I expected one of those dumb point and click MacGyver games where you run around collecting rubber bands and napkins that can only be used in an extremely specific way........so I guess I'm happy enough with the outcome......parts of it dragged on a bit though

Why do you incorporate black levels? Fumbling in the dark dodging obstacles without clues is frustrating, cheap level design and adds nothing in neither gameplay nor visuals, and the emotional message of those levels were entirely too unclear to warrant the frustration.

If this game ever makes it big, maybe they could get the Boston song as a soundtrack. I'm a little dubious that's going to happen.

I agree with blizard, this game really needs a higher rating, and more plays too, the rating is probably due to all the people who are like "oh theres a gun but there isnt enough shooting 1/5" when its not like that at all, the game really interested me, and even though i dont have the patience to sit here and figure out what the ending meant to me personally (XD), i still throughly enjoyed it, and i liked the few sly tricks to try and make you go backwards :P
Oh i also figured out you can get two shots in on his head at a time if your good at timing your jumps, because if you shoot him as soon as the top platform appears, as it disappears, you can jump and shoot again :P
Definatly deserves my 5/5.

Not a big commenter, but this game was worth it. Been on Kongregate for years and this is easily my favorite game. Great mix of simple game-play, fun use of old graphics, and an actual interesting story. Games like this one, The Majesty of Colors, The Company of Myself, How to Raise a Dragon, and quite a few others really do deserve their own category, maybe Story-Driven? Anyways, a shout-out for being the only game on this site worth replaying every few weeks for well over a year.

Great idea, great story, great sound and fun with just the right amount of challenge. It's always impressive when a game provokes an emotional response, doubly so when it's a Flash game.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER : I agree that yes, it was all in his mind. He lost his love and was standing over her grave fantasizing that he could travel to the underworld and get her back as Orpheus did for his wife Eurydice. That tie in is brilliant. I too agree with previous posters that these types of games deserve their own catagory. Again, very well done.

I don't understand why people are bitching so much about it being so hard. Yes, it wasn't easy... but it wasn't hard. It maybe took me 20 minutes AT MOST to finish. And if it's lagging for you, then that's on you... Not the developer. It ran just fine on my computer, and my computer is a couple years old. This game was simple, challenging, and I love Greek Mythology tied in. :)

I love all these games where it isn't really obvious what is happening, and the game lets you take from it what you will.

This is a game for blind people. Almost everything is invisible and you have to just guess if you should jump or shoot based on a loud crunching sound.

I wondered why I apparently gave this game one star years ago. I remember now. Not gonna change my rating. It's just too stressfull for me.

For those raging about difficulty, some hints: you don't have to kill everything in order to get through. If you kill one critter and leave to the left, it will be gone for good and you will be check-pointed, making it a lot easier to finish the rest. For the bosses, the first one may only be hurt on his back, so you have to make him jump over you to shoot him the first 2 times. Then he'll leap right at you, so you jump over him this time around and finish him. For the second one, you have to hit his face you may hit him once the time you fall into battle, and shoot him again after he recovers, giving you two hits right off the bat. Then your platform will fade, but the other one will appear, so you don't have to touch the critter-filled ground at all. If you are fast enough he'll only shoot you once, and then you finish him. Hope you guys stop being butthurts and, if you still can't have fun with this, + this so others will.

Clunky is not strong enough word for this game. The slow motion action is horrible. And it is not well balanced. The difficulty is in the first half of the game and then it is like the developer decided to just toss some extra things in but was limited by the "don't look back" and none of those challenges are actually challenges. They just delay the end of the game which should have ended after the final boss.

I especially like the added difficulty of a one second delay for all the keypresses. It makes a pointlessly difficult game even more pointlessly difficult. 1 star.

Spent rest of the game not looking back at Eurydice and i die at the end :( However it was a great rendition of the greek myth and i enjoyed playing it whilst seeing a new ending to it!:)

if you enjoy thius all well and good but it's not my cup of tea, especially when I die for the fiftieth time to te same enemy because I'm too dumb to figure out how to beat them T^T
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
its got some good concepts for a game but the thing I couldn't get past was the fact that some levels if you died you'd have to redo the previous 3 or 4 levels as well. 2/5 for the poor saving scheme.

after the section where you run over the sea while the platforms disappear, die, and then hold the right arrow key while singing "we will rock you"

Until Cerberus is at 1/3 health, stay on the ground and run under his leaps to shoot his unguarded rear end, after that jump to avoid him and shoot on the way down.

Wow, this is a great game. at first i thought that dog was the last boss, but it keeps onn going... Beat the last boss... keeps on going Then the ending, which in a way was preety sad. and a tip for the last boss: u can hit him once on the way down then again on the platform, and it is possible to hit him twice each time u get on the top platform by jumping and shooting just before the platform dissapears. but overall, i give this game 5/5
