two as well as the cultist elite guards that would solve some problems in that turn based game

The bomber units from Epic war and Battle of Darkness wouldfix some problems in merc iv.v with unit removal by blowing up the first three defence soldiers placed .this would enable archers placed after melle units and different units placed. also good as mercenaries to take out entire wave of orcs in merc iv.v. the Forggotten cave quests could use some bombers .battle of allandria is another similiar game withh cursed undead kings.agai bomber units good there.goblin mercnary kamikazee units or could use Islamic Jihad an Osama Bin Laden as undead forces.or a magnetic unit. Magneto perhaps

Like Epic war features goblin bomber unit probaly the maker will combine with epic war and place thee grim tooth chgracter from there as an ally and take the castles in that game by moving out from battle of darkness castle. .combining the card upgrades and but up grades ideas.puttig cards and buy battalions ptions

The apocalypse power sometimes only falls just at the back of the screen completely missing everyone on the screen, even when there are several groups on the screen.

I don't know why everyone insists that there is no in-game strategy. Yes with time the game is beatable, but with my strategy I can usually get 2 or more waves further than just "grinding" like everyone keeps saying. Either they suck at strategy, or they can set their team up at the start better than me.
I like the idea of checkpoints and random power ups. The checkpoints would be something you could choose to start from, or not, depending on whether you are going for money, points, or just to reduce the monotony. Power ups would also add a randomness feel that would reduce the monotony as well, and you could buy into them on the stats page.

I've been sort of setting and forgetting this game. nothing really feels particularly powerful or useful so my train of mobs just grinds over the opposition in the background hoping that one day something more interesting is unlocked.

The game has pretty graphics, but the extreme patience (and the love of repetitiveness) needed to complete the game should at least be rewarded with a Kong achievement...

As everyone else has said, too much grinding. Checkpoints and items would help a lot. Also minor nitpick. Projectile motion is relative to the screen rather than the background, you can see this when you charge whilst a shaman's projectile is in mid-air.

apocalypse is totally useless. it won't start when i push it but only at the beginning of the next fight and then rain down behind enemy lines.. tried to time it before the fight so the enemy rushes through it but won't start before...

A tad grind-heavy but I do like it. Maybe items, or other special bonuses. Perhaps random weather that gives random advantages or penalties. Something to break up the repetition. Even faster money, or a x3/x5 speed option would go a long way toward at least speeding it up a bit.

Too Grindy for real fun. There is nothing to collect just upgrade your minnions die, start all the way over. Upgrade people, go back in, die, rinse repeat untill you win. No strategy, and its really slow to grind because as soon as you get to the next spot you'll have to atleast do it 2-3 times to get the next tier minion to even surpass the challenge. NOT FUN.

well, nice game.. another campaign against several others nations, or another time would be nice... units with choice of upgrade too that way it could be possible to chose between several kind of tactics
