Those snake things are a bitch to kill and if you lose your weapons and there are 2+ it is impossible to kill them since 1 will constantly have its tail hidden behind the other.

Go through some suggestions and do a half-decent update and this gets 4/5 from me. Right now it's a bit frustrating although the looks/theme are charming.

Despite its shortcomings it is crazy addictive.
It would be nice, though, if we were allowed to not have to hold down the mouse button.

it's fun, but i agree about the weapons and things. it is however cute and reminds me of bein a kid and playin atari for that it's worth a 4

I've played this on a different site ages ago. I like it, although, the game is pretty frustrating due to the loss of all upgrades of one weapon. That makes lives absolutely worthless. If you get hit in a higher level, losing a weapon means you're dead. 10 lives only make you survive a few seconds longer.

er gradius ahah whatever been a long time.
btw if you want a high score just pick up straight and narrow attacks like megawatt and low levels fire walls and skip the seeking weapons like megabite.
At the first green biohazard looking boss, just farm the gears he tosses and make sure not to damage the boss itself. each gear pops a 300 point, slow countdown chip to snap up and the difficulty never raises.
Imo remove the points from the gears and maybe mix the bosses up a bit. Endless Charlie Chip Bosses get old =)

5/5 as this little gem bought a boffo right back to the old school raiden hardcore scrollers hehe.
The penalty for getting hit is pretty effing brutal as the series it emulates so that's more a design decision than a mark against.
Most powerups are easy to understand but well no idea to this moment what magnetron does other than possibly take a hit hehe.
To soften the game play a bit Might want to add a shield powerup that always takes the first hit , preserving the other powerups.
Fantastic game.

It wouldn't be as painful to lose a weapon if the guy wasn't the size of half the screen and died when the tiniest thing hit. No room to move to compensate and get back on track. What do some of the powerups even do? Couldn't tell.
On the up side, easy controls and interesting graphics. I like the screen around the play area, nice classic touch.

I really enjoy this, except for some common shmup flaws: the first two times I played, powerups came thick and fast, but now they take forever to arrive. Second, enemy fire (those red spheres) are EXTREMELY difficult to read through the confusion on screen, including the background. Sometimes I die, and don't have any idea why because the bullets were practically invisible. If you can make it easier to see, that would be awesome.

Stop the cargo cult! I am sick of shmups that take your weapons away on death. It is the most retarded way to punish a player... So I made it to level 5 without dying, then died once, lost my powerful weapon, and, naturally, lost my remaining lives in a quick succession.. No fun in that..

You guys are incredibly stereotypical. This is how classic shmups play. I'f you hate this, you are ignorant to all the classics

Fun until you die... 2/5
Fix powerups and maybe people will like it. Fun to play a couple times and then you just get frustrated and close it.

i love it!
*for those of you who don't want to hold the mouse button*, drag the cursor off the game while holding the button. let go outside the game, when you bring the cursor back it will still be firing until you click in-game.

Keep in mind this powerup system is tried and true, In Soldier Blade you lose all you're powerups, Same in R-Type (And you get to redo the whole lvl =/ ) And in gradius you just die and respawn with a pea shooter

Absolutely terrible system of powerup loss on death. Many manic shooters have this, but the slippery slope here is taken to the furthest extreme. Could care less if it's not retro, lmb should toggle fire. 3/5

this has to be the worst power up sytem ever..... i had like everything full and at one boss BAM down to anti virus lvl1 2/5

Fun game. Nice visuals, very cool upgrades, can be simple at times, but also can be really hard if you lose your upgrades.

This game has potential. Beautiful graphics. I'd work on the gameplay a bit. I'd like to see a "shield" or something in play so that surprises from the edges of the screen don't instantly kill a player and force them to lose a life. Otherwise keep up the good work.

Make the controls tighter, the character smaller, and rewards based on points rather than based on designated enemies. A few extra different levels might be nice. Loved the computer references.

Character should follow cursor faster, now it's really easy to go outside game screen, and it usually cost few lives.
You can hover over hud in lower part of the screen, and this mans extra mouse move to move character up (everything becouse of character not sticking to cursor, but following it).
When You loose live, You loose whole upgrade too, that sucks (I had x7 firewall, everything gone after one hit).
Becouse of this flaws, I can give only three (movement is main problem).

Very good, but I'd like to see an option to use the keyboard to control. Mostly 'cause I've played a bit too much Touhou.
