This game is one of the best made games ever made. Even without words or anything. A man whose wife died and he along died with her not physically but emotionally. He looks back but he knows she will won't be there. So simple yet the story line was great.

It seems like every level is a boss battle, especially the levels at the end. But still good, and the story line is good too. 4/5

For everyone was was wondering...to kill the dog you have to run under it while it jumps or jump over it when it's standing and then shoot it in the butt. Wash, rinse, repeat, and you have yourself a dead dog!

Well it is not a bad game, but I think the metaphor is not THAT deep, the use of the mythology of not looking back is interesting but hardly ground breaking, and personally, I know this might sound a little shallow, but I think the 8 bit graphics detract a little from the game, and a smoother finish would have given the game a little more gravitas, though the sound track was nice, I felt parts of the game play were a little clunky with the jumping (esp the horizontal lightning bolt near the end) Personally I much prefer games where agility is not a major hindrance to gameplay(Gunbot and final ninja based purey on controls). I was going to give 3 stars, mainly because that horizontal lightning bolt annoyed me lot, but I settled for a more generous 4 mainly because I liked the music and the attempt to put in a theme unlike some other games though I felt 4 was a bit generous 3.5 stars for me ideally

I agree with gasman86 on his versoin of the meaning. I also found that "don't look back" can be seen as a more metaphorical action. If the main character doesn't remember her death, if he can bury that memory, than he can pretend that she is still with him, until reality hits him, and his fantasy is shattered. And if you want the happy verson, you could say tht she lives on in his mind as he lives an exiting life killing bats, snakes, and demons in hell. Im still goin with the sadder version, because its not as lame.

I don't know about everyone else but this game's controls were really laggy for me. It's already hard enough without huge lag.

Atmospheric, well-written, and overall not much fun to play. I really don't get the love for this game, it's artistic but not particularly good as a game.

I now know it doesn't take good graphics to make a good game, but good game play whether or not it isn't original or not and a beautiful storyline.

I was not expecting to actually be affected by the ending of this. Very much reminds me of the story of Opheus, except with a twist I honostly didn't expect.

5/5 5 stars. A fantastic minimalist masterpiece that has a philosophical flair. We really need a category for games like these.

Amazing game very deep and complex storyline. This has to be one of the best flash games i have played in a long time. The story has very touching and sand ending, this should definitely be one of the top rated games on kongregate. TerryCavanagh is one of the greatest game designers of our time. 100/5

5/5 game. Overall well-done! As to the story, I know it. The gun represents his Harp, and this was the tale of a Bard.
This actually was a mythological reference. I don't remember the name, but it was about the most famous bard of the time, and he was so great, no one could resist the beautiful tunes of his instrument. He calmed Cerberus with his melody, even drove him to sleep, as well as ease the souls of Hades domain. Passed through, and begged Hades for the life of his loved one. Persephone, Hades Stockholm-syndrome wife, agreed. So Hades said "Don't look back until you leave, or I'll take her from you."
We don't know what makes him look back, but as the story goes, he does...

its a great day in kong when you can play an inquisitively deep game, then quickly change to headshotting bunnys for an hour.

It is a reference to Orpheus, who following the death of his wife went into Hades to get her back. All he had to do was leave without looking back at her. But at the very end he looks back and loses her forever. Very well done
