Description

The gravity units on LV-427 have failed and colonists are drifting into space and dying as they leave the stratosphere! Your mission is to save as many colonists as you can by carrying them to the orbitting drop ship.

This game was made in 7 days for the Game Prototype Challenge (http://www.gameprototypechallenge.com) v5.
The themes for the challenge were Companion and Rising.

The game is about your impossible struggle to save your fellow colonists. It's just a matter of time before they die and it's on your hands, after 100 colonists have died the game will be over. See how many you can save before that happens!

How to Play

In my opinion the only thing that keeps me from enjoying this game are the controls. It's simply too hard to control him precisely. 3/5

I've liked background graphics and TV news-like feeling of the camera, but I've found the hero somehow difficult to control - controls could be more accurate, mainly when hero is falling. What I've really liked is the info bar listing names of confirmed casualties and at the end names of people the hero has saved.

I would really like a version where where debris is floating around as well and people can grab onto objects like buildings or stuff floating around for a short time and generally a more interactive environment. This way you could even make a whole game around this superhero where he has to rescue people from falling from skyscrapers, help people in constructing stuff by bringing them material (e.g. machines into the 186th floor of a skyscraper under construction), bring astronauts back to a space station after they have been pushed into space and are moving towards a sun and save people from huge catastrophes like that with the media reporting on your actions. If you hurt people the media will gut you and you turn into a wreck and get the option to turn evil and become a super villain, if you do a good job you are the ultimate hero. Just an idea...

I think the controls are fine. The problem is the detection box for snagging a colonist is way to small. For example, if you fly up near the edge of the stratosphere, then aim yourself over a long, tight line of colonists floating in your direction and let yourself fall, you'll be lucky to get more than one, and forget about snagging more than two.

Maybe if there was an upgrade that gave you a small gravity pull, causing very close colonists to float toward you?
