Ttursas, Would you be able to make it so when you get the special balls, they don't go when you want to play it again? Just fade them out a bit, because then it's harder to get a higher score because you can't get the points from them.

gamerlukeee, well, we had very young testers at one mobile games company, the youngest was 21? But age doesn't matter there, experience does. I've also seen people who don't play or have played three games in their lives, working in the business, and man do they suck... They don't have a clue.

Most of all, create your own demos or even complete games on your free time. That's more valuable than any university degree you can get, if you want a job in the games industry. But both a degree and a couple of demos, that's the best way to go.

gamerlukeee, it's good that you study on your free time. Getting good grades will help you getting into the games business. :) Depends on what you want to do. If you want to become a tester (the easiest way to get into games) you need to play a lot, and different kinds of games. Programmers need maths and programming skills. And social skills as well, a little. :) A designer with math skills would be really something, they don't usually understand the formulas they are creating...

I think i'd fail at games :) i play them too much aha. But I don't get much spare time with school and in my spare time I do like rugby and coursework and study for my exams. what qualifications do you need to get into the game industry?

Anyway, instead of spending all your free time on booze and bars and watching sports, you could always make a game like this instead, or something better. :D

gamerlukeee, when you get older, consider getting into the games industry. :) I work as a game programmer, and wish we had testers with your skills...

On an ordinary business day I spent something like 0-3 hours on making Ball Drop One, and 3-20 hours every weekend. But min 15 hours a week, I guess.

I've worked on this one for something like hmm three months now, but not every day. And I do have a full time job that takes most of my time. :) But too long if you ask me. And I spent too much time playing the damned game while coding it...

Ok, reaching "lightspeed" doesn't explode the balls. I reset the highscoretables, and I'm expecting to get a lot of flame for this. :) Anyway, if people still have the energy to play the game, it should be better now...

hay im sorry i hacked i was try a new program a found and just wanted to see if i work o right. but other than that i love this game a lot 5/5

acidDICA, I can remove all the statistics, and along with them go the associated highscore tables, afaik. But let's see how that works.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
destroying balls when they hit 'lightspeed' seems a horrible fix - encouraging us to thrust less - reducing interactivity. Maybe just put a cap on the speed instead - if it goes over, dx and dy are reduced until (dx*dx)+(dy*dy)=k?

Argh, guys, good points. I can remove the Kong's hiscore statistics and recreate new ones with new names. I guess what you suggest is the only way to go as there have been too many exploits and some people have hacked the game to reach high scores.

Sorry, gamerlukeee, can't return the scores, my scripts wiped them out. :( But I'll give you special thanks here and on my website (after I finish my lunch).
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
But as soon as you've lowered potential scores, the game just benefits anyone who has a save file from an older version or submitted a score during the older version.
I guess you could annoy everyone, make your website only accept scores from the later version and not accept save files from a previous version. But what about the kong. scores?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I think you should do a free mode, where you can boost as much as you want :) just for like fun, and compare scores on there as well.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Well, let's see how this works... I need to go and grab something to eat, will be back later, hope my "fix" doesn't ruin the game as well...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Ah yeah, I just saw that :) But I got it like just off three boosts :/ aha I think it should be allowed to go a bit faster than that
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
gamerlukeee, ok, you can score again! :) But I had to add a limit to boosting due to what you found... From now on, if you guys boost the balls too much, they go boom. :)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Nah, i didn't cheat. If you let it get high off the screen, then slomo the ball when it comes back down and keep boosting towards the floor, if it gets a good bounce then it goes even higher! Then you can just slomo it again when it comes down again, to make it go even higher. if you use like loads of boosts, that's how you get it so high.
i don't cheat on games.

For the sequel, how about giving each Octopus finite uses? Then that'd stop the potential of infinitely large scores, like on 2-2.
