Speed and range are everything. The Reaver is awesome (especially with kills added as damage), I also like the archer (to kill flying things with massive damage) and augmentor.

zomg, would everyone shut up about selling units? some defense games let you sell units, others make you think a little harder. live with it!

I really wish all the units within range would fire at once, or alternate. If I set units such that a monster comes in range of more than one simultaneously, there is some preset order of who fires first. More often than not, that means only one unit fires and gains experience, while the other just sits there. We should be able to order units to stand down, or else the units with less experience should get priority in firing.

hey i found mispelling in protoctopedia on the first page it says "expertly wroted & finely detailed" wroted is not a word.

I agree with the fellows below. A sell option would be nice, especially on levels with 50% enemies weak to fire, but the boss absorbs it.

I completed all the red storyline quests, but I haven't got the badge ;/
last red quest was the spiral looking one with 25 rounds?

The original Protector is what first drew me to Kongregate. The blend of strategy, tower defense, story, and style is something special and unique. Protector IV brings in so many great ideas it's almost overwhelming at first, but each aspect works really well together to bring a new and exciting style of gameplay. Each piece of the greater whole has been fine-tuned to build a cohesive game. The factions and various unit types, hero setup, marketing, and even the clever bits like "snakes on a plain" and the unit names make for a truly great game experience, well done!

@ Rannen the old maps with the new units and hero ststem require them yo be looked at an entirely different way and i love it and the devs had a huge job on their hands just getting it this good

i dont like the lv cap on units, is there a way to bypass or get around that? it'd be nice to have a fully upgraded unit/units on the field rather than one with only 8 skills learned, can fix that or is there somethin im missing to get all their skills learned, like the Reavers, you can only use 8 upgrades before says "Na/Cap"

Bobthecow, if you're really stuck on a level, try buying the Enchanted Nut from the Council Court store and using it before you try again. That gives you an extra 10 lives, which is often enough to get you past a tricky level.

@bobthecow: it's not impossible. I'm probably only 1/3 of the way done with the game and I beat it. It's just one of the few boards where you can't be a one-trick pony.

I don't understand why, when I win a red storyline quest, it isn't counting toward my badge. I've won a slew of them, but of course they change to green when you beat them so I don't even know how you'd know after the fact. Just curious!

Kaowlzu to get protectomons faster replay storyline quests it took me only 15mins to get them all on The Great Hydra quest

I like the game, and have enjoyed playing it, but it needs a better inventory system for the items. I don't have a way to compare all the items I have to see which are the best for my heroes. Some sort of summary screen of all the items owned, their powers, and values would be VERY helpful. Also, I have lost my redline quests, don't have a new one to complete. How do I get them back?

Consecrate does extra damage if it's their strength, right? So if the enemy's Strength is Physical, and you are using a Physical Paladin, for example, then he'll do less damage to the enemy because of the Strength, but will add extra damage to that based on Consecration. It essentially attempts to bypass the fact that the enemy is resistant to that damage.

i only counted doing 20 red storyline quests and i got the achievement that said complete all 22 red storyline quests. Glich or not, either way i like it.

I LOVE the new map&hero system, but the blatant reuse of old battle maps (even within Protector IV itself, the battle map for the storyline quest for the Guild of HG is the same as a main quest battle map later on) strikes me as rather lazy on the part of the devs.
