okay concept, not very well executed. It needs a lot of work - issues with controls locking up, health system is not consistant (probably should be removed), etc. Can't give full review as I am unable to complete the game due to bugs.

Water and Food glitched up so now I can eat a negative amount of fish and drink negative water :P Lol 3/5 for the idea, Not a fan of it though

Brilliant game, I especially like the plot twist. I must admit the constant fishing and collecting water can get annoying, but overall definatly one of my favourite games, Whens the next one?. :)

I like the idea, btut why on earth does my health keep dropping when he is talking? It ruins the game because you don't feel like what he is saying is important, or when that is the fact, you are almost dead by the time you finish. Really should change that.

After I finished the game I went to look at the 'secret items' but after returning from reading the backstory the page was blank grey and I couldn't view any of the others

There is a way; the story warns you about dangers and suggests you find a weapon, which you need to equip and club them with, just takes some reading and puzzle solving.
However I'm aware of how bad the crabster combat is and as it was only a late addition it isn’t really needed so I have removed them.
RE: Translation, nouns are alien-ish words, think of BSG with frak, cubit, centons etc, I have done this for the reason of setting up a rich alien environment, bit by bit, the more games the words are used in the more familiar they will be. This game isn't translated from English, it is a device, one which is intended for long term familiarity.
Thanks for all the constructive criticism & feedback, I’m working on the larger more polished sequel, taking what I have learned here and applying it. I’m also working on some smaller projects which will be out much sooner.

Running in circles from crabs that walk through walls isn't a fun game. An obvious way of defeating them would be appreciated.

It's annoying that everything translates fine into English, except nouns. Which are all close enough to English for me to translate, but apparently not whatever means translated everything else from alienese. Just comes off annoyingly campy.
Also, the "take" button should be more prominent in color. I don't know how many fish (er... whatever the alienese word for fish that doesn't translate into English is) I caught, wondering why they never made it into my inventory.

Minuses: Needs save function, combat needs improvement, movement is laggy and weird sometimes. Plusses: Great setting and story, great art, high quality gameplay. I suggest making the character face the mouse cursor at all times and attack the cursor when you click.

I love games like this, and would like to see more with a similar theme/genre from you, this was awesome. The interface and graphics are superb, the menus and coding is good aside from a few bugs, and I loved the Lost -like atmosphere of it. We need more games like this!

this is a great game, im giving it a 4/5 only because of the plethora of buggs: being able to fish while paused, being attacked while paused, infinite loop with the last data disk, annoying as hell to kill the freakin crabs, i had full suit damage and wasnt dead, confusing story, the "wrist watch" thing, no real penalty for being outside during day, and several others, however, as i said, the gameplay was good and i really enjoyed it

IMPORTANT
the second time you return to the stash to open the locker with the combination, DO NOT PICK UP THE DATA DISK AGAIN
if you do, you will need to return north to read the disk again before going south again to punch it in, as long as after your 3ed trip south, you dont pick that data disk up a 3ed time

Lacking save function and some music would be nice. Other than that the lobster just serve as a nuisance which could be made do without. Not bad overall but the ending lacks climax, which is a quite shame.

very nice game, excellent atmosphere, i especially enjoyed that there's whole world behind the game's story. a save feature would be a good-to-have, wasd for walking a must. 5/5.

ok,
good game, like the survival elemtn of it but story is far too complex, i didn't know what teh generator looked like and after finding the data disks and reading them they didn't make sense, i had 4 and it told me to find more which is slightly annoying.
also i lost my game to check out the bonus content :(
despite this i give it 4/5
enjoy seeing the next one.

Good. There temperature graph would sometimes creep up while I was inside shade and shelter. Stepping out and back in fixed it.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
excellent for a first
i can't write good paragraphs, so here is a more basic overview:
audio: lacking music, remember to put in an obvious mute button if you decide to add some
graphics: very good, but you do say you're more of an artist than a coder
bugs: there may be a few, but they are easily squashed, nothing so drastic as leaving the world behind and finding yourself knee-deep in crabs
controls: mouse and arrow keys, if you're a righty using a trackpad, this is highly impractical, i'd add an option to use wasd keys
gameplay: story is kinda interesting, hard to follow sometimes, but still pretty good, the dialogue in some places doesn't fit very well, for example, if you pick up the rod, desalinator, and rudder before going into the structure on the sw side of the first island, you get completely unconnected pieces of script that don't flow
overall: good game, take your time on a sequel so that it's really good

Good game with the potential of a great game. Couple suggestions tho: controls seemed a little mushy (could just be my retarded computer), fix the pause button, and combat was a little difficult since I couldn't quite tell what counted as a hit. 4/5 tho.
