Tactics for sub 50min: (1) build all things very close to storehouse (2) mass gather food when need it for building (3) first storehouse next to spring to right--put gather all assigned to that storehouse (4) berry bushes > farms -- about eight of them will cover food costs (5) only need one of each production building (6) saturate mine early on
Even when a gatherer is set to Food, if there isn't any to pick up they will still gather other resources. When more food appears they will gather that first.

build some berry bushes around your production area, and build left and right side of town berry bushes. This way most people will eat berrys - which dont need any work to be produced, so very effective.

great game and I agree, it ends too soon. Some feedback: 1. in worker overview (top left) you could show free houses too. 2. Would be nice if I could forbid to take food from a specific warehouse (there was ton of food lying on the ground right next to it, I needed the food to build stuff). 3. some infos about the stats of my trolls would be great. How they increase stats? maybe one more page in tutorial?

Possible to soft lock yourself by destroying your mills and not having a forge up to create more metal to build a mill.
The time is based on "game time" rather than real time. If you speed up the game your time will move 3x faster as well! So people who never speed up the game and people who do will have equal "Time to Castle," if they do everything else the same. Thanks for playing!
Thanks for the feedback! Something to consider for the future. You CAN lose if all the workers starve and you don't have enough food to make more. But this game was designed to be more of a relaxing game, so that doesn't happen easily.
Yep! If you select a gatherer there's a button under the job buttons that will initially say "All." If you click it you can cycle through the different resources.

Is there any starvation effects? I mean i see messages "A worker can't find food to eat" and it pops up "Hungry" over the individual workers, but are they working slower or something? They don't seem to die from starvation.

There are 3 berries on the ground, the food collector collets 3 brings them to the warehouse and eats them! Well... That's a way to do it.

These ratings on kongregate are so brutal! Usually a 3*+ game is really good. I never understand why are there so many games rated under 4*, while it's totally working and fun...

xD it works fine, i managed to build four castles in no time, the secret is have enough farms and hunters to not starve.

Counter-intuitively, you get a better wood production rate from 2 wood gatherers amongst a bunch of trees near a storehouse than from 2 free lumberjacks.

I placed a stock house in the middle of the stone area, which is really far from any of my stock houses. And now I watche them run 3/4 of the way get hungry and run back. Hilarious :D

When you send someone to do something and they get hungry, they left, eat, than do other stuff instead of what you sent them to do. They should return after eating. ;)

Would be nice if you had to have warriors to defend against enemies. I personally think that'd make a nice addition- having to defend against attackers.
Hey, thanks for playing and for the suggestion! That's a big feature to add so that would be for version 2 if I decide to make one. And I might just do that, in the future.

Loving the game so far. Any chance of further developing the tech tree, perhaps a blacksmith building to refine metal into steel and use it to upgrade other buildings' performance or capacity (my long winded way of asking a way to upgrade the huts to support more than just 1 troll). Pretty please?
That would certainly make things more convenient! Unfortunately, because of how the code and UI are set up it would take a lot of work to upgrade the capacity. But It's awesome that you enjoyed it enough to want more! Appreciate the comment.

For large populations make sure to build farms, which require waters which means at least a few wells, and having stockhouses nearby can probably help a bit. Built castle with 20+ pop with 4 farms, originally setup around springs 1 each side, and 999 food in storage.

Nice little gem of a game. One request, can the castle give a boost in production or some other bonus for building it?

It would run a lot smoother if assistants assigned to farms/forges/etc would prioritize getting material from the stockhouses and town center rather than randomly choosing to run half the map away for picking up ressources.
I think this semi-random assignment in what item to hunt down is also what has created the hunger issues where the whole town suddenly dies off. I find having a few people set to just collect food off the ground mitigates that particular issue though...
Thanks for the feedback! Currently, when a worker goes looking for a resource, they go for the closest source whether it's on the ground (and not already targeted by another worker) or in a stockhouse. But there is no maximum distance, and they don't re-target if a closer source becomes available on the way. It certainly isn't always the most efficient way! I'll have to think about if there's a worthwhile solution. Thanks for playing!

awesome concept! nice graphics! i want MORE!! more content maybe army, and attacking, more buildings, more things to satisfy! Cool Game!

Maybe you should prefer a project or something else.
Anyway, I didn't see someone automatically helping me hoard wood.
They will only take quantitative woods for the building.
Even if there are more, it will be placed in the factory.
a little trouble in construction those building that need woods.
After all, other materials have places that indicate collectors’ collections.

Good Game! I like the fact that you can build smaller 'settlements' when you unlock the Storehouse, sense the storehouses share the same storage, you can build small farming towns or wood cutting towns(Don't need one for stone cause we got mines). It makes the game easier to accomplish and more fun because you need to find the right area's for these 'smaller towns'. Overall I rate this game 9/10!
Laborers should always prioritize construction unless they have a specific job (working a building or gathering), in which case they won't do construction at all. If a building needs wood they will get it from the ground as well as from the stockpile, especially if the sticks are closer. Hopefully this helps!

Everything is renewable...except stone.
I guess my first attempt just didn't generate enough stone to create a castle. I even went and demolished everything I could to try and get just enough extra stone but ultimately it was still quite a bit short.
Kinda disappointing.

The ability to tell AI to roam a specific area (only leaving for food ro when told to leave that area) they will exploit any viable job-related resources in the area. Eventually an endless spawning world would be nice. A way to make weapons/armor and invade dungeons with an army of AI.

I think there could be additional kinds of biomes that have different resources, also you could have things liek Fire Trolls and Water Trolls, all to make it different

Nice game, a solid 4/5 it's missing that one extra point because of the stupid AI going halfway across the map to get a tree when there's one right next to them, also it lacks replayability, maybe a harder mode for second playthrough? this could be done as simply as making all resources drop half as much and buildings work half as fast, but otherwise a nice fun little diversion :)

i've tried a few different set ups for my town now but the same thing happens every time i get to population of 8 or so trolls. they start starving to death. doesn't matter how many trolls are set to gather food, they'll go hang around a berry bush with 3 or 4 of their buddies or wander about aimlessly, meanwhile dozens of rabbit carcasses go to waste in the nearby forest. perhaps hunters should also carry back their kills? or gatherers can prioritize better sources of food or cover more ground or something? they also seem to get hungry really often, like way too often. other than a few AI tweaks i think this is a really fun game so far. hope you keep updating!
I'm sorry they're getting stuck like that. I've fixed a couple bugs that may help. A farm will help a lot around that point! The hunters alone will only take you so far.
