The game starts out fun, but ends up very tedious. I'm tired of building the same 6 copper mines EVERY DAY for a week in order to have the resources to go on a single adventure. Of course I could pay (with real $) for ones that are permanent... The recent grey screen issues (can't connect to game) that last a day or two at a time are the final straw. Maybe I'll dig out Settlers 3. It was much better.

I use to play settlers way back then, what i liked back then about settlers was it always threw weather at you, either you had droughts . blizzards , etc.or the people you also had to keep happy , not to mention when you need to improve your time in building or delivering product to the stores you need roads, house would burn down needed roads to get to the firers .. When I found settlers on line i was excited knowing that back then they made a great game and now it had to be better. how wrong i was, even dissapointed. i still enjoy the game abit not as much as i use to. I wish the progarmer would replace some of the old style play of settlers back into this game. then i would be excited and even would become a challenge once again. But keep what they already have but add the old style disasters it once had.

So at the end of the festival period i fought and killed a bandit leader to free up a new zone - a successful fight, general returning with minor losses as the predictor function showed, the little red boundary markers removed etc ready to have a storehouse built. And then the zone error thing happened and I logged back in to find that the bandit leader is still there (though somehow not his troops) and my army has been shown as wiped out to a man rather than victorious. Those are troops I have spent weeks building up.. all gone. Is this anticipated as part of the errors with the update and will there be a rollback?
I had liked the game up until now, an error that wipes out progress like this is discouraging.

I agree that the tutorial is poorly paced; however, once you get past the first few levels (easy to reach lvl 5 in 1 sitting) it becomes a comfortable long term environment. There are countless people ready to walk you through every aspect of the game in chat.
There is no need to pay for the microtransaction currency- plenty (thousands) is given to players throughout the game. This game is everything I love about city builders, without the stress of pvp. I started playing about 2 years ago and have since settled into the refreshingly friendly community.
If you're wanting a laid back game about managing supply chains and helping each other thrive, look no further than the settlers online.

Cont'd: They certainly have proven over the past four years in specific that they want to run their online game site into the ground until there's no one left playing there. Complaints there fall on deaf ears, whereas Ubisoft will listen where they are able and provide the best customer service they can. So I will always give an Ubisoft game a chance and others should too. That said, there is still an active playing community who is KIND and HELPFUL which is something that you don't see too often in multiplayer games anymore. So if you're looking for a long-lasting, ongoing game, this is one you should try. If you're just looking for a shoot-em up action game. Keep going.

OK, I'm new to this game but have been playing it for a few days now. While yes, it does start off slow, it will pick up after a day or two. You just need to have some patience and give it a chance. It's an Ubisoft game which means QUALITY in games, unlike companies such as say, EA which has proven for almost two decades now that they couldn't care less about their customers and what their customers want in a game.

ths is simply a stunning game, while, yes, people can claim this is but another city-builder.. its that and so much more, its actually quite innovative if you took the time to sit down with it and give it a try, instead of judging a book by its cover.

Seems people, like myself, that have been enjoying this game for many months, are just too into the game to bother to comment. It is rewarding to those that are patient and willing to learn many levels of subtle strategy. It is fun to learn and research new ways to tweak efficiency; with many game guides, and a very helpful community (if you join a good guild). It is not a PvP game, per say; so the island you build is not harmed. In fact, this is the first game I played where people are generally extremely generous and kind. ... so it is not like other games ... or maybe not like real life ... which took some getting use to ... and was a huge relief. :)

As a big fan of the settlers in its original form, seeing this particular game just makes me wanna question my whole life choices... seriously, why Ubisoft, why?

I can't agree with all those hater comments. It is a lovely game for the patient gamer looking for long term rewarding city building and trading (be ready to plan your progress in months and years). However an inpatient gamer will find herself stuck in a potential cash grab. If you plan your steps carefully, you will find yourself on a continuous road of progress and optimization. No other game kept my attention that long.
PvP is more or less late-game content that can be fully ignored. Your precious homeland is always safe. :)

As far as paywalls go, the paywall on this one is rather small. VIP Status is $100. I'm not likely to do that myself, but I've spent 100+ on other games I enjoy. It's a good chunk of money to spend on a few pixels, but in comparison with other games offering micro transactions, that's a relatively small bite. Not seeing the issues other folks are having with the game either. I agree the age checking when you first log in is absolutely silly. Nothing to stop someone from outright lieing about it, but sure enough, age 01 was too young to play... (uhh, ya think?). Again, I don't get why they bothered, but it's not like that's incredibly invasive.
If I have an issue, it's that the game is too "busy", it's a non stop move from this objective, to the next, to the next, and so on. I'm sure that might lessen over time, but wow, there's a lot going on early on.

what are you going to need my email, phone number, social security, and credit card number too? if you cant accept my account as it is then i guess i just wont play. that is only your fault because you MAY have had a paying customer

ok so i cant use my account name? really? wow. and my age? what, do you think im 4 or something? why do you even need my age?

Don't even bother trying. this game started as a settlers follower in 2012, adding some chats, guilds (as in other online games), while the main concept of settlers was lost in the past. done on flash really limits its performance. interesting at start you are supposed to gather resourses and clean area. than you have opportunity to complete other maps (loot from like 90% is not balanced with your loses, making them candidates for trash bin). not much changed from that time.
i'ml in the game to chat with other people, who are still playing

It's not a game of passion or excitement, but a game of comforting in dreams of Fairyland and kindness of community friendship.

Begin 5 month ago.. had two events and I have found a very good guild (important) which help and explains (TL)... After a first time to have a good production flow (I like gestion) now with the wiki, others guides, and simulator I learn better about adventures with my army, next part will be pvp. A dayly connect give me a lot of diamonds for FREE and trade is interesting. Pay to win ? NO. But pay to lvl up Fast :yes.. I am patient, not necessary money, only If I want help the game. :) I like because more time passed in : better the game seems and more attractive became the opportunities... at the contrary of a lot of other game.. Thanks BB Ubi and Kong for it.

I'm sorry Blue Byte. You made great games once, but now you're just like every other game company out there.
Dungeon Keeper went exactly the same way.

like this game but dont like the soldiers system to be better you have to make more soldiers you cant upgrade them, only 5% extra damage or life orso would help me finishing of very many more camps

I wanted to like this, even though it is p2p. Thought it might be a nice little time waster. It's remarkably unclear what we're supposed to do, the "tutorial" is all over the place, and I got bored in the first 10 minutes.

Didn't even log into this game, the necessity of third party cookies to play and the comments made showed already that we can find (or expect to) better stuff in matter of online games.
