Nice game, but since there is no invincibility time between hits (not even between life lost), when covered by smoke you can lost SEVERAL lifes in mere seconds. This greatly pushes up the difficulty.

Difficulty is a bit off IMHO. I'm not super-twitchy, but I'm not horrible either. I'm sitting on level 8 with maxed out upgrades and pretty much giving up in frustration on getting further.

I hate that you have to relaunch the game every time you fail a level. Great game otherwise, but that ruined it for me.

I really liked the game but when it got to about level 11 it was almost impossible to distinguish one thing from the other and so I quit after fair amount of trying, but great game.

yeah I do that :) ....with a shield on your best bet is to sit right in the middle of all the enemies, of course you need to get out of there before the shield runs out.

two complaints: 1. whoever sent the pilot that letter (the description) has obviously never seen combat. these guys are f*cking tough. 2. it says you have 1 life left, yet its game over if you lose it.

Retro top-down shooter with great graphics, intuitive gameplay, and autofire? Excellent! The "pixel-fox of space-war" that happens when the screen starts filling with dead baddies and their loot is actually a great part of the game and challenge. The only thing I want is more upgrades to buy! If I can repeat levels for money, then I want something to spend all that money on; perhaps various types of weapons that could be purchased and upgraded, and equipped to the 8 firing points on the ship.

I'm just gonna repeat what I said to yaykitties here...
it's actually tracing bullet paths into the bitmap graphics for collision purposes: take a look at how your bullets hit the bosses right on their pixels instead of any surrounding hit-box. The same technique is used for all collisions. I don't wanna blow my own trumpet (but I will anyway), the collision detection in this game isn't perfect but it's a _lot_ more accurate than in nearly all other flash shooters.

I really liked the game. The only improvement I could think of is that many of the things I want to collect look almost like all of the things I'm trying to avoid. Any chance you could change the color of the bullets or change gold coins to something else?

Gets too hard to dodge bullets with a rain of pickups and explosions at the same time. I'm fully upgraded at level 9, due to having to grind for money just to survive, but level 9 boss was easier than just getting to him! The visibility is the biggest issue right now. Perhaps, as a suggestion for your next game, the player could just earn money from kills with the occasional pickup instead of having to collect all of his money from a rain of coins.

I ususally wait till im finished with a game until I post a comment about it. But I have to stop now and say this. GREAT GAME. the eye orgasm+ great music+ fun gameplay come together perfectly, thank you
sorry about that :( ..... I realised that was stupid even before I released the game, but by that point I was totally exhausted and feeling too lazy to go back and change it... I promise I won't do it again.

A good game, but the visibility makes it really hard to see. Also, the smaller bronze coins look too much like bullets. It got difficult enough to play due to visibility that I quit fairly early in the game, but it's a good start in the right direction. maybe have an option for turning the smoke effects off?

The only thing I don't like, is how if it's meant to be a bottom-up scrolling shooter which the travel direction of the coins and bonus items suggests, then why on earth do enemies spawn from the bottom? It just seems odd to me, considering you can't pick up the items without putting yourself in the path of the oncoming ships. For the sequel please make powerups static, disappearing after a certain time period, instead of travelling to the bottom of the screen. _________
I found the game too difficult in the later stages due to visibility, simply too much was happening on the screen at once and the waves of enemies overlap so that area at the edge of the screen that is safe from bullets isn't safe from the next spawn of enemies. To stand a chance i'd have to replay earlier levels to grind extra lives. I'd imagine a more skillful player could get further but it's still a case of how many lives have you got because the ship is too large and the health is too small.

I like a good bullet hell. This is not a good bullet hell. Hitbox is too big, too much crud is on the screen at once which inhibits dodging, and the prices for upgrades are inanely high.

Fun game, only complaint is that its a little too busy. Couple of suggestions that might help. Have the enemy fire on a layer in front of all the explosions/powerups etc, add a thin border of black around the outside of enemy fire so that they show up when overlayed over explosions/powerups, have the screen do a quick little flash affect when your getting hit.

I am past level one but I get confused by the music every level... robot gotta be telling me "level one" during every level even tho it's not one.
um yeah - that was stupid of me: when I first heard the music I thought "that'll sound really cool when you're playing level 1", but I didn't think "yeah but it will sound really stupid on every other level"....by the time I noticed I was too far in to wanna go back and change the music so I stuck with it

I am amazed!! Its nearly perfect. Of course I still have minor suggestions, bloody spoiled perfectionist that I am ;-)
1.) Magnet could use more power, especially in the back of the ship. You barely have the opportunity to pick up anything from the enemys that come from the bottom.
2.) The Music is to awesome to drown them in the games sound fx. I would love to be able to lower/increase volume on sound FX and music with separate sliders.
3.) Visibility is always THEE challenge with shmups. Lowering the ammount of coins on the screen ("rich" enemies only dropping 1 high value collectible instead of 3 mid-value collectibles might be a good way)
4.) The repulser... I donno. Might just be personal taste, I might just be to stupid to active at the right moment... but I would prefer the repulser to have a meter that decreases while I hold the mouse button, instead of it being one shot thing. (hope you get what I mean)
those are all good suggestions - I know exactly what you mean about not having enough time/magnetism to grab stuff from enemies at the bottom of the screen. Also concerning the repulser: I did think about doing it exactly the way you describe it and I still think it might be better that way, the only reason I didn't was a kind of laziness - it would have required a tiny bit more work and I already felt like I had too much on my plate, so maybe next time....

Great game like has been said before visibility can get pretty bad. Easiest way to fix would probably be fx options, but it might be kind of cool to have the repulsor have the 'passive' function of pushing away smoke from the ship with the range and speed of smoke movement being determined by how upgraded your repulsor is and how close you are to the smoke. It looks really cool so it would be a shame to get rid of it too much.
hey thats cool! the repulser pushing smoke idea could be a winner, 'cuz like you say it would be a shame to remove too much of the chaos fx, but you do need to be able to clear space just so you can see whats going on - okay I'll put that into my next version todo list, I'm not making any promises, but I'll definitely have a go at it.

I'm at level 10 and i've got all the upgrades by now, i'm finding the level too difficult (and i imagine the rest will be even more difficult) and i can't help but wish i had more upgrades. Of course i wouldn't like an easy game, but i doubt it would become too easy with more ups. Also please fix the mute button. some explosions still sound, and some enemy bullet effects too. 5/5 :)
concerning the mute button: is it still a problem with the new version I just uploaded? - I've just played through the first 4 levels and it's totally silent for me... If anyone else experiences this problem with the latest version (even after a cache-clear/page-refresh), then please let me know and I'll take another look at it.

Great game but:
- bullets are easily missed with coins and stuff, must be more different graphics/colour
- last 3 levels look impossible: my ship is at max levels and I can't do even the thirdlast...
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
Seems very hard to grab even a fraction of all the coins that drop on a level, I want to be able to upgrade magnet abit more... talking about upgrades, 1 more level in everything would be nice! :D
originally the magnet was a lot stronger - you could suck stuff in really fast from right across the screen - I changed that for 2 reasons: firstly 'cuz it often looked like the treasure was 'attacking' you and secondly 'cuz I wanted there to be a challenge in collecting everything even with full magnetism.... having said that I may have made the wrong call on this one and I'll reconsider stronger magnets when I get around to another version.

I just benchmarked the difficulty of the game: I managed to finish the first 4 levels without moving my ship, without pressing a single button. This should be looked at and fixed. A super minor amount of bullets actually reach the spawning area.

Seriously, give me an option to turn of halo effect and smoke. The game is fine and all, but I'd REALLY like to see what I am doing.

Would love to be able to upgrade amount of bullets, or additional firing archs (45 degrees, 90 degrees, etc. instead of 90, then 180). Do like the single upgrades to the firing arcs!, would like a better information about what upgrades does. But rest is nice :D - Alot things that could be di
fferent, this is ok for a "quick little" flash shoot the ufoes game.
