I thought about it - I wanted it - but then I got fixated on the idea that your ship should look 'different' when you upgrade the armor, I didn't have the time to design multiple ship sprites so I dropped the whole idea....maybe I shouldn't have, but I'll definitely get it into the threequel.

great game good graphics (for a retro Sci-Fi) great upgrades (needs to be a bit cheaper and more even) and great special
thanks for the vote of confidence... all the artwork is entirely procedural and I had to write custom software to help me generate it... it's not the normal way to make gfx for a game like this and I was a bit worried about the results so I'm really pleased you liked it!

Great remake of a classic style arcade game PLUS upgrades. Someone needs to burn this onto a ROM chip and turn this into a stand up arcade game. 5/5 :^)

sometimes i'm trying to avoid the bunch of reward a ennemy just dropped because i think its some kind of weird bullet or ship >.<
nice game altough it gets tooooo confusing

great game, gave it 5 stars cos its old school kick a**...the only con is that the coins look like damn projectiles,or maybe I am just too stoned!

"level two: I'm only using one hand"? o.O
The game would be better if there were upgrades to increase the ship's defenses, ie. shield, body armor, etc.
level 2 - I'm aware of the innuendo, although it wasn't intentional at first...I left it in 'cuz what the hell, all the level names are supposed to be a bit of a joke anyway.
I would have liked to include armor upgrades and I might include them in a threequel - I didn't this time around 'cuz I'd like the ship gfx to change to reflect the new armor level and I couldn't find the time to design multiple ship sprites.

no need to have opponents that look realy good, coz thanks to the number of bullets I dont have time to look at them anyway ;)

I think it's a great retro type shooter, granted the size should be bigger to avoid the billions of shots fired at you...

I can't even see the enemy bullets half of the time because there is just too much going on. Between the different types of rewards and my bullets, I end up just swerving around hoping to miss stuff.

AHA! and I know the reference from the last level! It's from the book that blade runner was based on, isn't it? That's funny, I was just reading an article about that...

I like it. Being able to kind of 'throw' your repulsor at things is kind of cool. Of course I liked the original as well. One thing I would like to know though; what does the verb 'shmup' mean? It sounds just a tad dirty if you ask me. Dirty in a good way though.

Production values were great. The smoke on missiles and their explosions was very well done. The bullet hell was too dense and hard to see through. All the blur effects along with dead enemies blurring offscreen toward the bottom made the game screen just a mass of junk - which is unfortunate since the art and effects I could see were excellent. Advice: make the game field bigger, all enemies and the player ship smaller, and for cripes' sake knock it off with all the blur.
I agree I did probably go a little over the top with blur etc. I got over excited about the code I'd written and wanted to show it off as much as possible. When I get around to doing the threequel I'll tone it down a bit....and yeah a larger screen would be nice - I only kept it so small to minimise lag - next time it'll be bigger.

As I said in my first post about this game it is what top down space shooters should be.Its a perfect game for me and I only have one grumble and thats there is not enough levels,Around 50 would be good and you so gotta have some badges for this one
50 levels - you're a man after my own heart - I would _really_ like to do a shooter with that many levels, but you now it took a lot out of me just doing 13, and I don't think I did all of them 'perfectly' as it is.

The game is beautiful, but there are a couple of fatal flaws in the graphics and gameplay around the beauty...
Getting an achievement, trophy, or bonus of any kind can kill you outright because you can no longer see your ship, any upgrades around you, where the enemies are (if you could see them between blur effects and explosion blur effects in the first place) and enemy bullets. Create a separate space for these bonuses and remove blur, please. Beyond that... reliance on some levels for a shield at an appropriate time just feels wrong, as does the power of the shield in general. Dying should grant 1-2 seconds of invulnerability (I managed to lose 8 lives in 2 seconds the one time I lost).

Even with both music and sound disabled, there are still shooting noises and noises of ships being hit. Not sure the the mute in the game is working as expected...

Boy are the last few levels shield dependent. I had to have a shield up most of the time to survive in all of those explosions and try to hide and stay still for the times where I didn't. I really didn't have too much trouble with any of the bosses, not even losing a life to most of them, except for the last boss which took out at least 5 of my lives. It was fun overall though, and had fun playing through it.

Dunno what's happening really, but I Like it :D
Though dodging is impossible 'cause you have no idea what's coins or what's bullets, IF you se anything at all :P

I think it would helps the visibility better if you get rid of that blur shadow effect that happen when you kill something because all I see is blur all over the place when I kill a bunch of enemy on screen.

I'd suggest not allowing replaying of levels for more money. It makes to too easy to get serious upgrades too early in the game.

It has a classic arcade feel combined with just enough upgrades to make progression exciting. Very nice little shooter here.

"ripoff of frantic" - yeah, ok, frantic is apparently the original shooting game, and galaga, space invaders, and all those others are just copying off of it.
GET OVER IT PEOPLE!!! all originality has drained from the world! I'm sick and tired of people posting comments of "this game is a ripoff of ___" well, why don't YOU spend YOUR time making an awesome game, and then read those comments.
good day to you.

Great game, but two complaints:
1. Give me a better visibility for my ship, I can't dodge all the bullets in this item/bullets/enemies/explosion rain.
2. When I mute the sound, I want every sound muted. But there are still some sound effects lefts that play even if muted the sound (mute music works, though).
Otherwise, good game. 4/5
yeah I was aware of the 'low visiblity' problem when there's lots of smoke and explosions firing off - I tried to strike a balance between looking like all hell is breaking loose and still being playable, I'll have to work harder on that next time!
I'll look into the sfx mute issue...if possible if you could PM me and let me know which sfx are still playing and when then that would be a great help.

Great but add an option to turn off explosions. The boss is easier than the level because you can't see where are the bullets when killing a lot of enemy

Game makers please take note this is how a retro top down space shooter should look.Loved the original and looks like im gonna love his too.Hope to get some badges for it at some point but fot now its a 5/5 from me well done.
