warm0nger - I would show it if you switched right now. If you care only about the full fight countdown, you can just wait a few seconds.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've got a request: could you please add the calculated losses to the tooltip of the up & down arrow? Based on the assumption that you switch at the with a full fight countdown.
Yeah I'm going to do this, I'm just not sure if it should be at full cooldown or if you switched immediately like drachefly said. Basing it on full cooldown would be more useful, but it could be a bit confusing to new players when they check the losses after increasing/decreasing and they're significantly different than what the tooltip said.

I have a suggestion for undead battle mechanics... can we have an option similar to ogres? "Battle if tombs will replenish losses"
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
agree with eavc, only reason i didnt say it myself - i assume its obvious problem. the only way i would be okay with it, if dev can disable certain ppl from hiscores on demand. but that wouldnt prevent someone from adding 5% every day-few hours to sneak under radar. imo it would create more problems than fix and it would cost alot of time and headache which could be spent more productively.

Any chance of an export or cloud save feature? I'd like to know my save is safe, and also play from multiple locations
Kongregate doesn't provide its own save system, so the best I could do for now would be a copy-and-paste save feature, not sure if that would help or not.

Hey Veterum, not rushing you but you got an ETA for us on the Southerner achievements patch? Just havn't heard any news in a while. Maybe give us a preview/hint as to some of the new abilities to hold us off? :P Oh: and what are the odds that we could get an Undead achievement similar to the dragon's "Guard" ability for their pyramids?
Sorry for the long delay! It will be done tomorrow for sure! It will have a bunch of rewards for the southerners as well as 1 or 2 for each of the other races, and the next 3 resource achievements.

Then... why couldn't I pick, say, OSHA, when I had 12 unspent points left? Was the mouse-sensitive area really small or something?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@drachefly 1 achievement point for one perk, I personally thought that was pretty obvious. some races have groups of perks, which have to be bought in order, but there's no increase in price. I think, besides adding more and adding some minor instructions, the achievement system is pretty much perfect the way it is. and, unless you have 60+ achievement points (which as of now no one does) the plus buttons for the battle timer will disapear, as will any other plus buttons that may be there
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Eh, I kind of agree that it could use some tweaking. I still have no idea how expensive most of them are, and that would really change when I cut reset.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Skycharger001 it honestly shouldn't be that hard to figure out "oh, I'm out of achievement points, that's why I can't buy this." I'm not sure why it seems to be confusing for you. If it's confusing due to other games, then from personal experience not only have I never seen a game like this, but the use of achievements to buy upgrades in and of itself I've never seen used before. I believe there should be some instruction or tool-tip to let people know what achievement points do, and how they work, but I believe the visual indications are fine the way they are, especially if you dissociate the game from other games in it's genre
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
the fact that the unbought singular rewards didn't change colors When I used up my achievement-points on the timers it led to me incorrectly conclude that they were inactive. (most games I've played with a similar reward/upgrade system gray the rewards/upgrades out when purchasing power is zero/below minimum)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Invisible? How do you give people incentive to reach their requirements then? You need them to know of their existence for that. (at least show an X-rewards-locked count)
The only rewards that aren't visible are ones that affect races that you haven't unlocked yet. e.g. If you haven't unlocked the undead, then you won't see 'Unholy Alliance'.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@skycharger Maybe you dont have enough achievement points. And you need to click the new game button to be able to use the point.
I agree that it needs to be renamed to reset game to make it clear.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
That doesn't tell me why some rewards (like the OSHA one) refuse to become available/selectable when starting a new game.
Maybe I didn't understand your problem. Did you have achievement points available, but clicking on a reward in red (in the screen after starting a new game, not the one you get to through the achievements screen) didn't do anything? Someone else had that issue a while ago, but I was never able to reproduce it or find a potential cause.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Actually, I had a curiosity question. Why are undead the only faction who's achievements are locked to battle rewards? All the others can produce their water or mud or wood normally, but undead need both wood and stone, neither of which can be gotten except through battle. Not complaining, just curious as to the reasoning. Is it because they are meant to be a more "Aggressive" faction thematically?
It's just the first three resources for each race. I will add more resource achievements soon. Also, the undead can get both wood and stone through the caravan :).
There are two human buildings that you can only get through achievement rewards, but yeah you've unlocked everything you can without restarting. Until the next race comes out! :D

how does awe from the orc banner produce renown? I am constantly switching between 2 and 3 per banner at 1 banner. The log10 of my renown is 5.8 and ln is 13

Hey Veterum, would it be possible to get a "Stats" page detailing what bonuses you get from where? I'm having trouble testing if mummy's passive is working because of how slowly they produce. I've let them sit on the same enemy from 20k~ mummies to 54k~ mummies and the reward hasn't changed at all, started 105 gold and still at 105 gold. My math's not great, but if a million grants a doubled (+100%) bonus to battle rewards, shouldn't that have gone up to 106 by now?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
@Jakkillr you're pretty much done lol. there are a few more buildings for humans, but some of them need achievement points anyways
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Awesome game, but I think it needs hints on what to do next, I'm stuck at pyramids, mirrors, nests, dragons, cathedrals as my last unlocks.
You have to start a new game to get achievement rewards, which resets all your buildings and resources. Each reward costs 1 achievement point. Rewards that have multiple numbers cost 1 point per number, and you have to get them in order. Reducing the fight cooldown costs 1 point per second. I have to rearrange the achievements screen for the next achievement update (which will hopefully be out in a couple days) so I'll put some more info about getting rewards in there.

Hi Veterum, Loving the game so far. I would like to donate some money to encourage you to keep going. Got any way to do that?
That's very generous of you! Unfortunately Kongregate discontinued its own donation option. I suppose I could set up a paypal account for taking donations, if you really want to. Or maybe on patreon. To be honest I never expected anyone would want to donate :P.

I think the tooltips are perfectly fine. I did expect you to have the achievement perks for Southerners in this update, any idea when that'll be done?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Question for everyone: You may notice that some of the tooltips now take two lines, e.g. ships' 'Import Mercenaries'. Is that annoying? One of the most common complaints I get is that it's hard to tell how exactly some buildings/battle mechanics work, so I thought making room for multi-line tooltips would be a start. Do you think this is the right way to go about it? If so, which mechanics need better explanations in the tooltip? If not, what should I do to make things more transparent?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Oh awesome! I've been looking forward to that and the achievements. Don't rush it though! I am sure we'd all rather you take your time if that's what it takes, you've not steered us wrong yet!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Got an update for us on this? No rush btw, you are doing great work with ballancing and bug fixes. More just curious and enjoy keeping up to date on your progress if that makes sense. Love your new ability on the ports, too. Gives an option for when you just don't want that many ships active.
"DEVELOPER RESPONSE FROM VETERUM
This is intentional, to give everyone a 'new player' experience with the new race. 10-20 conclaves set to armageddon would easily wipe out all the low level enemies. I will enable armageddon with them in a week or so, as well as caravans. Dead Wagons already work with the southerners."
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
It seems like if I click "attack enemy" when the button is green, I don't get the reward (but the timer resets anyway)
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I have a screenshot, not really sure how to send/post it, but the numbers were 2750 losses, 3871 orcs, 5033 ogres, 8484 champions, 55 hydras, 1 shrine set to bloodlust. the number isn't even close to actual losses, as after several seconds I still hadn't beaten my current enemy
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've never really needed to use bloodlust, but I noticed now that when it's used, the expected losses counter displays a different number than what's actually needed
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I forgot how hard it is to start fresh sometimes, wow...things I haven't thought about since restarting my first time are severely slowing my progress (but that's what achievement perks are for, after all). on that note, perhaps some form of speed run would be a good idea? a mode where you're completely on your own, and your goal is to "complete" a race in as little time as possible by being as efficient as possible. completion would be at least one of every building and defeating the highest tier enemy. you could have an achievement perk(or just a regular function) that's based on how fast you complete said challenge for each race
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Cancel that, I figured it out. I always keep 2 games going at all times and since I was keeping the chat open on another game, it wasn't updating the score. Fixed now and lesson learned lol.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
I've closed the browser, and restarted the computer itself. Still not updating my scores... Is there anything else I can try?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
At first it looked like an "Oh no, another shitty idle game!", But I was pleasantly surprised how much depth it has as you progress, and you get more and more content just when you think you've seen it all. Really well designed interesting mechanics. Truly a hidden gem in the idle genre.
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
well, I just reset my settings, and turns out that also completely erases the game...fun...well, while I spend the next couple of days working on rebuilding those numbers, maybe it would be a good idea to have an online saving system?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Could you make it possible to disable Ports so idiots like me who mindlessly buy too many can still use Ships without losing massive resources?
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
So a million mummies equal 1% battle reward bonus? That's.. uh. Well frankly that's kind of crap, especially since it's "Number of combats" based rather then time based. I mean don't get me wrong I love the idea, but maybe the reward should be higher? Or maybe have more ways (like another building?) to gain mummies quicker? Great idea though, just feels... well underpowered at the moment. I don't see how you'd get more then 1% per week of normal play, if even that, currently. Although if it stacks multiplicatively with catacombs I can see how that would eventually be really powerful. Maybe have mummies reproduce like Hydras do, automatically per battle, so you can have the pyramids busy doing something else?
