It didn't take me long to beat this game. I recognized the Orpheus reference early on, and I got really into it after that.
The ending caught me off guard, but it was incredible. So sad and beautiful. It made me weep.
This is certainly one of the best games I've ever played.

... I can't tell if I'm damaging the dog or not, and I can't tell if the dog is supposed to occasionally go through the barrier that damages me but not him?

genuinely one of my favorite games, I think about it years after I've played it, with how simple it is and how effectively it gets across the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The ending broke my heart. Love it

So I finished the game, went back to the start and found myself, after all that quest to save my girl from hell. Mindblown!

Note: the dog boss can be killed in three shots, it just has to be from behind. Probably because when you shoot it from the front, he eats them. Anyways, this is a great game, and I hope their will be more like it.

It's the story of Orpheus. Going to the underworld to save his love and not being able to look back to see if she is actually behind him.

This game went deep into my heart. To not having the ability to look at your loved one must be heart-braking, and then discover that it was all a dream made up of your longing to the person you so desperatly need... Real sad and beutiful. 5/5 and fav

seems like all art games are pixellated...probably because they want you to focus less on the graphics and more on the message

/SPOILER/ SPOILER/ SPOILER/ I dont know what think... the monsters really kill me but in the end i am dead, or idk, (I like the game but.. very very dark to my) 5/5 Nice Job. (MAKE MORE GAMES!)

My way of viewing this is sort of him going through his depression, manifest by these monsters. First he is confused, and he can't really believe she's gone. Then he's angry, slaying monsters. When he finds her, he's in denial, believing he can get her back. The "don't look back" part is two things: him blaming himself for her death, and him believing that if he does everything right, he can get her back. Great game, mny shades of meaning, 5/5.

The first time I saw Cerberus I remembered the myth and I was all "Hello doggu! Can I sing for you?". And the doggy tore me to pieces.
Overall this is a wonderful game, with a great atmosphere, and it manages to be hard without being too frustrating, despite involving lot of deaths. 5/5

Awesome! Just awesome! :>
I really, really like the atmosphere of the game and it's retro-style, that just FITS!
It's so good! :)
And the background relating to Orpheus and Eurydike is so good.
But... the music is so sad :'(
Good Job, Mr. Cavanagh!
I already found VVVVVV amazing (which came afterwards :D), but i like this too :3
Just cool!

man you try going to hell by defeating 2 evil underworld dudes to save your loved one then coming out of that amazingly deep cave through a different route (there isnt one way into hell??)
climbing up several ropes and a cliff getting back to your loved ones grave (coming back you cant look back) and then dissapearing as if it was all for nothing
still sad *sigh* 5/5
