Great game! Has a feel of Total War gameplay with the smoothness of watching Gods and Kings on youtube.
A few things: Royals are not the easiest to play, they're actually the hardest. Cav allows you to brute force most of the game, and they don't start with any.
The second mission is easily the hardest, with later missions being easier due to veteran status. Perhaps a couple extra gold early (since no vets yet) and more enemies later (to force spending saved by vet status) would provide that straight line of increasing difficulty.

I take that back about royals, was thinking of outlaws, which has the right difficulty for sure lol

Not bad... Enough for 3 stars...
What I see as a problem:
1) Concept of hiring before each battle, particularly as you have no income
2) No income mechanism, forcing to choose "donation pseudoskill" from "skill tree"
3) Zero effect of the battlefield map - there may be building or forest painted on the map, but in reality, both you and enemy can go straight through it, there are not even any penalties or bonuses for such thing
4) Unit's can get promoted after 3 battles...and that's it... There is no further progression...

I'm stuck on the "The End" screen, and if I refresh, I go back to before the final battle.

When you hire extra trenches, if you then fire the trenches, you don't get all of your money back...
