It's easy to see that a lot of love and hard work went into this game... but trying to get anything out of that careful dedication is a challenge. I've played three full matches so far; but I've been fighting the confusing UI, the deceptive tooltips, and the plethora of unexplained mechanics far more than I've been fighting my opponent. I can see the potential for this game to be amazing, but it needs serious UI and UX work to realize that potential.

I am new player and have found that you can only have 1-2 +++ champions but thats ok and its a really good game. 5/5 and thats an understatement.

Dealing with fortress/archbishop/[annoyingPiece]: use cheap champions (8-12pt. range). If the opponent trades with you, you sacrifice a 10ish pt. champion for their fortress, and you benefit. Fortress is just a big bully that can't actually do anything to you.

honestly, I think fortress and archbishop should be nerfed too... basically shortening the "move or attack" by one would satisfy me, but I know a lot of people really like these pieces so... Anyone know a good counter for them?

Tips on dealing with expensive pieces. If you have a piece cheaper than them, you can practically ignore them (the opponent will LOSE if they trade pieces with you).
Other tips: You can lose to the daily challenge on purpose to lower the win ratio.
Dryad is ridiculously underrated for its current value (as of the Aug16,2020 update).
The Bot AI sucks at calculating poison effects and bombers. It will even use the king to attack snakes and bombers (much to hilarious result, especially during puzzle-challenges).
A protected cheap piece can ignore attacks from expensive enemy pieces, simply because the opponent will not be willing to trade attacks in those situations.
If you win without the opponent making a move, you get a +100 intimidation bonus. (I have no idea why, but I got it and it's cool!)
Expensive and powerful pieces usually do better late-game than early-game (+35 turns).

A quick tip for the daily challenge is if you win once you can purposefully lose to lower the win to lose ratio with no penalty to you.

some people got triggered when they read my last comment, sorry if you were one of them. I was just excited, I have never beat the challenges that quick!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I just beat today's challenge in under 30 moves and that a record for me, I hope not many people find it out so I can get more rubies!

What happens? after the update I lose with stronger players than me and I always lose -6 -9 -10 , when do I win +3?!?!? O_o

Why do Kongregate and this game have to load 1400+ files from several dozens of third party domains? This makes it impossible to ensure that no malicious content or dubious sites are being opened in the background. The Chat got turned off in most games, but the website still loads stuff like crazed; the power consumption of Kong alone probably doubles the melting of the polar caps.

That was the most epic game ever. We are down to final move in Move Decay, while I have 5 pts left. If they take any of my pieces, they win. I check their king. Instead of taking any random one of my pieces, they move their king out of check and I win via Move Decay. Daaaaaaaaaang I LOVE THIS STRATEGY GAME!!!!

There could be an option to set a PvP deck and a PvE deck separately. So we don't have to play against the infernal bot with the PvP deck.

ohh my goodness, this is too much of a leap from standard chess for me.. might take some time to get used to it.
great game tho

so if someone suggests customisable boards you downvote him, if someone literally disses chess by saying he cant play it you upvote him, and if i say ANYTHING you downvote ME!

REMINDER TO EVERYONE! When Flash dies, older versions of browsers will still have native Flash support. When Flash dies, if you want to keep playing, get an older version of Chrome, Firefox, or whatever, and run it through that

i am a gm and i just lost cause the game glitch and the opponent(mezzo) just moved twice in a row. even he did not know wtf as up. can someone who is actually watching over the game check that out. and th game as been have some random internet problem.
except errors the game is amazing and challenges keep it really fresh. the pieces are surprisingly more balanced then i thought

today's challenge was a piece of cake, the "block one attack" ability can be used super offensively, just bait the dragon and charge ahead with the duelist piece (I forget what its called) and kill the king.

just because a unit can't target another unit (example: behemoth can't be targeted by minions) doesn't mean its effects are nullified. (Such as when killed by melee poison this unit or kill the unit if destroyed )
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@firemorfox Behemoth can't be TARGETED by minions. Bombers ability is a triggered event. So it makes sense that bombers kill behemoths. Why the AI decides to do it is a different story.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I don't know if this is a glitch or not, but behemoths die when killing a bomber. The AI seems programmed to thing behemoths kill bombers safely too, so are bombers' death ability supposed to beat behemoths?

To elaborate more on what I said previously (blitz tokens make your next game a blitz game: 20 second turns, 2 minute extra time, extra money after the game (or only after you win idk)):
You can click on the blitz token to disable it. This will disable your blitz token (click again to enable it), but you may still be put in one if your opponent has one (i think).
You can tell if you're playing against a person by hovering your mouse over their picture. If the report icon shows up, it's a person. Otherwise it's a bot.
Lastly challenges are a great way to get rubies. You get unlimited tries and on average you get ~17 rubies a day which will let you buy specific units you want.

idk how to edit comments, so I'm reposting without typos:
I get that prices need to be at a loss, but a demon+ can be bought for the equivalent of a little over 120,000 gold and is sold for 10,000. I think that's a little too big of a difference.
