I just love how clear the rules are in this game and how playable it is overall. I love that the rules are pretty much taught by the game's environment and narrative premise, which helps us experience the story.
To play, we need to know that:
A) swimming for 10 seconds will kill us
B) entering a dark area will turn off and reset the timer
C) pieces of paper are checkpoints
and D) the moving creatures aren't enemies
And this is how I think we've been taught:
A) the first thing we do is transition from water to land and see the countdown. Moving in water feels different and now there's this timer...
B) the dark areas resemble air pockets in underwater caves.
C) we can fail fast and when we die, we appear next to a note
and D) the creatures have a similar colour palate to the player character
To me the way this game teaches it's rules is part of the game's magic because the quicker we learn, the sooner we can get into the story.

The way the notes were going, that it was taking years for the two to find each other, I thought that the friend was gonna be dead by the time you found him...

The cave was confusing but in the end, it was worth it cause now I know what the game's name mean. Wait, how can an octopus/squid read and write?

This is the most beautiful game i have ever played on, the notes kept me swimming for i wished to find my friend, the countdown, at the beginning, i never thought it would be enough but it was perfect every time 6/5. Loved it.

Awesome! I like the tone, the colors, and most other stuff about it. The music fits it perfectly, and it's actually the only good minimalist game I've ever seen. It's certainly challenging!
5/5

Why does this make me cry every time I play it?
between this, pretentious game, and company of myself, I almost want to stop using the internet. but at the same time, it's just so beautiful...

i just love these kind of games. that are the type of games that dont really offer much of a challege physically, but mentally. Games like Company of Myself (but that offered a physical challenge), Loved, Majesty of Colors, etc. I think that more people should make these kind of games and I would make one myself, if I knew how.

Beautiful game, although I don't think I quite comprehend the end of it. The notes really do give more meaning than a movie ever could.

The ending is actually very very sad if you look at it in a certain light. Your friend was getting very old at the end of the cave and if you wouldn't of jumped in, he would of waited for you until he died. He would of died alone and yet still oblivious, thinking his friend would come along eventually.
