To Tukkun (from your reply): I didn't use any third-party program, it's probably the browser and/or memory, the same as typing this comment.

My save disappeared. Sometimes it saves, sometimes everything is lost and I have to start completely over. This is in version 3.06.
Hi, have you tried changing the font in the main menu yet? The "n" and "h" in the default font are somewhat similar, so maybe YOU are confusing them, not the game.

I must say, this is an incredible game! It's really helping me to learn the Japanese characters when nothing else was working!! :D Love it hyaku%

A speed option would be nice, a type a little too fast for the slow scroll speed. Also if you turn the heads of the enemies around, we're being attacked by Duck swordsman. 5/5

I already know hiragana, so it's a bit of a grind to go through the adventure mode's first half just to get to katakana. Free play is there at any time however, so it's fine. 5/5 and d. Very helpful game!

これは素晴らしいゲームです 5/5. It is nice to see educational games on Kong. One minor nitpick I have is that hearing the pronounciation might be helpful for beginners. Incorporating vocabulary would also be interesting, for example seeing the word 'love' and having to type in 'ai' in kana or vice versa. Even if you're planning on making a Kanji game, this kind of thing would probably be easy to implement. Keep up the good work and thanks once again :D

This is a really good game actually. You should feel proud knowing that you've probably helped a bunch of people learn kana xD The only problem I have is that the 'n' looks too similar to 'h'. At one point I did manage to mistake them and input the wrong answer. Though to be honest it could just be me. Also it would be neat if there two 'adventure' modes. one for each hiragana and katakana. So that we could go straight to katakana if we wanted to instead of having to go through the first 25 levels

Can someone send me a link where I can find that Character List so I can print it... I tried to find it on Google but it's not nearly as good as here...

Am I the only one who has terrible lag? Gam freezes for a second or two and when it unfreezes ninjas are too close to react :(
Are you using a low-end computer? Opening too many other programs? Switching to low quality, disabling background? Zooming out your browser? Have you tried refreshing?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Hey! Just a small problem, I stopped at level 4 yesterday and used "CCleaner" to clean my computer and it took away the cookies so now I'm back at level 1. If you could, it'd be useful to make sure it stays maintained! I'd feel bad for people at the higher levels.
Hi, it has always been well known that CCleaner at its default configurations will wipe out Flash games' savefiles. You should be more careful in the future when using such programs, and it is strongly advised that you back up your data (search for a file called kanaW.sol in the folder chat.kongregate.com, that is your Kana Warrior savefile). Unfortunately, this is not a problem I can resolve and there's nothing I can do about it. Well, maybe I can restore your savefile but since you were only level 4 it's not really worth the effort.

Level 40 and onwards is impossible...and the difficulty has little to do with getting the words right, more to do with the laser moving up and down and the number of tiles
Well... perhaps you need more practice on your Hiragana and Katakana? I have played through the game myself to confirm that it is not impossible, and someone has even perfected all the stages. Based on your statistics I can tell that although you have cleared 39 stages your scores are relatively low, so maybe you should go back to previous stages to get more practice? :P Remember that although it's great to be able to get the words (technically they aren't words) right, speed is very important too.

Heya! I've been working on my Japanese for a little while now, and this is a great way to learn! If I had one point of criticism so far, it's the fact that we don't have to ace a level before moving on to the next one.
As completionist as this may sound, I think it's important that we know certain characters before moving on to learning new ones. It's important to learn things bit by bit.
But other than that, this is great!
You actually get only 10 lives on each level, so you would still need to know previous characters to a certain extent. Plus, there are occasional "review" levels where characters from previous levels appear. Since this is just a game I tried to make it more lenient so everyone can enjoy it, but if you feel that you MUST get 100.0 on a level before moving on to the next, nothing stops you from doing it! (Even if you are good at the language, getting 100.0 on some of the later levels can still prove to be difficult)

The game that learnz japaneze? AND FROM THE ANTI-IDLE CREATOR?!!?!
All haill Tukkun! god of anti-idling, japanese, pixels, and dragons!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Thank you, Tukkun! You did a great job, making this game. One of the good examples how combining leisure and learning might enhance both. It's fun and useful. I hope you'll keep it up and continue creating those nice little game to help people learn Japanese in their free time
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This is fantastic! I think the only thing I'd really ask for would be the use of different typefaces, just to account for the different ways you might see the text.
Are you usng a third-party program that allows you to type in a different language? Such programs may interfere with keyboard input and make this game work improperly.

Good game for people new to Japanese.
"Warrior" is one of those funny words in katakana.
It can be ウォリアー or ウォーリア and both are correct.
It's a personal quirk, but I always felt ウォリアー sounded more like "worrier" and ウォーリア like "warrior."

just 1 suggestion your n looks like an h thanks to the little head of your n , and i make mistakes and get confused because of that
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Sometimes in an obstacle destroy stage I press the spacebar once but it shoots twice, causing me to get a miss when I didn't make a mistake.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Feature request: option to toggle character/question change on failure for the obstacle destroy mode. I accidentally hit right arrow at the wrong time, so I go to correct it and miss again. Every. Time.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Nice game, only problem I had that the n and h look very similar (at least to me). But other than that everything is good, a Kanji version would be great.

No interest in learning Japanese, but gave it 5/5 nonetheless. I hope these kinds of educational games become more common on Kong.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I learned hiragana a few years ago, this is a great refresher. This is a lot more fun than the way I learned these characters.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
wow... really great game! but i would have loved a feature to practice some of the "words" like a i o u e but then choosing only a i o because sometimes you only get the eample:a once in the earlier game and then it could be nice to practice the others :D otherwise good game for learning 5/5

The similar font between 'n's and 'h's is driving me crazy... Could could we make those look a little different, upper case, perhaps? =P
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
This is a very interesting game. I already know hiragana mostly, so hopefully you can do a katakana one soon! A couple comments:
1. It would be nice to go to the next level without going back to the level menu...
2. I would prefer to press "enter" key after each character instead of "space-bar". If you're typing for real you would press enter anyways..space-bar seems awkward.
3. Maybe after all levels are mastered...you could do bonus levels with hiragana words?

As immature as I am, a little game helps a lot to keep me dedicated. I had been slacking on the traditional way of learning, so thank you!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Where was THIS when I was learning?
If you're interested in making one for everyday Kanji, I recommend using the symbols from http://realkanji.com/n4/. This is a list of the kanji that appears on the JLPT level 4 (intro) test. You can pair up kanji that have similar radicals into groups for comparison as well.

My main gripe with this is that I have to use my mouse to click menu buttons. I'd prefer if I could stick to the keyboard and use arrow keys to navigate the menus.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Needs better rewards and loot. I did not even get a single blue coin for anti-idling the first three levels, even though I aced them. Should give some cyborg points, too.

I think this would feel more satisfying if the laser fired when you hit the final letter of the mora, instead of having to hit return all the time. Maybe you could also get a Japanese speaker to pronounce all the characters for you and incorporate that into the game somehow, even if it's just being able to click on the characters and hear the pronunciations at the screen you see before the rounds start. Very cool to see a game like this on Kong :).
