To me, first, the meaning of the title was litterally not to look back not to get his beloved gone. But then, when he looked at himself alone in front of the grave, the title was written again, "Don't look back", which gave it another meaning : what he did by trying to get his woman back was trying to change his past. He had looked back. That's why he disappeared ! Nevermind, no need to talk about the game : it's deep enough for everyone to have their own thought.

to those who dont know this game is based on ancient greek mythology about when Orpheos goes to the underworld to save his dead wife uredessy from the Greek god Hades and when he gets there he plays a very sad song(he was a master of the harp)so hades tells him he can bring her back but he can not look back or else she will be dragged back to the underworld. +this so people can see whats the meaning of this game

how much I love Orpheus and the myths, this one actually improved it! If only he (standing at the grave) looked back and THEN faded the game would've been perfect.

any1 else see a connection 2 greek mythology with oryphese and the nymph (sorry if i spelled anything wrong i only know the story)

I wonder..... the story says that Orpheus can't look back until he reaches the upper world. Did anyone try to look back once you got out of the underworld and before you reached the grave?

if i had to guess... i would say this game is based off the old greek myth of the man who went to the underworld to find his deceased love, and made a deal with hades who said that he could only have her if he led her out without looking at her

It is a reference to Orpheus, who following the death of his wife went into Hades to get her back. All he had to do was leave without looking back at her. But at the very end he looks back and loses her forever. Very well done

for the dog:
it takes 3 shots
1) stay in place and on his third jump run underneath him then shoot his back
2)stay close to him and he should jump right over you. shoot his back
3) this is the hardest one which i can't pass but i'm guessing you have to jump over him this time

actually, this game is an allusion to the games which our mind plays with us.........the loved one is gone....but still the heart is not ready to accept the truth.......in the end the guy is shown again standing in front of his lover's grave......this shows that all the while ,...his adventure had been in his mind...it had been a way to seek solace by wanting to have her back.....it had been his yearning and longing, and he dreams or rather in his mind tries to make his longing a reality and thinking about having her back through his adventure, but he was only visualising it.... it never really happened..........................

A retro-pixel art pseudo-philosophical platformer where you play as a dude who wants to get to his girl. It's not exactly original, even for 2009. But mythology based games are always nice, the game is simple fun, and the art is...well, it's atari-ish, so the art is faithfully single color shapes, but the palette/atmosphere is nice. The music kind of clashed with the art though. Gameplay wise, I don't like when platformers don't let you control the height of your jump, but it wasn't too much of a problem. I do like when games simply restart the screen when you make a mistake, really prevents you from getting frustrated from losing progress. The monochrome sprites were only an issue once, because I didn't expect the mid boss to have a "weak spot", but once I figured that out I understood it for the boss.

Games like "loved" , "don't look back" and "the company of myself" should have their own category. Also, people should make more games like these

This game is amazing, we need more games like this!
I was surprised how much easier it was the second time I played this! :P

@heycoolguy1 and HavenL: To defeat the dog boss, you need to shoot him in the back 3 times. You can get the first 2 shots by running underneath him when he does a high jump at you. For the 3rd shot, when he jumps at you, you need to jump over him. Then you can turn around and give him the 3rd and final shot. And to answer the questions before they come up, the defeat the six arm demons, you need to jump and shoot in mid-air. Their counterattack will aim for where you were when you shot, and will miss you on the ground. It takes 4 shots to kill them. As for the final giant demon boss, it takes 5 shots. To get the 5th shot in his head, wait until he stops firing fireballs, and instead summons stalactites. That's when it is safe to jump up the platforms and shoot him. I hope this helps.

Oh, and for the dog... It's easy if you run to the left squiggly line (but not close enough for it to kill you) and shoot forward. The dog will bounce backwards everytime it tries to pounce at you, showing its back, making it an easy kill.
