Description
Battle 15 unique enemies in this real time battle RPG combining the best elements from rhythm and fighting games.
Hitting the *Escape Key* is the only way to close the shop and achievement menu.
Different weapon types have different strengths and weaknesses. Even though spears deal the most damage, they have a much longer cooldown than other weapons!
You can read more details about the combat mechanics, weapons and spells in the manual: "http://fancyfishgames.com/rhythos/":http://fancyfishgames.com/rhythos/
This is my April One Game A Month, although I had worked on some of the basic framework back in March. I want to eventually create a whole RPG with this as the battle engine, but for now, give it a try and let me know what you think!
How to Play
*Left Arrow Key* - Attacks with equipped weapon.
*Right Arrow Key* - Casts the equipped spell (if you have enough mana).
*Up Arrow Key* - Evades attacks for a short time.
*Down Arrow Key* - Defends from attacks for a long time. Costs 750 mana.
*Enter Key* - Select.
*Escape Key* - Cancel/Close/Pause.

fun game, the 'get ready, get set fight' thing takes too long, seems like im waiting like 10 seconds for it to start, thats too long. umm i dont understand why there is a level 31 cap? surely you should be able to level indefinetly, enemies are cool but i think we need more weapons and a clear up of the shop screen, 3/5 for now
Yeah, I definitely want to expand on content, enemies, weapons, and out of battle gameplay and turn this system into a full RPG. It will take time, but it'll be worth it - I already have a lot of great feedback and suggestions for improvements. As for the level cap, at level 31, you've learned all of the spells and are more than powerful enough to defeat all of the enemies, so I capped it there, as it seemed silly to go higher, but once I add more content, higher levels are definitely a possibility!

hmm, how did anyone beat the shaman?
According to the highscores list, 12 people (including me) did. The Shaman has one pattern the entire battle: Cast, Idle, Cast, Attack. Hit down to defend when he casts his spell (just after it says "spell incoming"). If perfectly timed, the flame spell will deal 0 damage (and if well timed, it will only deal a few hundred damage). Attack and spellcast while he idles and attacks (his normal attack is pretty weak, don't bother blocking it). That should beat him!

Removal of lvl cap and new game+ would be nice.
Maybe some custom stats or talents just so you customize a bit more.
Nice beta so far.

After finishing this, I honestly do enjoy it, it has an engaging combat system.
But in all total honesty? That is mainly what it feels to be, a demo of an excellent combat system. If you ever released a version of this with more of an RPG feel to it (Adventure mode, and stat points, or something different to happen during a level up other than the occasional spell unlock.) I would honestly pay good money for it. It doesn't do much, but what it does, it does beautifully, at that I am looking forward to the premise of the story, simply going from what the last boss said anyway.
Good work, I am looking forward to future releases, and if more time sinks were implemented, as well as more features, I could easily see this as a well selling Indie game, without a doubt.
Thanks a lot! That's definitely where I'm heading, and with all the feedback from the arcade BETA, I'll have a much better combat system to go along with my RPG elements! I hope you'll enjoy the full version when I release it!
