568 days to get this. I had everything completely upgraded except for I was missing a point on the hull from the star upgrades. Killing 3 ships at a time takes forever to hit that 250 ships. Once I was fully upgraded on everything it still took 3-4 tries to take down that bastard! :p

game is quite nice, but ... 1. very linear, you have to go cities clockwise [no other way because of power increase] ... 2. don't buy cargo upgrades, it is only waste of stars and WP ... 3. cargo ships are almost useless, even if it is quite good trade-sim, there is only use for battleships due to large amount of battles ... 4. having three maxed Ships of the Line tried to kill Dutchman three times without success, even shooting it all the time with dynamite i did not kill it, Dutchman always have 50 AP at beginning of round, and doesn't lose AP when hit - my ship do .............. GAME OVER .............. won't play it anymore, nothing interesting in resetting all progress to start

A tip: the hardest part is obtaining the WP needed, not money, so after some preliminary trips (to afford a full fleet), raid constantly, only going to port to repair and sell your loot, for the rest of the game.
Whoa. The best way to fight pirates is to become a pirat- I mean "privateer"? Wow, this game is suddenly historically accurate.
As for my rating of the game, 4/5, mostly because combat was explained insufficiently well. Say it in the tutorial, or at least put a "help" option in that explains what all the stats do, and how targeting things affects the enemy ship.

Game is buggy. At least half of the time when one of my ships is destroyed during a battle, the other ships are unable to attack on my next turn, despite having more than enough AP. No crosshairs icon appears on the enemy ships and clicking on them does nothing, leaving me to either retreat or skip turns until my other ships are destroyed.

To explain, Sail affect Ap, then you can destroy ship by descreasing their AP uder 15. Hull affect Heal, to destroy ship, and Crew affect chance of succesfull boarding, which oneshot ship

Can anyone help me with the Boss? Best ships, everything upgraded, loooots of money, attacking hull with dynamite and i still loose everytime i try.

Glitch. I keep getting stuck in fights where I will attack and then hit end turn and the enemy will go but then I can no longer attack. The only thing I can do is end my turn or retreat but they can keep attacking me each turn. Has happened a couple times now.

The top menu bar seems to block off Pinar's island "What we are looking for" options and i cant tell what they need when i go to trade with them. Can you make it so we can get rid of the bar when sailing?

so finally figured out how to go to the first ship to attack, got killed and now i can't go back, yeah games needs to be fixed and need to find a way to mute the annoying port music as well!
Under rating threshold (hideshow)
this game needs to come with instuctions on how to upgrade and basically do everything, at the port and trying to upgrade and notihng is working so fix that big glitch and it probably be a good game

for anyone that needs help getting gold early on in the game, after you liberated the 2nd island just go to the first island buy all the rice you can hold and then sell it at the second island for profit and repeat.

Difficulty level totally unbalanced: after the intro, the first 1~2 oppenets are weak, then suddenly they become too strong for your ships and you find yourself stucked until you can get enough money with tradings.
2/5

save up WP to study all ship upgrades first, then buy the last on the tree. you gain all the previous upgrades without spending gold.

The combat is a bit confusing. Is there any way to tell how much of the crew I already lost/killed ? Is there any advantage of killing the crew instead of sinking the ship (more loot, or just hull hp vs crew hp) ? An if it's really "the weaker fleet shoots first" the system is flawed. The "weaker" fleet sinking one of my ships, killing the whole crew of the 2nd and halfing the hp of my 3rd one before I even can do anything is retarded.

The town music loops from the point it stopped when you last exited a town, instead of starting from the beginning. Eventually, the town music doesn't play at all, as it loops only the last fraction of a second.

Saving the game doesn't work. I lost all my ships and money after I loaded the game today, and now my sailing domain is around the middle island so I can't even trade. Would have liked to finish the game today but I'm not playing from scratch again.

If you can't attack after one of your ships gets destroyed, you need to click to select one of the other ships. This is caused when ship you used before ending turn gets destroyed.

Awesome game 5/5! Unlocked everything even though you don't need to. I was hoping you got to unlock the flying dutchman after you beat it. Guess it doesn't matter though fully upgraded you're very OP. Thanks for the fun game!

@kelly24601 I recognize this music, it's open source // royalty free stuff by Kevin Macleod. Sacred Seasons (both installments) and many other games use music by this person. So there's nothing legally/creatively underhanded going on here on that one. http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/

Tips for the final boss: Bring three Ships-o'-the-Line. Upgrade the hulls and guns to max on all three. More importantly, enter the battle with over 50,000 spare gold so that you can fire dynamite on each shot instead of normal cannonballs. You CAN kill it by using powder shot instead of dynamite, but expect to lose two ships if you do that. Lastly, tell your ships to aim for the hull whenever possible because the boss has no crew or sails to tear up. Aiming for those locations will just waste shots in the water, and doing so will not lower the boss's AP count.

A nice little touch: Merchant oriented ships on the left cost more raw gold but less War Points than the privateer equivalents on the right. Their stats are geared more towards cargo carrying and crew count than combat. However, trying to play as a merchant is pointless since the final goal is a showdown with the Flying Dutchman anyways. In short... only study and buy ships on the right hand side of the path branch.
My favorite detail is that the ships fire chains and nail shot instead of cannonballs whenever the player opts to aim for the crew. How brutal.

Ugh!!! That feeling when you go to get your BotD, and the bar shoots up to 14/15... Why did I give up one away from the badge!?

Hmm. Battle music is the same as that of Frantic Frigates. Not making any accusations of theft ('cause I don't know what deals people make with each other), but it kind of detracts from an otherwise stellar game. Perhaps get some new music to replace it?

I liked this game, and it is quite interesting and fun at first. However, I don't like how the difficulty of ships increases over the days passed (or maybe it gets harder the better your ship, I'm not sure). Some people do enjoy that, and I respect that, but I personally like this style of game better when it's more laid back. To put it simply, I'd prefer it if you merely encountered more difficult ships in more dangerous areas, with possibly the occasional stray death trap. You might say that this makes it too easy, but it honestly isn't. Take caravaneer, for instance. The first few towns are easy, but as you get further away it ramps up in difficulty. Admittedly that is a permadeath game, and I don't suggest you make this one, but the upgrade to live idea doesn't really work, at least in my view. The days definitely should stay, as that could make some more competitive gamers have something to race over, but I'd just recommend you remove the increasing difficulty of ships. 4/5

A description of the uses of different attacks used to be in best comments, but it appears to have dropped out of view. Summarised, the sail reduces the AP of the opponent, making it harder to shoot (completely removing an opponents shooting ability will make them surrender to you), shooting the hull deals huge damage and shooting the crew reduces the likelihood of a successful boarding (boarding a ship successfully instantly defeats it).

If you get the "Top of Line" ships for all 3 spots, when fighting the Flying Dutchman, make sure your upgrades are maxed and use dynamite while aiming at the hull. You can do 2K-4K damage per each shot.

Is there a bug when you lose a ship? Everytime a ship of mines dies I an unable to do anything but retreat which causes a ton of costs in damages and battles I can easily win.

I would have liked to be able to take over the flying dutchman and play as him with specialized upgrades and stuff for a end game mode. Just for completionist sake
