@terwerty Then you fail at remembering what you saw. Even the first three ships have two stolen from star wars. The red one is a jedi fighter and the yellow one a naboo starfighter.

Lol at those who says that undefined copied the original models of Star Wars ships for this game, i have seen all of the 6 movies and i can say the only thing that could possibly look like an Star Wars ship is the wast model, all of the other ships are original, so stop commenting crap about this game.It is great an original

overall great game but! few tips for a sequel: 1) keep at least 1 mission per sector for lvling new ships 2) change how level cap works for example lvl cap 60 means maximum lvl any ship can acheive in that sector and remaining exp redistribute to lower lvl ships(it would inspire us to buy and lvl up new ships because theres no real reason for it now) 3) some story line would be great (like in protector :D) even though I feel like theres still a lot of work on this game I have to give you 5/5 ;)

@ ciopo: optional slots have 2 choices. It does NOT depend on a specific ship, only on the shiptype. For example, every standart bomber can choose between BFB (standart option) or EMP Torpedo (which seems to be rare) for it's 4th slot. If on any level up you're not offered the skill you want, keep the slot open and level again, eventually you'll get the skill you're looking for.

please please when buying a ship make a tooltip somewhere that shows what other 2 abilities that ship can learn, it's so annoying buying another command ship for the purpose of training up the AOE defense up, only to find out that, after the pain it is leveling up new ships on new systems, it's fourth ability was not that but an useless self-only buff :(

Just finished the game with not a single loose. Which team ? APS Destructo, of course, and... Only 6 standard yellow beginning ships. Just level up the area railgun, until you can get the "energize ray" ability. Then take it. At level 50, you'll get 8*15 damage for main weapon (in area), and +24 damage (for 12 turns ! Stacks with itself !) for the energize ray.
First turn : all ship energize the guns (only useful when you have this ability at more than +6/+7), the destructo kill the artillery (only dangerous thing for your ships). Second turn : you deal 8*40 damage with each ship, in area... If something very resilient (level 40 station), a second turn of energize will do the job.

@Luckner... The Wasp's Rail Barrage has 2 advantages. 1) it can be fired more than once before needing to recharge, my lvl 42 wasp atm can fire 3. 2) energize beams ability means that the APS Destructor can fire once at a powerful level but my wasp does 3(8x29) = 626 damage in the time the destructor does one shot. (8x17 with +12 energize for all 3 shots)

Alright. Completed the game. Finishing team was a Command from the third system. A.P.S. Destructo from Plindus. A.P.S. Wasp from the system before last, A.P.S. Shadow from... Revenant or Binar, I think, and 2 normal Bombers as cannon fodder. Most missions were completed with only the Command and Destructo in <3 turns. Easily broken system. Wonderful game, good concept, needs a slight amount of work.

Just get the A.P.S. Destructo in Plindus, level only Rail Barrage. Obsoletes wasps until the very last sectors in which you can purchase an A.P.S. Wasp which is... beyond absurd in terms of big numbers. The A.P.S. Destructo still does more overall damage than it, especially paired with a Command ship. 12x(35+25) in a 3x3 square... Mmm-mm!

@Onca Energy siphon is an area effect attack around your ship. It is "okay" leveled up a bit, but I started over from that game since I didn't like that hulk hull overall compared to getting another wasp hull and a bomber.
The best way to level ships is to stick with one ability and exclusively level it up - at least that's been my experience so far. I'm worried that the map may not produce any more gate keys though....hopefully I'm wrong about that or I'll be stuck in 4 systems and would have to start a new game - but no way in hell will I do that again.

Also, can everybody stop whining about the wasp? It's actually a decent ship and shouldn't be considered obsolete. A simple mix of Energize Beams and Rail Barrage decimates even the strongest units.

Did anybody else having the problem of ships who's lvl was far above the level cap even though you managed their exp and gave all the kills to everything else? I have a bunch of ships above the level cap and a bunch of ships who are way below. For example at one point I was at a level cap 32 sector and i had a lvl 35, 36, 40, 15, 6, and 9. While power-levelling the smaller ships seems to be the best idea for some of the battles you actually need the firepower and can only upgrade one at a time. Tedious in many ways.

Also, to move after selecting an attack, click the move button in the bottom right next to the rest button. Observe your entire UI before saying there is no way. And experiment before saying the game is too difficult. Certain perks combined with certain ships yield incredible results.

Energy syphon is an AoE attack centered around your ship. It deals minimal Energy damage and drains an amount of energy listed in the skill description.
As for newly purchased ships, buy experience modifications and play a few missions with them. Bought a new ship at level 15 and now it is my highest level ship at 48. There is absolutely nothing that holds a lower level ship back from leveling. If it has a single target attack, equip a few damage boosters, especially if it's a machine gun attack; it adds that amount of damage to EVERY hit of the attack.
By the by, the two starting ships should be obsoleted at latest a couple sectors in. If you can get to the far right quadrant (Straight to the right of the starting quadrant until it ends in a dead end) there is a ship there that will make the game much more bearable for those that don't appreciate a challenge. Bombers are fantastic ships, max out Kinetic Armor perk and BFB as quickly as you can. You will decimate tons of ships.

When you have a game this unforgiving then it shouldn't autosave. I accidentally bought the wrong component for a battle and just lost 800 credits. If I ever have a use for it later I'll be able to buy better things - assuming I can get that far now.
Re-playable missions would fix some of this crap.

Okay, the inability to find level-appropriate encounters for newly-purchased ships is becoming extremely annoying. I'm downgrading my rating to 1/5 until this is fixed.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It'd be a good game, except (in combat) once an attack is selected it is impossible to back out and move. Also, can anyone explain how Energy Syphon works? It seems never able to target an enemy and completely useless.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
MOST IMPORTANT TIP: Let the enemy come to you. Further strategy: I found the trick was to focus on Rail Barrage with a Wasp (energy regen, then armor, then crit), then the Torpedo with a bomber (same as wasp), then BFB on another bomber (crit, then movement then whatever, most of the time it's going to be killing itself, too). For when you are using your hulk, the Graviton Smash is it's best attack.

This game takes a lot of time to win because you cannot make any shit on your save, or its really a game over. Please fix this problem that everyone is talking about and it'll REALLY be a great game.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
There is currently a bug where the game autosaves after each mission, after exp is handed out, but BEFORE the leveling process. If you quit playing after a mission in which you leveled up, your new level is saved, but the actual "level up" (stats increases for ship and for weapons + perk) isn't, which leaves you with a weaker ship closer to the level cap. To avoid this bug, when you want to quit playing after a mission in which you leveled up, simply start a mission and immediately retreat to save the upgraded ship.

Replaying Levels would be nice thats true so you can try different combinations. But complaining about difficulty GUYS REALLY just start to think!!! If you consequently Level on skill instead of all a bit it gets real easy I can beat each mission with just 2 ships. One advanced bomber leveled the Rail Barage there and the advanced fighter just leved the rocket, these two just crush anything^^ Have fun. Upgrades needed (None just use Exp mods
) 4/5 cause of lack of replayability and documentation

For everyone complaining about tooltips: When you are looking at an enemy ship, the numbers mirror your own ship's defenses which are - by golly - displayed in the upper right with the rest of your ship information... As for difficulty, it's not supposed to be easy unless you figure a way around it. The reason there are so many perks is so you can find different ways to play and work your way through the missions. I restarted because I messed up along the way and couldn't progress the very first time I played it, but every game should have a learning curve, otherwise not enough thought was put into it.
Most of all, remember that this is a tactics game of sorts, it requires thought and forplanning. Have at it folks.

I dunno. I thought I was stuck, but simply sticking to my guns has got me a lot farther than normal. The trick is to carefully manage your exp and don't split up your ships' focus on abilities; your first Wasp should only bother with Rail Barrage, and your Hulk does massive damage with SR Missiles, for instance. Energy regen is amazing, but you need to get energy and plasma armor eventually or your ships will crumple in turn one. Stick +exp items on level 1 ships and keep them around in missions that are easy or allow an overabundance of ships, and, whenever feasible, let them lasthit enemies. It's not AS hard as everyone claims, although it's pretty friggin' hard.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
wasp is impossible to use because he dies in the first 3 turns and you have to have her in the middle. if you use her in the front lines your screwed no matter what you do.

flagged for blatantly ripping of star wars and batlestar galactica designs. dude, even though you made them look good they aren't yours. I really expected a more original, better quality game from you
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
need to be able to replay levels.....otherwise there is no way to level ships at level one, since they cannot gain experience because they get taken out in 2 hits, even in sector 2
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the game in general is a great idea however because lvling new shipse is a pain in the arse i have had to put new ships in dificult spots to level them a few replayable lvls would not hurt also the level cap idea is intersting but if ur gona do that make it so you cant send out the ships above that level to fight it would work youd just ned a couple extra replay lvls at the beginning. the point defence atack is screwy at the borders ur get limited to + at corners you only have 2 shots then please fix
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Difficulty curve needs to be made into a more straight line, right now it looks like the stock market, and like many others have said, you cant figure out youve messed up until its too late, some missions need you to be allowed more ships, some ships roles need to be more defined, there needs to be a max on the amount of artillery the rebels are allowed each round, six level 20 artilleries? really?
