There's an update dropping on May 3rd which intends on greatly increasing the amount of content available - and hopefully, player retention :) following this, I'll start looking towards additional platforms to increase the general player base to the levels we'd need it at to avoid long queue times before getting a match.

This is one of the most convincing queue simulators I have ever played. I actually thought I was going to play a game, I really felt it in my bones, and to have my hopes dashed so splendidly as the timer continued to run... absolute masterpiece. If you are looking for that game where you think you may get a chance to play, but really just get stuck in a long queue to get declined, you have found the holy grail.
Hey, yeah - I agree, the queue times are ridiculous at the moment. The game needs a pretty high concurrent playerbase at any one time to allow for a respectably short waiting time. There's a major update landing on May 3rd which will coincide with us getting some additional spotlight on the page - so, with some luck, this should translate into a lot more players, and far lower queue times to boot. In the meantime though, I apologise for the lengthy waits.

Here a few game suggestions I've thought of:
Even though I am not African American myself, I would like to see some dark-skinned characters added to this game. Both male and female. I am a male for your information. I would also like to see this game exceed its limits to round 10. If you cannot do this, it is understandable, I do not mind. The last things I want to propose is a Karma system. It would be show how many times they've tried or successfully split, and vice versa. If this is too much work, I would settle for having it show the amount of splits and steals they have chosen for the current round, assuming a round ends when a person is stolen from, or both decide to steal.
And finally, I would like to thank Rootpew and whoever else made this game possible. It has been a joy playing with respectful players. This makes me wonder if the report system actually works. If it does, this is officially the best game out there.
Hey, first off, thanks for the kind words! All the points you've made above have very good merit to them. Player skins & models do need a lot more diversity. Right now they're all stemmed from one base model, from the SYNTY packs. I'm going to try and get that rectified very soon. The May 3rd patch will be making some changes to both queueing/tier structures, and will introduce more ways (ala Karma) to suss out your opponent a little better. Oh, and the reports are checked/actioned daily :) Thanks for playing, and for your feedback - Hope to see you when the new patch drops!

I believe the t7 update had an unwanted side effect and didn't really help in the way you believed it would root, less players for one thing. Second, getting to t7 doesn't feel like an accomplishment and takes away from the challenge that the game once had. Personally, I would like to see more tiers than before and wait times being longer would, in my opinion, be acceptable. Having a goal that is hard to reach is fun, making money quickly just for skins and lighting, not so much.
The less players is due to the fact that we were on the Hot New Games section on Kongregate for quite some time - which led to a steady influx of traffic :) Unfortunately, we can't stay there forever - and the t7 update was in part due to the realisation that we were going to enter a quiet period off the HNG Section, alongside there being a 2-3 week wait until the new content patch. The player traffic would've been the same here - except with 15 tiers, you'd never find a match in the off-hours.
Once the new content patch is launched, we're slated to re-enter the HNG section - and any subsequent releases then on Steam/Kartridge would further boost the player count.
Once we have an influx of new players, we can re-examine raising the Tier Limit :)

the prisoner's dilemma is a cool thing to base a game around, unfortunately there really isn't a good way to really get it going in the current build, it's too easy to do some quick math and make sure that you both win. Maybe add some more risk/reward elements to the game

Met my one true love, got abandoned while he went off to the crusades, made a couple hundred thousand in the meantime. All in all 5 stars

Imo the game should be anonymous until both locked in. So make the characters hooded while chatting and only reveal when checking who wins. Players usin blacklists etc. contradicts the games core.
There's a new game mode currently in development which allows for higher stakes, and anonymous play :) It may not make it into the May 3rd update - but it won't be too long after.

Tried it, got to T7 once, didn't enjoy it much.
I see no point in knowing if the opponent did steal before, everyone just splits right away. Also, why should it not be possible to revert your decision after locking in. This game is about communication. If one just locks in right away, there's no point in the opponent persuading to change or rethink the decision.
Imo it should not be displayed if someone already locked in and it should be revertable.
I rate this a cool concept/idea (5/5) but not so good implemenation (2.5/5).

I've gotten very far with a very strict "no steal" policy. I've never stolen and never will. I guess that makes me an easy mark, but at the same time you know we'll all win.

Can't say that I'm a fan of having a hard cap at round 7. With no cap, it becomes an ever worsening question on whether or not the other is going to betray. With a hard cap at 7, it just means that the first 6 rounds are exactly the same (dominant strategy would dictate to simply always split these rounds, as almost nobody is going to work with you if you betrayed in any of the previous rounds), with a single round of a proper prisoner's dilemma, where you're going to return to the first round regardless of if you win or lose.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've read about the real experiment. The game is well done and interesting, but with unlimited tries, and no real loss, it pays more to be kind and split. If the same was done with real money, i think people would be much less egotistical.
True! But would you like to trust a stranger on Kongregate with 100k of your real cash? :D
There are more game modes in the works right now which can put a lot more emphasis on the weight of the dilemma, alongside alternate play modes which greatly increase community interaction :)

I think you should make it so you can't see if they're in good standing or they stole. That way it will be more realistic, since in the real world you most likely wouldn't know.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I mean. more of a rock paper scissors game. I'm a fan of the iterated prisoner's dilemma, where multiple rounds are played out with the same person or group. gives room for strategies like tit for tat.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Such a silly game. You only control your opponent's chance to win, not your own. This is not the prisoner's dilemma, the Nash equilibrium is different.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So if the opposing person chooses to steal, you lose no matter what? If you split, you lose the cash, if you steal, you both lose the cash. That seems harsh.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Despite what you'd expect at first, most of the time people will split with you, and it makes complete sense. Because this is actually not the Prisoner's Dilemma at all! 1) There's a long-game aspect. People know who you are, they remember your past choices and will adapt accordingly. 2) Repetition is fast and comes with no penalties, so you can try as many times as you want. Together, these constraints mean that building up trust is really the only viable long-term strategy. Props to the dev for making such an interesting experiment possible :)

Please God, Developer, Anyone remove the dummytest1 steal bot.
please help a poor soul.. Upvote this so the Devs cant help us all please guys.

The developer added a bot that will ALWAYS steal from you. If you get "DummyTest1" in game, it will always steal. Kind of a BS move by the developer.

Developer. I found small bug. If you press "Join Queue", and then the game is found - "Decline", all buttons become inactive except "Cash out". Then you have to refresh the page to continue the game.
