I'd like to be able to know how many times i've upgraded each skill already - esp considering how careful one must be when upgrading :)

Only train one weapon on any ship you acquire.
Go to Plindus and get the APS Wasp, train rail barrage.
Get APS Phantom from Twig's Star, buy nothing except the most advanced critical from shops, 5% or more at best, save, save, save
Always use the maximum number of ships, You'll hit 50th level regardless by the end.

After getting into the game a little I realised that my ships sometimes even lose some of their their perks! When I looked at my lvevel 13 Wasp I could only see the Energy-Pros Perk maxed out and no sign of the recently aquired Combat-Drills. Together with all those other bugs the game is unenjoyable for me at the moment. I hope this changes soon as I love the game concept and I'm a fool for any in-depth strategy space game.

the fact, that you can send in a varying number of ships in each battle, gives the game a interesting strategic twist.
please, everybody that found it too hard, give it an other try, it is worth it!
here are some tips:
+only buy new ships if you feel you will soon need them.
+you will encounter many battles where you can send in only 4,3,2 ships. that means you will need a mixed fleet of 4-6 higher level champions and some mid level support.
+that also makes levelling of new ships easy. if your core team is strong enough, you will find 1 or 2 empty slots to send in newbies, nearly in every battle. (give them some learning enhancement.)
+ damage dealers should concentrate on one weapon each. don`t worry to much about damage types.
+ simple weapons for the start. more powerfull (and energy consuming) ones for the second generation.

bug: one can switch back and forth between an attack and "move" and can gain an extra movement point that way (re-roll the dice each time...)

@ ciopo: optional slots have 2 choices. It does NOT depend on a specific ship, only on the shiptype. For example, every standart bomber can choose between BFB (standart option) or EMP Torpedo (which seems to be rare) for it's 4th slot. If on any level up you're not offered the skill you want, keep the slot open and level again, eventually you'll get the skill you're looking for.

please please when buying a ship make a tooltip somewhere that shows what other 2 abilities that ship can learn, it's so annoying buying another command ship for the purpose of training up the AOE defense up, only to find out that, after the pain it is leveling up new ships on new systems, it's fourth ability was not that but an useless self-only buff :(

Just finished the game with not a single loose. Which team ? APS Destructo, of course, and... Only 6 standard yellow beginning ships. Just level up the area railgun, until you can get the "energize ray" ability. Then take it. At level 50, you'll get 8*15 damage for main weapon (in area), and +24 damage (for 12 turns ! Stacks with itself !) for the energize ray.
First turn : all ship energize the guns (only useful when you have this ability at more than +6/+7), the destructo kill the artillery (only dangerous thing for your ships). Second turn : you deal 8*40 damage with each ship, in area... If something very resilient (level 40 station), a second turn of energize will do the job.

Just get the A.P.S. Destructo in Plindus, level only Rail Barrage. Obsoletes wasps until the very last sectors in which you can purchase an A.P.S. Wasp which is... beyond absurd in terms of big numbers. The A.P.S. Destructo still does more overall damage than it, especially paired with a Command ship. 12x(35+25) in a 3x3 square... Mmm-mm!

@Onca Energy siphon is an area effect attack around your ship. It is "okay" leveled up a bit, but I started over from that game since I didn't like that hulk hull overall compared to getting another wasp hull and a bomber.
The best way to level ships is to stick with one ability and exclusively level it up - at least that's been my experience so far. I'm worried that the map may not produce any more gate keys though....hopefully I'm wrong about that or I'll be stuck in 4 systems and would have to start a new game - but no way in hell will I do that again.

Okay, the inability to find level-appropriate encounters for newly-purchased ships is becoming extremely annoying. I'm downgrading my rating to 1/5 until this is fixed.

This game takes a lot of time to win because you cannot make any shit on your save, or its really a game over. Please fix this problem that everyone is talking about and it'll REALLY be a great game.

I would love some kind of system of resetting all the upgrades, both perks and weapons, on my ships. I've just spent quite some time experimenting on the builds and now I have to restart the game because there's no way to reset my ships, or level up newer ships.
Also, I seem to be unable to unlock some systems, is this intentional? I'm on the Jorellia system with no other fights left in the other systems and I still have 6 systems locked.

Another thing that should be done, all the abilities/ skills of the ships should be seen right of the bat, not just after the ship gains some levels

Good concept, but a little too easy, and need a little more variety of ships. for now 4/5...but has the potential for better than 5/5 ^_^

I like this game, I really do, but it's ridiculous after some time how hard the game gets, with enemies that are both more durable and stronger than your ships.

Bug: had the healer I mentioned before, a couple of corroded pirate bruisers as enemies. They killed the healer, but then the pirate bruiser that killed it died (due to corrosion). The "Defeat!" screen flashed, then went away, and the game locked up.

Great game, I loved the protector series but this is completely different. An easy 5/5. There is still room for improvement though, a little info on what the icons mean would help. Actually more info all round would be good, I mean why does the fourth weapon option change sometimes? How far can an enemy move and what are the ranges of their weapons? Also, I thought the ships in the shipyard were my own because of the word 'sell' right next to them. A few people are suggesting the bomber bfg is over powered.

Just finished the game with a highly optimated but still not flawless strategy. They difficulty is not too high; quite the opposite, it's too low sometimes so that you can get away too long with awful play and wrong strategic decisions. As a result the optimal strategy consists of not buying items except for XP boosts and the most useful armor shield, since the problem when commanding a well-balanced fleet lies not in beating the enemies, but just in leveling the right ships in the right zones at the right time. So there are some flaws in the game design, but nonetheless i give it 5/5 for the challenging experience.

finally, undefined managed to integrate separate music and sound mute buttons. hallelujah.
ok, maps with only 9x9 are very small, not much area to maneuver. and i don't see any information about the enemies weapon range. the aspects reduces tactical options somehow making it a bit of a guessing game. still, very interesting... 4/5

for all those thinking that the ships look like somthing off of star wars your probaily right but i think george lucas is way to rich to be worrieing about a small flash game ,, who cares

i;m curious about those complaining about the "copyrighting" have you paid for anything in this game? no? then there is no copyrighte abuse. tyvm

I'm really disappointed because this game could have a lot of potentiality but the realisation is pissing me off!!! how can you advance in level with new ships?????
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I was fairly disappointed, I wasn't really bothered by your ships seeming like star wars ships but there were fairly little things such as the map being too small, the battles not seeming very dynamic. In all honesty I'd rather control little knights rather than ships. It kept me fairly entertained but I screwed myself then had to restart. I encourage your concept of strategy games like this but I would recommend you take land characters, they could be anything, post apocalyptic mechas or even just warriors. Not to mention you could create better obstacles than just, two or three asteroids scattered around. I was never really constrained by asteroids. Best wishes ~Fyeth

looked promising but got hard too fast, and without the option to grind i quickly got stuck, unable to win anything so unable to progress. fail.
