Spy:SIR THERE IS GOING TO BE A GERMAN ATTACK ON SOMEWHERE BY AN AMOUNT OF PLANES!
Leader:...uhhh thanks that was very helpful...

It's a fun game with a lot of potential. I think the design is really difficult because it's supposed to SEEM hard and desperate. Winning should feel like limping across the finish line. The Battle of Britain wasn't about Britain bravely massacring the Luftwaffe as soon as they crossed the Channel, it was about holding the country together while the RAF did whatever they could.
Here's my suggestions:
-Make the combat math more transparent(how much better are Spitfires?)
-Instead of ramping up the difficulty through random events and losing an inordinate amount of planes, just have a lot more German planes attack as the game goes on
-Someone else suggested more recruiters. Again, I'd balance this out with more German attacks
Random Idea: Ace Pilots
You'd have to track an individual pilot, but perhaps if a pilot survived X battles he turns into an Ace. You could either keep him on as a more effective pilot, or ground him to bolster recruiting efforts.
4/5

Great game, only major complaint I have is that the minus (-) button appears next to every resource even when there are 0 units allocated there.
And some comments for those that don't know:
The battle sequences are predetermined before it actually shows it. Planes blowing up after the battle is seemingly over is just a minor glitch, but the end result is what is supposed to happen, that plane was supposed to go down.
Second, you don't have to click over and over to add and subtract, holding down the mouse button on them works too.

So...the Germans aren't even shooting yet and my planes crash, but after my planes crash, some German bombers and fighters fall out of the sky for no reason. I'm okay with that.

I felt like I was playing a survival horror game...Crap...Which city do I let them bomb so I can protect the other city...

Actually there is a secret to winning about 100% of the time. First, overbuild spitfires, overstock metal. Second, do not try and defend everything all the time. Rebuild. Don't use fire chiefs. By picking and choosing your fights, you can stock up on man power.
Between here and armor games (played on both, just in case there was a difference) I have ended 15/15 with about 100 spare spits, usually 50-70 pilots, and 100% cities. You have to play around with it a little, and it does increase the time of the game. Oh and get your spies up, picking and choosing what gets through and what you stop is part of the strategy.
Plus this so frustrated players can win a few please

To start off, ignore any incoming attacks and get 10 recruiters. Let a turn go by. Look at your areas, and round down (No rounding up) each percentage to a multiple of 5. For each 5% missing, get a builder and put them there. If you have more builders then needed in a day, take some out and make them do something else for a while. You can always re-assign them. Put the rest in recruiters. Keep doing this until 20 recruiters. Now focus on getting to 8 workers and 10 harvesters. Once done produce spitfires all the time. If you get damaged too quickly, put some firemen. You now want to get your spies up to 45 (10% of them are likely to die each day, which comes out at 4.5 spies dead. Replace them each day). Once you have this sorted, either increase firemen for defence (Only put 8-17 firemen in each area or your asking for them to die), builders (Buy in sets of 4, and get 5 harvesters for each one) or pilots. Once you have enough pilots and planes, then start attacking.

Love the game!
but the killing rate is very random it seems.
also i would love that you had to research the plane instead.
maybe be able to research things like the radar. Be able to build AA guns in the cities, give a % for defence.
Be able to upgrade the plane maybe ?
love the game anyway!

Abritray winning figure of 300 german planes lost changes the dynamic at the end. Suggest you award victory for a random number between 300 and 350... The British never had any idea when Germany would give up...
For consistency, use 300 still as the high score date... but in game play, let it be variable, we don't know how long it will continue...

I'll have 2x the number of planes and still lose over half my force. What's up with that? Overwhelming odds should count for a lot more than they do.

I had to see this through till the end, and enjoyed it -- but can't see playing it again without some serious tweaks. My suggestions: 1. I would recommend that intelligence info be reflected in the "city areas" screen -- little icons for certain, or possible, attacks. Would save a ton of clicking back and forth. 2. maybe I'm a bad student of history, but I don't know the names of every German plane, whether they were more or less dangerous than others, and how to allocate my forces appropriately when multiple raids are coming in. Are 5 [somethings] worse than 3 [whatevers]? No idea. 3. would be nice to be able to speed up battle animations without skipping them entirely 4. the "high score" seems to just be # of days. Are there penalties/bonuses for not losing a city? How about margin of victory? If I was in a war, I'd vote to extend it an extra week or two, if it meant our casualties were much lower. … And that’s it. Thanks for making this!

Well, I want you all to atleast know, that the Messerschmitt, also known as bf 109 and me 109 was actually BETTER than the spitfire in terms of speed and firepower, but the spitfire is better in terms of manouverability and armor. In this game, however, the spit and the bf 109 are equal, and thus they can shoot eachother down in normal conditions. I also noticed, that the Ju 87 ,,Stuka'' is a MUCH better dogfighter than it's comrades JU 88A, Heinkel 111 and Dornier 17, but the stuka still is not as good as the traditional Bf 109. If you see some messerschmitts and stuka's togheter, send more planes, or you will get massacred. Hope this helps :)

only real question is, if all my workers are sick and therefore not producing planes where does my scrap metal go? it shouldn't be taken away so that you can decrease your gatherers for a day to compensate a lil or at least that would make sense to me don't see a reason to lost your metal your not using

What happened? I sent out 52 planes and still didn't get the achivement: Master of the skies! Your suposed to send out 50 OR MORE planes in one day to get it and i did that!

They kinda overpowered the messers and the hurricane was roughly equal to the spit in real life, other than that great game 4/5

Probably not a good idea to announce in a newspaper headline that the enemy spies are working for you :L (Though to be fair, the Times did the same thing during Crimean War in the 1800s, with the Russians saying they did not need spies when they can just read the Times!)

Churchill: So, any news about the air raids?
Spy:*ahem* well, uhh, I know there will be Germans, and Probably, probably planes, oh, uhhh watch out cause they may have bombs.
Churchill:Where will they hit us?
Spy:...
Churchill:Really? I pay you for this?
(turns around, pulls out gun)
Spy(fast forward 50 years): And that, children is how we won the war.

1 thing they really need to add is AA guns, the Battle of Britain wasent just fought with aircraft, as the brits have multiple AA sites including AA 18`s and Bofor and Twin Bofor 40mm guns.

i think its a great game only when you have won you cant realy play anymore you have to load it every time again so thats the only - i have found
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I'd like to suggest some sort of survival/super long mode? The game ended much too quickly for me, and I was very much enjoying it!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
What I really didn't like about the game was that overwhelming odds on your part did nothing to stem losses. 60 to 10 planes should be a slaughter. And not on the 60 plane side.

Overall interesting game, but seemed to random for battles to me. I sent 1 Spit against 11 enemies and he shoots em all down. Then later i send 4 guys against 2 a JU-88 and a 109 and i lose 3 planes. Very inconsistent fighting, this is the biggest drawback to the game.

I would love to know how the combat system works, cause i had 4 spitfires defend against 5 messershmidts and 6 junkers, and 2 spits were left. But my force of 9 spitfires was shot down by 3 messers and 6 junkers, and they had 1 messer and 2 junkers left. All in all, its a great game, but the combat should be a little less random

,,Sir! There's going to be an attack on ********* or ********* or ********** or London by ******** ammount of ******** and ******!'' Wow....That's the most helpful advice ever given....Promotion.

uhm design problem found!the bombers in every area in this game shouldnt have any fighter escort except for south east because due to limited fuel capacity the fighter escort would turn back just a little bit offshore in britain.I would recomend a sequel plz its a nice game!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
they actually made a ranking system for Jet/Fighter Pilots if you get up to 8 kills in each dogfight you are ranked an Ace, the Red Baron is the worlds bestest pilot having around 75-80*forgot* CONFIRMED kills

"21-21 Planes are about to attack XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
Say again? SAY AGAIN? I DIDN'T HEAR YOU! WHERE ARE THEY ATTACKING? DAMNIT!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So I keep trying the math in my head and I just cant figure out how I keep getting all these negatives. I even managed to lose planes I did not even send into the fight.

How is it that even though the workers don't do anything (they're sick), they still used up several tons of scrap metal?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
If you would tweak this a bit it would be a fun game. For instance, having morale hit an all time low on the day the Germans surrendered suggests something is off. Winning without any city dropping to 50% or even close suggests its too easy. Firemen are never needed. Etc. Still, fun game.

The combat system makes no sense how can 2 of their fighters take down 7 of mine when i had 10 AND then 1 of their fighters survived!?!?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice well crafted game. Seems like it's missing an R&D option, but maybe that could be in a sequel.

Though Matador was a little... loud... in his complaint, i really have to agree. I sent a Spitfire and a Hurricane into battle with two Heinkel bombers, and lost the Spitfire. I seriously doubt that the two massive, sluggish, and lightly armed bombers could have shot down either of those planes. I think that the combat generator could be changed, and better consider that Spitfires were excellent fighters, and many of the British pilots at the start of the fight were skilled aces.
