Also, is it possible to allocate click-and-drag for the map to the right mouse button? About half of the time, I ended up clicking one of my armies and had to cancel the movement.

That said, I did manage to beat all 6 monthly maps with all 6 nations in each one. Map 8778 as Greenland is a bear; Redosia and Turqoistan tend to take out the other three nations before I can field a decent army.

There are also some frustrating pathfinding issues. My forces often seem to ignore roads when calculating the quickest path that isn't a straight line, instead climbing over mountains or struggling through forests when an adjacent road tile would have been much faster. Also, units apparently are forced to stop when their movement would take them next to an enemy unit two tiles in a row, but the only way to make a roundabout route is to use an extra movement turn.

I'm going to disagree with kainic; morale is poorly implemented. I've had scenarios where I've had the final two enemies against the ropes, took out the capital of one, then the other grabs a half dozen tiles and their morale jumps from 10% to 40%, quadrupling their combat power, and suddenly those I'm dealing with 2 or 3 stacks of 2000 combat power units tearing through my empire, devastating my morale and further boosting their own. This combined with the total unit cap and grave penalties (but no individual stack cap) makes cautious play untenable.

morale isn't a big deal, I just think most people aren't use to it and don't realize you need to anticipate the enemy's moves and not overextend yourself
however I think aussie has a point, this is such a good game, I think it has a lot of potential use for other gameplay styles, like instead of morale you could have "weapons and training quality" or something like that, when you capture a factory it begins increasing the quality of your weapons depending on the size of your army, like how the soviet union didn't have as much industry per soldier as germany in ww2, the real time aspect of this is awesome, I think that this can be used to improve the order systemt, maybe when you capture a city you get more communications and clerks and stuff, so instead of 1 order every 15 seconds, you get 1 order every 10 seconds, something like that would make for an interesting game
I hope hex empire becomes very popular and becomes "a thing" like flappy bird

The only significant thing I saw wrong with this game, is the morale; and this absolutely kills the game experience for me. To have a perfectly satisfactory empire, and then to have morale plummet to 20% just because a little army took back some relatively meaningless farmland (which I had conquered), and as a result lose whilst at a 4 to 1 army advantage is just plain stupid. You claim this is realistic? No it's not.
The first HE had the morale effects reasonable. This does not. I simply can't see the point of playing with such a silly game destroying attribute. Sorry, but it kills an otherwise perfect game.

It most certainly doesn't need more moves per turn. A limited number of moves means you need to think about what you're doing.

But still, needs more moves as the games progresses, I got locked in a "cold war" once. Each one in an island, sending endless hellstacks to eachother and never even reaching his cap
I ended up grouping 4 hellstacks together near his cap and blitz it. turn ~

This game has all of the things that made the original great: nice music, consistent movement and armybuinding, the capacity to easily see the entire playfield at once, and a sensible set of rules about non-aggression pacts. Oh, no, wait, it has none of those things. It's amazing when a developer makes a hit game, and then - with the entire playerbase telling them what few things they can do to improve it - makes the two games these people have. Sad.

i love the music in between turns... and also thanks for this, i have been waiting and now all we need is achievements :D

4 orders are an improvement, thought it still feels a bit constraining. Why not let the player choose? Have an option for 3,4,8 or whatever amount of orders the player wants.

Mama said i kick risk in its junk! fantastic game, i love the humor the stile and the maps the music the game play and that intro! and you know what it must really suck if your not playing this game right now. Turquostan ftw!

I loved Hex Empire! My computer doesn't support Unity, so I can't play this one :( Unfortunately, that's going to affect your rating.

It lacks the simplicity of HE 1, that I still play regularly. As a complex strategy game I miss more in-depth options available to me for replay value. (different/more diplomacy? different combat/movement values of ships, tanks, etc?)

"we strongly believe that one day all of the people in the world will live together in peace and harmony as slaves to a great nation" >_> wait what?

Love the game thus far, but was only able to complete 1 game before it consumed my entire system resources. I killed the "plugin-container.exe" for firefox in my processes list, and my RAM usage under the Performance tab went for 3.8 GB to 1.5 GB. This game was the only tab open.
I can't wait for the final release! Until then, there's some series memory leakage going on. My Ivy Bridge Core-i7 may be running a little light with 4 GB or RAM, but I've never had a browser-based game push it so hard. Despite that fact, there's no denying this game is a great offspring to the original!

Because several people asked to increase number of orders, we increased them to 4, 5 seemed to chaotic. Let us know if you like it better.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
5/5 from me. As previously discussed it will be more strategic when you increase the number of orders per turn, but a great game and graphics! A great progression in the series.

Oh well even though there is no map editor for the free version at least I know that there will be new maps in time. The game visually looks way better than the original hex empire and also I like how the environment has a greater roll in this game.Though the only thing I wish was in this game is a campaign. You know, something with a story that you can just play through. I would like to know why all these kingdoms hate each other so much. But that's pretty much it and overall it's a pretty good game.

Anyway to turn down the quality, or did I miss it? Also enjoyable to see song lyrics of happy songs inbetween screens.

I don't even need to play the game to instantly give it a rating of 5 stars.
Huge fan of the Hex Empire series since the very beggining. I was following the updates but recently I had forgotten about it. So it's amazing to finally see a playable version of this!
Hurrah!
