After calculation it seemed, that the best for me would be hellstone 32 (I used 30 as the one mining now). It showed that ~95% of my gain will be from manual. Too bad on hellstone 32 autoclick does "0" damage. Something bugged..

Since damage per click is (POWER*Multiplier-Defense), shouldn't we be able to enter Pick Power instead of damage per click?
Yes. However then you would also need to enter the Active damage multiplier as well. Perhaps it would have been a better way to do things in the long run, but you need to enter two changing numbers instead of just the one. (Damage per click is actually power*multiplier*(active multiplier) - defence)

I use a software called Joy2Key, it allows you to assign any key on the keyboard as well as mouse click (left and right), mouse wheel (turn and click), and mouse movement, to buttons on a joystick or gamepad. It has the option to turn on automatic firing, up to a maximum of 30/s.

I keep getting this message: "ERROR: Current DPC is negative or broken. Check the formatting is correct."
Best Ore Seen: Hellstone Lv. 70. Current Ore Mining: Hellstone Lv. 63
Damage/Click: 30,256,484.06b. Manual Clicks/Second: 8.69.
Manual Click Power: 4315% Auto Click Power: 2274%
Auto Clicks/Second: 13.51. Did I do something wrong?
Hmm this is strange, I entered all your numbers and I get Hellstone Lv. 63 is best (then 62, 61 and 64). That error message comes when it doesn't like something in the damage per click box. Try re entering that and making sure there are no invisible characters in there. I just managed to break it by using ctrl+backspace which apparently leaves an invisible character in there. You should be able to fix that by clearing the box and pressing backspace and delete a lot. I'll get a new version out that more aggressively strips out any characters that could break it (I assumed flash protected against this...) Thanks a lot for bringing this to my attention!

huh. Well, evidentially, whatever patch you tried to apply...'borked' it even further.
Apparently, wind essence is another one of those "not worth mining unless you're one-shotting it for gems or progressing to next level" type of ores.
This calculator is awesome, helping to avoid wasting time on the useless ores. :D :doublechecks that a 5-star rating has been given:
It seems to be able to find hellstone for me no matter how I type it. You do need to put the number in it, please let me know exactly what makes it fail and I'll try and fix it. Really glad you found the calculator useful, thanks for the rating!

according to the calculator, before darkstone is better to mine than the smaller magic cyrstyal, adamantium is more valuable to mine than either.
interesting.
Yep, but don't forget to stop back and check regularly as the best ore changes as your pick gets better and your power increases. Thanks for using this!
Are you referring to the leaderboard? Thats clicks per second times 1000, as Kongregate doesn't allow decimals in highscores, so treat the comma as a decimal point. Everywhere else commas are stripped out, so dont use them as a decimal marker!

it says on the idle mine game that hellstone lvl 13 gives me more money, but on here it says that hellstone lvl 12 gives me more...
Interesting. Idle mine doesn't take into account the effects of your manual clicking at all. If you set your manual clicks per second to zero then the predicted $/s figures should match (they do for me). Then if adding in manual clicking shows a different ore to mine as best the calculator has done something useful! Let me know if things don't match up as they should.
Auto clickers do seem to be quite effective. I think someone mentioned they were able to run two at once... Not sure what the limit of clicks per second flash (or the OS) can take is, although its probably close to the record someone set on this.

hehe yea it's just interesting that there is an upgrade you can buy that will lower you earning potential massively. manual power upgrade 11q auto power upgrade 515q and how i set my character up the manual power upgrade would hurt me ^_^
I'm not sure if this was before or after your shout to me, but in case anyone else is reading this, don't worry buying upgrades will never reduce your income, its just that the way the calculator is set up it isn't meant to be used for predictions of future upgrades only what's best for your current ones.

Shouldn't this consider the "other" multiplier from idle/active power (the one that goes up by playing) to calculate? btw great job, it's usefull so i stop using my calculator all the time like an idiot (although that gave me something to do while i wait :P)
It does include the other multipliers that count up, you just don't need to enter them manually. They're already accounted for when you give the damage from a specific ore. You can either manually enter [your base pick damage, active multiplier, manual multiplier] or [specific ore, specific ore damage] so I thought only having to specify two things was a winner most of the time.
Glad this was useful!

I've noticed when I add manual click power my damage goes down. Actually at 1 it went to 10qt. My current 2515% was showing 1.5 times less then when i put the power at 1515
Good question. The calculator is working correctly, and the numbers it displays are correct. If you set the auto clicks per second to 0 then you'll see that changing the manual power doesn't change the $/s. This is because you've entered the damage you do after taking into account the manual% already. Increasing the manual power just makes the auto power lower in relative terms which is why the overall $/s can drop. Let me know if this doesn't make sense, but rest assured the calculator is working correctly for your current stats and will work correctly if you bought better stats and updated the numbers.

Immensely legit. The score is x1000 as Kong stats can't take decimals, so that is 'merely' 1,645.9 clicks/second. Unfortunately I have no way to remove the obvious joke ones. If I set a limit of 20c/s then all that would happen is the leaderboard would be 20c/s all the way down. At least this way its a fair comparison of clicking programs!

Hey everybody, if you have a laptop, consider using your touch pad to click when you mine. I did the test and I did about two clicks per second better when I was using the touchpad than when I was using an actual mouse.

why do my "best ore" changes in $/sec and types , depending on what ore i enter in "currently mining"? I dont see why the ore i am mining will affect which ore will give me the highest output of money.
You have to set just under the currnetly mining how much damage you do when mining that ore. If you're doing 20 damage to poo that means you do 20 damage, if you 10 damage to iron then your actual damage to poo would be 1160. Each ore has a difference defence and if you look at the number next to damage per click you'll see that it changed depending what you're clicking.
Hah! Ok, thanks for this. I should be able to make a new version tomorrow. I don't know if this can really be 'fixed' as these numbers are just beyond what flash can actually cope with, but I'll try.
Ah yes sorry about that, there is meant to be a space between the "Lv." and the 13 (as it appears in Idle Mine), but I should make it accept this representation. You can just not write the "Lv." at all and it will work eg "Hellstone 13" is fine. Thanks for finding things that could be improved and posting! Update: I've changed the parsing so it should now work any way you write it (within reason).
Yep thats on the todo list. I hadn't reached that when I first made the calculator.
Update: I've now added both octillion and undecillion (u). Would be helpful if you know if that last one exists in the game or if its called something else.

Note to all Idle mine players who just want to mine faster: Google " Speed Auto Clicker " and download one of the autoclickers, then activate auto click at way way fast! This may be cheating, but it is awesome.

if you use a SOL editor, most of the values are pretty much labeled... So in theory you could just take them like that... But getting them apart and put into a formula... that would be some engineering...
I could theoretically try and take the data from the Idle Mine shared object, but that would take some dubious reverse engineering to find it and figure out how to use it.

One small thing, the autoclick calculation doesn't match the onscreen one. Do you need an idle power input box?
Current inputs Top ore Hellstone Lv. 40
Current Ore Hellstone Lv. 34
Damage/click 108800.10b
Clicks/s 40
MAnual Click Power: 3475%
Auto Click Power 1802%
Autoclick/s: 10.31
Outpts
Real Auto Damage/click 89786b
Which 1t 10.31 clicks/s is 925693b/s
The game says Auto Damage/s is 260545.9
Thanks for this. What it means by 'real damage' is the damage you would do if the ore had no defence (like if you were mining poo). The actual DPS you do is less than your real DPS due to the ore's defence. The calculator is doing this correctly, and you should be able to check this as the $/second figures should match if you do no manual clicking. If I rename 'real damage' to 'base damage' that might make it clearer.

could you add the ore which is best to mine for gems. i.e. the highest single auto-click. Also a gimmicky one like poo damage (so we don't have to go there ourselves wasting time-money).
Poo damage is already reported as "Real manual damage", as thats the damage you do without any defence and poo has def 0. I suppose I could change the name. You can already see which ore is automined the fastest as its any one where the hp number never changes. I could add it though.

This calculator is too oversimplified to be very useful. What about the current ratio of clicks per second to autoclicks per second? What about the benefits of getting upgrades more frequently on lower ores so you can get to higher ores faster?
Thanks for the feedback! I'm planning to incorporate auto clicks soon. I was just waiting to see if anyone was interested in this tool. As for when to upgrade, thats the bit thats left up to the player! If I made it work that out there would be nothing to do! By showing the top 5 ores I let you make an informed tradeoff between the efficiency/frequency of upgrading (...hopefully)
It seems to work when I try. You should be able to enter it as anything with the word "hellstone" in it that has a number at the end after a space, so "hellstone 16" will work or "Hellstone Lv. 16" should work. Let me know if these don't work for you. I might be able to make it work without spaces if people want that.
