5/5 just for the concept to have a community built game evolve from scratch. But this way this will be lost in the sea of bad games coming out recently. My suggestion is: drop the current version completely, build a stronger (playable and visually appealing) foundation and release it as a "version 2" with committed update cycles. GL

ok so now with these new updates i have another idea to replace the big idea.so you use a action to activate the thingy than it explodes and drops a gun. text then appears and say something about revnge for his family. than it goes back to the girrafe and you pick some berries and then you find a new blue house that you like better and then the human guy shows up with the teleportation gun and steals the house and teleports to where he puts the house. then you go through tutorial plains and you learn the basic stuff and you leran some magic attack like fire breath or something. then when your training is done you get to fight him and when you finish fighting him you can go in the house and he explains to you about the revenge thing and then you can switch to him in character select. also add a button to replay that part of the game.

ok i'm sorry for all the posts but i have another idea.if this becomes a fighting adventure game then you should make it like a little bit after you start another charecter appears out of nowhere and uses a teleportation gun to take your house then he teleports himself and accidently drops a weapon of some sort that you grab then you have to take a journey through the tutorial plains to be able to know the basics of this game like fighting, shopping, etc. and after the end of it you find his base and you get message saying "use what you know to beat him and get your house back" and when you go in you have to kill him and then you get your house back and you can go in it. when you go in you find you have nothing left. Also a inventory button, quest button, leveling system, sp, quests, shops, fighting, save button that works, and a back button.

oh hey! why not some physics type stuff for the plane... having to control it's power of being thrown and direction also!

this is a brilliant idea! blue giraffe FTW. ok. so... from here... paper airplane! very popular! it can... carry things, perhaps! or you can use it to push distant buttons or get at berries your long neck can't quite reach! things like that! what do you think? :)

Can we please stay away from anything to do with wizards, knights and/or the middle ages... how about a cyberpunk theme? ...I can even go with another zombie game. I know there are a thousand of them, but I like them anyway.

Okay, you need a character. And you need to be able to move in space, you need, at the very least, to give players some agency if you want them to care about this project.
Now, 2d will be easiest here, so do we want an overhead view or do we want a side-view platformer type? Personally, I think a platformer could be an interesting venue for RPG style, (seeing as someone else wanted stat increases and progression, which I support).
So, at least for now, platformer side-view, and an introductory stage so that people can jump around and do stupid shit.
Maybe we need a character select screen as well, somewhere people can design their characters to an extent?
Wish partially granted (in a very rudimentary way). Character: Check. Movement, Check. 2D, Check. Side-View, Check. Platformer, Check. Introductory stage: So far, it tells you what the controls are. Half-check. Jump around: Check. Do stupid shit: Not yet, but it's coming. Character-select: Still thinking about that one.

First a splashscreen! Start with a "THE GAME THAT KONG BUILT" splash, then a basic menu: "Start", "Options", "Difficulty", "Credits". I also propose that the "Credits" section will contain the usernames of whoever gets their ideas selected, for posterity.

We need mechanics. I propose a sidescroller. The up arrow makes you jump, left and right make you move in those respective directions, and the spacebar makes you do an action. That action is to throw a paper airplane.

I think you need to provide a more defined starting point. Like, what genre of game you want to make. We can give you all the specifics.. but if someone is telling you what to include in their idea puzzle game, someone else RTS, someone else side-scrolling shooter, someone else Tower Defense, someone else Music, you can't do anything.
That said, I think you should do you best to parody the top games on kongregate. Once you come up with a genre, I will come back and try to provide some specific instructions.
By the way, not sure if you are aware of the 14 day RPG (http://www.bigblockgames.com/games/coffeehero/challenge/) .. but they did something similar.. they had a general concept.. but let the community pick a lot of items and skills and things to be added to the game.
I agree, this is one of my obstacles right now. I was sort of hoping a "genre choice" would float to the top, but it hasn't really happened, so I'm going to go with a sort of action/adventure/RPG and see how many of the features I can work in without causing sense to be lost. Tonight's project is to push through until I've got an actual "player moving around on the screen" sort of thing. Thank you for the input / link

You need an origin. Once upon a time there was a travelling circus who's ship crashed on an distant unpopulated land. Now, after thousands of years, the entire land is populated with their descendants and their culture has been passed down through the years.

The title of the actual game should be "Insert fantasy game title here". It can show up after and/or during the flames.
Thank you! It's my cover of "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin (the first verse, anyway). I arranged it myself, and added some heavy modifications here and there :D
Oh yeah, and I added in the cowbell when Serpentrose requested "more cowbell"

a HOT (yet not brainless) main character, who is not just another throw away sword swinger. im not looking for Shakespeare just a little depth, a little back story to go along with the action. you know a life, wants, needs, friends, maybe a pet....something cute... like a ferret!

multiple weapons that have a verity of effects; burn poison freeze confuse rapid split ect. (oh and a cute ferret couldn't hurt as well)

need a well thought out upgrade system! something where the upgrades are not like "+ 2% to stat X" more like a serious take on UPGRADE COMPLETE or CURSED TREASURE. where the upgrades actually do stuff that is noticeable. (oh and a cute ferret couldn't hurt as well)

An JRPG/Bullet Hell/Platformer with a deep in depth story. Mix the game up with oldstyle final fantasy RPG game play, then top down Bullet Hell shooter(like bullet heaven, found here on kognregate) then have platforming levels. Make a game with a mixture of the best of all worlds. Name suggestion "The Angel Hunter". No zombies

will never work cause pep ole will only find the game in the new games section so after a week once there is actually a game if you even know how to code no one will play it
