Excellent start to the game, but there is an obvious exploit that kills the challenge. On the second battle, go to the upgrade screen and spend your experience to upgrade your pikeman. After you win, instead of going on to the third battle, click replay. You will have all your original experience, plus all the upgrades you purchased. So, replay the second battle and spend experience until you have all pikeman upgrades. Rinse and repeat until you have all fully upgraded units.

I have already came far and stopped by to comment. When I have got to the 1st level with the defenders, i asked myself: "What? Site-locked content?! And they have blocked the elite defenders which avoid damage?!?! This is not right, the game is for Kong and Ageofgames ONLY, and you can play this in full ONLY on Ageofgames! At least you could've blocked the elite upgrades for the defenders, i just wasted 750 exp!" Of course, this is just a great game, and the mechanics are simple, etc. etc. 5/5, but the sitelocked content without even a warning decreased this to 4/5. Sorry.

I found myself trying in vain to grind for resources. I had very upgraded units, but not enough resources to make several lines. The enemy had 3x the troops I had. Going back to earlier levels to build resources was minimally effective.

Very fun, The way its set out is awsome, Needs achivements, Maybe a button that allows a choice of manualy controlling certain units and you get to set other units to AI controlled. 5/5

Developer or anyone else who might know; Why cannot I get past Level 18 even AFTER I've WON????? Or, perhaps its "To be continued" for the sequel?????? Now THAT would be nice!

One other thing is it would be nice if an entire row would trigger their orders at once, rather than staggered. Though that might mean the targeting would need some more work

about the winnable level, the player is supposed to be lose. it's anticipate with a lot of troops, but some player is very smart and know how to win. About dividing the ending in two scenario is very interesting and challenging to me. thank you for your suggest.

to rocskillah: the point is acccuracy. the further the archer, less accuracy the attack is. that's why the maximum damage is only at melee range.

the game keeps talking about formation strategy but i haven't found it yet. i just fill the map with elite archers fronted by an appropriately contoured row of pikemen, and my 600 troops storm through the pathetic enemy "formation" with minimal losses... too much money - and apparently you can replay levels for even more money if you want??

Hate to just say the same thing over again but...comes up as site locked. Why the heck would the game come up as site locked if you ARE on Kongregate? I dont understand...

Welcome to the medievel era.
Not just a strategy game, Battle Formation also has an interesting storyline from the beginning.
Your main goal is to defeat enemy unit stronger than yours. But you have the advantages for knowing the enemy formation first, so you could preparing the anti-formation for them.
You could made a formation of 4 different troops. Each type has it’s own strengthness and weakness against others. Each troops also has it’s own special.
Upgrade for attack, defend or special of your troops is available.
Scoring system would calculate your score based on your action in battlefield.

lots of fun but should have better grafhics and more units to pick and the iterfeirence could really be stream lined and it should just lit you click to place a unit but its still very fun and who agrees

Lol level 19 "you must lose". So I smashed them all, and the game just waits until timeout to MAKE me 'lose' the battle anyway. FAIL

played this elsewhere and you can place units after choosing and it allows you to double click after that to get those same units in the full line if you want

well i tried to use my general as bait with few unit for support and kill thier general before they could just hit my commander one time but GAME CONTINUES ! it say general must live is it JUST FOR US?

lamest strategy of the year: make a huge wall of 1 men units(melee at front, archers at back), except for one row where the units will be least likely to get attacked or have any units in the way. that row put a lot of pro units

what good is calvary if it move only 1 square and no flanking option. elite calvary special should be forcing enemy to retreat 1 square, if no space to retreat, unit suffers double damage. auto fight is nice, but more order option should make the battle more tactical and interesting. it would be better if you do not know the exact formation of enemy forces but a spy report with 50% accuracy. you cant really lose because you know exactly how to place your units. by the time you get other units, it would be pointless to use them since you have already upgraded your elite spearman, archer and elite archer to a point where you don't need anything else.
