I must have the worst luck, because I cannot seem to roll higher than a 3 anymore. With the gear you get from the villagers, I can hit exactly nothing lol. After 4 rolls of 1 I think I need to take a break before I get too upset.

fix the rng... its rng if its sorta ballance but rolling 1 on attack and dragon roll 10, 11 times in a row thats not rng anymore thats unbalanced.
The rng has the same odds as real dice rolls. Over time there will be streaks of luck. Streaks of bad luck are frustrating and memorable. Streaks of good luck are taken for granted and forgotten. The result is that many people will feel that the RNG is rigged against them. This is why many game developers actually rig the results to be in favor of the player. We don’t do that.

"Since this post, we added a system where the other heroes will visit, so you can occasionally play them for free." Lol...

Pretty fun game but the rng is far from random, over two hours of play my average dice roll before bonuses is a 3 while the monsters is an 8, just lost in an easy room in a dungeon after not getting higher than a 2 for 5 straight rolls while the enemy had 10-12 5 in a row. This severely needs to be re-balanced to make it a viable game.

While I freely admit to being one of Sara53's wittless ones, I pretty much concur with all said. I especially like the idea and drool at the thought of a weapons or loot shop.

Not to complain... its a good game but there is alot of flaws i spot (1. Difficulty... some areas in the beginning are very easy and others are insanly hard... with the starting weapons its just a matter of sheer luck and wit... which most people just dont have...) 2.( No weapon shops or loot shops... sure this is a dungeon crawler but without the option of purchasing good loot at the start or during your adventure it makes the game so much more difficult i understand the DnD vibe but there is a fine reason why nobody plays it much anymore... 3. (Finally, One class... sure this is a demo game but with only one class... its very difficult to get a good style... especially with the variety of enemies... in the end this game is very good... but too damn difficult... hopefully when its released... maybe it would be more possible XD

U're response to my May 28th post served to remind me that my first line of defense is usually whine, whine & more whine, prior to even considering whether my complaints held any merit at all. I will endevor in the future not to comment unless it's of a construtive nature. All that aside, I belive that RougeSword has a long and storied future in the gaming industry. Don't respond to this please, I've taken up enough of u're time already. ty

Whoa, made it to 8 of 13 green ones. First tims since the changes that I'd managed to make it even close to that far despite many, many attemps, Not sure if it was my superior ganesmanship (kinda doubtful:)), blind luck or Dev's charity. :)
Come on guys, bring back the fun, excitment and expectations of the game, which has been minimized in nearly all areas.
The game did get more difficult, and so we are going to scale back the rankings of the higher players so games are more winnable at high levels. (Relative standings will remain the same.) There also skills that we haven't added yet, which will help. And we are going to do some other things, like remove Whiff. Most of the feedback we've gotten is just that the game is now too hard, which is fair, but we'd love to get feedback about specific things independent of their effect on difficulty. Do you like the new dice system? Do you like Feats? Do you like the new skill bonuses? They take time to get used to, so maybe wait until after the rankings adjustment, and get a win under your belt, before answering.

About 10 or 11 games after the changes, I've made it to the Lairs once, managed to slay perhaps 2 dragons, then died. Many times I've not even been able to make it past the first opponent in the caverns. Perhaps it's me, I'm not exactly a skilled gamer:), but it seems the odds are now stacted pretty heavily in the bad guys favor. Not giving up by any means, will keep trying!

Lost my first three attempts at victory under the new system. Now the game is down for maintenance. Thank goodness. :)

Don't recall ever playing a game, and I date back to the days when Pac-Man ruled all the lands, where the Dev put so much effort in explaining even the tinest nuances of the game. That was one of the first thinges I noticed when I started playing this game, and it continues in the changes made today. Most games give you a 'use mouse to aim and shoot' period. ROUGESWORDS time and efforts in this matter are laudable. But be forwarned, this will not stop me from losing:). ty

Back in Feb someone asked if there were any plans in the works for a character to be able to move pass #3. ROUGESWORDS reply was in the affirmative 'coming soon'. Can U give us any possible updates on that?
Been very much looking forward to it.
thx
We've been working on a major change that's coming soon. That's why we haven't had any changes in the last few weeks. Get ready to say goodbye to the Level 3 level cap.

x.x before reaching fame 15-20 getting even one equipment above +1 is a miracle, and even after reaching fame 30ish you still have noobish equip to start with x.x does one really have to reach fame 40 before hoping to have +4 equips to start with???

'Vanish Scrolls will become a distant but fond memory' (or something like that) per RougeSword. Dear RougeSword......Please expect to hear from my Lawyers shortly. :)

purchase the other classes lol, hard pass. i understand you gotta make a living but, there's better things to charge for than turning to page 1 of this game. wish you the best, i liked what i was able to play before the pay wall

I would suggest a regular weekly free rotation of heroes like in League of Legends in addition to the default/purchased. If you keep adding new heroes to the game along with a larger variety of weapons (plus effects possibly), you could probably get to the coveted 4-star/5-star range.

'the system is down for maintenance' Jeez, you'd think you'd be notified in advance of the game just shutting down on you! A major league aggravation.

Would like very much to see stats and etc delineated. Example, took my main guy to l-3. After awhile I decided to bring the huntress and the brawler into the game for a bit of variety. But unless there's a way around it that I don't know about, all their losses (and they are numerous) count as losses to my main hero, which skews the stats for all. My main hero and his vanity (aka conceit) are getting very difficult to live with. :)

so kongregate gets a beta game to "test" alright quick search reveals reviews of the game done in january 2015 so there is nothing "new" nothing to "beta test" and nothing to review content for.

Without doubt, my profanity laced outburst's in regards to the puported abilities of my obviously blind little hero has commited my soul to hades, yet I continue playing and forgiving the little maggot :).

The wording was "You will be eligible for the elf and dwarf when you slay 1 Black Dragon." You're right - that's not the full story. We will change it to: "You can purchase the elf and dwarf after slaying 1 Black Dragon."

I'm really liking this game, though it does get a bit repetitive starting over with near nothing again and again, it seems as soon as you get some decent equipment, it all goes away. I understand there's balance reasons to not let you keep -everything- but the character level up process is extremely slow, some sort of other persistent / earnable bonus for clearing dungeons would help make it feel like you're getting somewhere.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Fine game but the gear RNG is too frustrating. Went through a game where i cleaned 80% just to get +2/3 crap and couldn't progress any further. Only solution was suicide because we can't even leave a dungeon to restart a new one. What a waste of time.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
aaah this is so brutal sometimes, you only get shields through the entire dungeon! only shields!! how am i supposed to fight when only a tenth of my attacks at most can hit the dragon
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've only got two complaints. One, fame level seems to have no effect on starting gear, even at lvl 10; the other issue I have is charging money for the ability to use the Dwarf and Elf after the game assured me I could use them after beating the Black Dragon. If you absolutely NEED to have an in game purchase, I'd recommend tying it to higher tiers of gear or new areas in the game to explore. Other than that, I love the enemy descriptions, the modifiers they have (skeletons getting a def bonus versus bows) make perfect sense, and the different creature models look fantastic. I also like the idea of needing to roll (or spin, in this case) for better tiers of equipment.

the RNG is a bit too brutal in this, if you don't get a good sword, shield and bow you can end up in an unwinnable situation.

When rolling on weapons and you roll the same level weapon have the weapon level up one so it doesn't just happen where you stay with the same weapon and lose a run based on horrible rolls.

I don't think putting the two other classes behind a paywall is the way to go. Might be better to try to find some other way to implement microtransactions.
Since this post, we added a system where the other heroes will visit, so you can occasionally play them for free. And we permanently award the two heroes for free if you reach Fame Level 50. (If you buy the heroes, you get a free Jar of Mana instead at Fame 50.)
