Once your squad gets assault rifles, it's just a matter of camping the enemy spawns on guard mode and bayonetting anything that comes out.
Sniper rifle is incredibly handy on the level with 5 long range, defence mode only killable enemies. By the time you get to the last few levels, if you're doing it right, everyone is already level 8 and it's pretty much a cakewalk.

Great game 4/5! Three minor tweaks would make this a 5/5 though: first, (as already posted) you need a way to skip watching the enemy's turn; second, I would really like it if I could control my units' counterattacks (it's really annoying that the snipers tend to be kill hogs even though I want to conserve their ammo more that the assault rifle users because of the bayonet); and lastly I think the last level was a bit of a let down "survive for twenty rounds" maybe it would have been challenging with only the original three characters at level one, but the last level was far from challenging, it was just time consuming. but over all this was a really nice game and I don't mean to rant.

Other difficulty settings: easy - default, medium - use one skill point / level (not tested), hard - use no skill points (perfectly doable, might lose a marine here and there)

entered the game, at the menu and my very first words were; 'Oh, sweheheet.' From that moment i knew it would be a great game. a tonne of effort put into it and it shows, great job.

such an awesome game 5/5 hope there be a part two with a skirmish and an upgrade for every weapon where you can increase the weapons performance like for example incendiary bullets, AP bullets and more insanely hard enemies

So now you have very good engine, skills and you can reuse great potential of Incubation. Try making your own ideas and mix them with original ones and you will get perfect game. It's so good to see many people playing this, let's say, flash version of some Incubation levels. I thought this kind of gameplay has been forgotten long ago and I will never see it again.
Thanks ryzed. Just keep improving mechanics in next games and you will rule Kong :)

Thank you very much! The"Incubation" is great and the "Xeno Squad" is magnificent too. Also it's very amazing to see such a clear and quick 3D on Flash, excellent design! Thanks a lot!

Needs a button to undo moves, in case you screw up, and a skip button for the enemy turnanimations, they are quite slow...

epic... you should expand on this idea majorly... more weapons maybe some armor enhancesments addons... you could do anything with this... maybe even new enemies and npcs that help you and give you side objectives... this game is going places...

Good old Fire Emblem feel, with guns.
Kidding aside, this is amazing. If this is really flash, this is far above average, with really nice REAL 3D graphics, and a fun play style. After level 2, the scaling starts to fall hard. Levels caping at 8, and a few other things, clip the max play length I think. I would love a sequel or interface-continuation from this, especially one with additional story.
In this one, I just feel like we're the sewer clean up crew, what with all the manholes, mutants, platforms on dirty water, and barrels of ill-disposed-of radioactive waste.

This is a nice "Incubation" clone for flash!
Could you guys add multiplayer in the next version? That would be killer!

5/5 awesome game, really felt the incubation influence in this game. Nice to have that experience again in a flash game. Some more enemy variety would be nice and more balanced weapon choices would add to the squad feeling of having the right weapons in the right positions. A few drawbacks would be the grenade launcher is a little ridiculously over powered and the defend option may be too strong as someone with an assault rifle can defend on top of a vent and melee everything to death as it spawns.

If your enemies are all melee type, it's possible, with the bayonet rifle, to just be on defense and let them come to you and die. Thumbs up so the developer can see.

Fun, but way too easy.
Defending being able to do more shots than just spending your AP on those last 2 AP makes defensive position really good. Could use difficulty modes and skipping enemy movement animation.

Great game. Few gameplay issues to look into though.
1. I'm stuck on the first encounter with ranged aliens. The gameplay on this level is a bit too binary. I either oblitate an enemy or it obliterates me. Their hit chance is pretty low but they get too many attacks. Its not a fun gameplay element if one of the smallest critters can have 5 hits in a row and take me down to 1 or 2 hp.
2. Defensive mode feels to strong. This largely contributes to the binary feeling where if I'm in defensive mode i'll kill whatever comes near me but if i'm not then i will get 9-12 shots from 1 ranged alien and take 1-3 dmg on one turn from one critter.
3 An easy fix would be to put in some sort of full or partial heal. This could go off of leveling up, drop off an alien (to incentivize them to get into the thick of battle instead of turtling) or as a possibility in a chest.

This is an add-on to the 4 player co-op idea I had, instead of it being 4 player, it should be a 12 player co-op, because then you could have 4 marines, and 8 are the aliens, when you are an alien, you can choose your type of alien, but when you die,(as the alien) you wait 2 turns and then you get to choose again, when you are a marine, when your health is 0 you should have 2-4 turns to be revived, you cant attack when you need to be revived, but the aliens can attack you once when you are down and there is a 60% chance of getting hit when you are down, but when an alien is not attacking you, you cant lose hp, when you die you become an alien.
plus this if you think this should be in the game.

I found that yo can take on anything with 2 snipers, 2 melee rifles and the grenade launcher. I'd suggest making it so that the melee attacks required training or something, so that the arn't instantly an instant kill, or so that you can only us X amount of attacks per defense. I love the game, but after a while you can easily win with little effort if you hold the right spots. Still a great game. Final verdict. 5/5 (also.... a skip of fast forward would be appreciated)

this game is awesome, but it should have a map maker where you can create your own map, and you can share it online with a 4 player co-op mode. plus this if you think this is good.

I may have been a little premature saying you couldnt beat the last level before the turn count ran out. Another run proved that by a few turns. But doesnt change the core of what I'm saying. There is just a certain point where you really can't lose and the temptation is there to just sit around and watch teh bayonets
