Yay! I managed to get all four endings in the same day, and it was the first time I played it! (Normal difficulty, btw)

I actually like the game and all, but I have no idea with what kind of strategy I could get the hard badge without depending entirely on luck. The game has so many rage-inducing mechanisms there, I have a hard time to keep on liking it.

Does it feel wrong that most of the time you can basically steal all the survivor's food and drive them out of there shelters?

It gets more and more annoying trying to get the last achievement
first i have to much survivors not enough food
then plenty of food but not survivors to defend my city.
and everytime i lose against hordess it's near impossible to even bounce half back

Honestly, this game is fun, but Ive found that its ultimatly a waste of time. Especially since luck is the only factor that can make you beat it in a challenging dificulty. Making boring to play after finishing it in Normal.

This hard badge might as well be impossible considering you need a godlike start and a couple dozen lucky coin flips to even stand a chance against the literally random battles.
Anyway, some tips I found are that
A) Churches will always be safe (at least during the first 3 turns) so if you start next to one, send your leader immediately.
B) Making a beeline to a corner of the map isn't always the best choice, since rural areas (farms, trailer parks and graveyards) spawn on the right side of the map, and urban (apartments, malls and rubble) will spawn on the left, so if you're going towards the right consider grabbing a couple houses first, if you're going to the left get some farms otherwise you'll starve by turn 5.
C) The game is basically an excesively long dice roll, so if you get a bad start don't be afraid to reroll and try to get something good.

I can tell you for a fact we would never cause a zombie outbreak. And, sometimes people had to eat tulips because of famine, doesn't mean they were in a cult! ;)

I sacrifice everything to reclaim that evil portal! 3 defensive buildings (just lost one of 3), 50% happiness (HAH!! as if), 15 soldiers!!! (I lost at least 10 in the fight before I claimed it). Doesn't need to be said but I'm having difficulty on harder mode

on my first game, i played normal. on day 170 I drafted a constitution, winning the game just as a zombie horde attacked my town. my original leader ended up dying, but I still won... (they said I would probably die... HA!) advice: don't get to reckless with food. I ended up losing many people thanks to starvation. I had to convert 3 suburbs into farms to survive. anyways, this game is amazing for strategy and got me thinking hard (and worrying!). 5/5

I empathize. It took me 5 years to win at the harder level on the 10 x 10 map. Still haven't done it on the 12 x 12. tough game.
