Just recently I discussed the midas touch with my physics teacher (who also read mythology) and we came up with this as the first problem: the mass. Matter can neither be created or destroyed, so either the gold is basically painted. Otherwise it would have to shrink in size, or the air around it would be converted. So why doesn't the air around him turn to gold? Anyway cool game.

The last level is genius, it took me a few tries to realize its impossible, and that she was already gold, it just made the whole thing seem much deeper, now that our character is alone, after losing the this he chased after the entire game, almost depressing, but I loved it, and I can't wait to see more of your stuff!

I hate this game. I enjoyed the concept, but to end with an impossible credits level with no indication if it's possible, after having invested time is just mean. I wish I had known so I could have not wasted my time.

this credits level is impossible >< i cant make the jump =( other than that great game, but why doesent the water turn gold? the myth was that when midas touched the water his power flowed into the water and it turned gold...

I got to level 4 when I realized that this is from the old Greek of King Midas, who was so greedy he was granted the wish that everything he touches turns to solid gold. He loved his gift, till he ate, the food turned to gold. When he drank, the wine turned to gold. And one day while in the rose garden, he turned his youngest daughter into gold from embracing her.

Great great game! Cool concept, yet simple to pick up. Your introductory levels were great ways to teach the game.
One suggestion...make the "up arrow" do jumping as well. I haven't completed the game yet, so it's possible the up is used for something else?
Thanks for making a great game!

Ahh. This is the same contest that "minicraft" came from.
Pretty good game. Kept me entertained until I finished it, though some levels were annoyingly difficult.

I beat the game, I love the last level, showing that he can never have her. Anyway, I hit M to see the menu and I wanted to select a random level to play but I click on them and they don't send me to the level.

Hi everyone, thanks for playing our game! We hope you enjoy it. If you're experiencing the double Midas bug, could you please get in touch with us? We're working on fixing it!

ive always like these "48 hour" games and such, always so interesting and different. this one was very interesting. i love the turned to gold without the water thingy.

Would be great if you could upgrade ex.longer time to transition 2full gold. And needs a menu to which you can access level's and all that.

Really Great game 5/5 i noticed that there were alot of cases where the block would fall on my head but i would not get crushed and i could just jump up, possibly add something to where it kill if the player is within the block, other than just touching the bottom while it is falling? I dont know how coding works but its an idea. I really love the game though, i would like to see more by you guys.

I love this game. I gave it a 5/5. And I think the last level is supposed to be unwinnable because at the very beginning of the level the girl is already gold. Normally she's black and turns gold only when you touch her.

Bug: Even though Midas is hit by a block, he does not get squashed. Instead, you can jump out or move away if there is an empty space.

Good game, 5/5. However, the gap on the credits levels seems to far too jump. Maybe that's in keeping with the "Alone" theme? If it's intentional that the level is unwinnable, then perhaps a note to that effect should be displayed after 3 attempts.

wow i just completely screwed up the game. there are 3 midas' 2 girls one of the kings is inside a block one is squashed but still alive andone is constantly dying for no reason

These story/allegory games are usually really lame but this one didn't overdo it too much with the text, and the gameplay was actually pretty fun. The minimalistic art worked well also. Nice job.

@ShunKazami Why would you make the graphics better? It's a minimalistic, philosphical game. You don't just make awesome, epic graphics for these. It uses a storyline, where you interpret the words, the sentences, and find deep meanings instead of just literal meanings. The graphics are part of it.

In level 15 she is gold and in early levels if you hit her before you hit the blue block you turn her gold so I think it means the level is impossible since she is already gold.

Fun game. My biggest gripe would be that, like with many arthouse games, there isn't a satisfying conclusion. There's a lot of buildup and no payoff. Still interesting though.

I got the same bug as CharmDragon, and the new set of characters were almost touching, so I couldn't move right without losing the game. (Refreshing brings you back to level 1).

this is incredible. it's a unique and simple concept, but it really illustrates the being ALONE can be more than just physical separation. Amazing that you did the whole thing from scratch in 48 hours... got a timelapse? (ps. did you use a library ie: flixel)

It needs a save! Level 15 or so glitched out on me. I squished myself but finished the level at the same time, then there were two princesses and two Midases on the screen at the same time, and I could control both, and resetting the level did nothing.
