My only complaint is that vioce of king didn't seem to fit his character. Aside from that, including simple plot, it's great.

This story is so... absurd. The general's bland betrayal is nonsencisal, the commentary from the dead tyrant running at cross purposes from the story, and the king hardly a villian. This is just shoddy.

I liked sort of everything about this: how the picture fragments broke when you get the monster to 0 hp, showing another side of the story; how the king is represented, visually, during the official stories and during the game; the plot, wich in itself does not gave straight reason to any of the characters; the graphic; etc. etc. etc.

For those who wonder about it:
1- Dragon and Water affairs were obviously bad and mean.
2- As far as I can tell from the writing, I think the knight wasn't angry only because his son died, but because the full division died with him too; and, furthermore, "it was the last plan you devised". Maybe the sacrifice in itself was just pointless and victory would have been achieved through other means, i.e. negotiations.
3- The purpose of bringing the former tyrant back is to show the present king how he is deceiving himself. Of course, the tyrant was bad and nobody worried about his death, but the present king was doing bad decisions, SO NOBODY NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THEM.
Yeah, no actions profit everybody, but there are degrees.

That was fantastic. Aside from the sub-par voice acting, both story and mechanics were wholly unique and interesting. It also had the skill to hit the sweet spot between challenge and fun.

Interesting game. Was the king a villain? No. But he was self serving and thoughtless to varying degrees. In the end had he treated each of the events better then they wouldnt be demolishing his towers.

Amazing game. There are some online games with ok stories but few with great storylines. Was a bit wierd at the end when the old soldier said he'd expected the king to survive all that without any further elaboration.

it was a decent game, the voice acting is by far the best part of this game, the gameplay mechanics are frustrating at best (although i do like that just climbing is punished, however you shouldn't auto-fail from reaching the top of a floor) the art needed a little bit of work (small dialog boxes are hard to see, which shouldn't be a problem in this age of HD computers) and the story motivation didn't make complete sense; and while the 'values' of the characters are clear the ways they chose to take their revenge is strange and their motivation is odd (for example the last boss; he was supposedly a way worse guy; so we're just going to allow him revenge too, getting rid of a king who while making a few mistakes saved us from this terror)

I like this, the king might of had to make the hard decisions, decisions which bettered his people and saved more lives then otherwise. I see it as those just below him chose to only see the bad parts without thinking about how their was not much else alternative, and without a king with the will to make hard choices like that they might of cursed the kingdom, and those who live in it, to a far worse fate.

We actually have integrated the Kong API, we would just need to hit the benchmarks to be eligible for badges. We have completion, deathcount, and timer variables integrated.

Now let's sumn up evil deeds. Tyrant: greedy, selfish, violent, indifferent to problems of common folk. King: dirty bargain with water; abused dragon's trust to kill him, while negotiations were possible. General: hypocrisy, cowardice, treachery; never questioned king's decisions, but chose to break oath and plot against him. Alabaster is same as general plus: never used her magical abilities to resolve any of kingdom's problems; used sorcery exclusively to conjure monstrosities; turned deceased war heroes into an undead creature, thus making them expirience death once more, which is easily the most abominable act in this story... King didn't even make it into "top 3 bastards".

how is this story amazing?!? its just full of hypocrisy. there is no way a leader can take decisions that absolutely profite everyone. the water thing was mean but still the war tactic was ingenious and the last boss was once again full of hypocrisy. at one point he even says his actions were justified by him being the king so that means the actions of our king werent? he was even an infinitely better king that the other one and still he gets revenge? and in the end no one gets the throne so we will just get another war over it. the gameplay was nice but i really have a problem with the writing

Would be even better if they added Badges, even just so it would lead more people to play the game. Much obliged for the game :).

- Oh! The throne is empty! Who should we the new king?
-Have you considered a republic?
-Do you know what a politician is?
-Ok, pont taken, we shall find a new king, and fast!

download the song here: https://soundcloud.com/debsanderrol/life-on-a-throne. as for the game: simply superb. well-deserved 5/5. the only problem, apart from the adorably misplaced voice actng, is that following the complex story is rather difficult with godzilla-sized monsters bent on destroying you. there really should be an option to listen to the conversations without having to jump for your life.

Maybe it just took me too long to finish the game, but the sound dissapeared at the final boss in the middle of those "levels". Doubt it was planned to. If too many experienced this it might need a fix :)

What's with all the developers tagging their games as "philosophical" lately? Everything that has some story or some - quite trivial by the way - deeper meaning seems to deserve this tag in their eyes.

Pretty fun game... the story is interesting, the creators seem to have put more effort into it then most upward platformers.

Also, Dear game developers. PLEASE STOP ADVERTISING YOUR GAMES AS "ADDICTING". THANK YOU!!! Gah.. .This game was so short that it CAN'T be addicting. It is not habit forming to play this 1 hour long game.

The story is a great one. The game play is ok, but it didn't need to be revolutionary. In fact, the only thing I wish is that it were longer. 4/5 for me. 3/5 for the story, and 1/5 added from the way you told the story, and the way you represented the monsters.
