May 24, 2013 7:18am How can I get more of the music from Refraction? I am specifically talking about the part where there is a voice that sings “AAAAAAA”.

Feb 7, 2011 10:59pm Trying to play your game and finish it, but your last level is very different from what others have experienced and I cannot find a way to beat it. Tried to use a walkthrough but all those are different versions, if you could find out what is going on I appreciate it. ![]()

Jan 31, 2011 12:53pm For some reason, once I reached level 2-3 or 4 (can’t quite remember) the game crashed, along with any other flash programs I had open at the time. There seemed to be no reason for this. Also, it did not appear to save my game, which was a bit of a bummer. But other than that, it was a good game :D

Sep 28, 2010 12:59am I totally loved this game and am still replaying it because it’s still challenging. I think the trophies really add a lot to the game – though it would be better if you can see the trophy challenge for the level you are playing without having to go out of the level. I really like the music, too.

Sep 19, 2010 3:37am Currently the game forces uses to use what they have, and mostly there is A game that empowers the player to use the tools any combination is much more fun to play and win the game. It allows player to be creative in creating their solution. From there, you can create medals (gold/silver/bronze), gold for using the least amount of reflectors/dividers. And from there, you can modify the game condition, win the game by only using these 3 types of tools for gold. Then the game can be further upgraded to have multiplier instead of division. x2 (1×2 = 2) , x3 (2×3=6) instead of 1/6. show moreCurrently the game forces uses to use what they have, and mostly there is A game that empowers the player to use the tools any combination is much more fun to play and win the game. Yes I think the basic idea can work for other math topics as well. Also this project is just starting and we are going to add a lot more content to the game. We really want to transform math education with this game, and we need to make it teach all of fractions. There are actually a lot of fraction concepts that we do not really deal with yet, like subtraction, multiplication (of fractions), division (like 1/2 divided by 1/3 – this is actually really hard to describe), decimals, and percents. We really welcome your suggestions. I’ll let you know when we update the game. Some additions that we are hoping to add soon (within a month or two): level editor, “editor levels” that require you to design a level with a particular equation, and automatic level generation that will probably not be as good as the hand-designed levels but will allow players to keep trying random challenges. I think we should add badges too. show less![]()

We’re making a card game that is going to use the cards that you earn from Refraction. Also the challenges for getting the cards are going to be better and harder, not just “use 11 pieces in level 3-3” or something. We actually tried a version a while ago where the animal helped out in the game. Unfortunately it ended up like clippie the annoying paperclip from Microsoft Word and we removed it. But we could put a picture of the animal next to the helper popups and tutorial messages. Using diagonals is a good idea! Also I like the penguin idea. It was a combination of game designers, artists, and programmers. Also some of the people in the credits are our advisors (professors in the Computer Science and Education departments) who did not help us program the game but helped us design it. There’s also some more content that we haven’t released yet. There IS a level editor for example, it’s just still a little buggy so we’ll release it next week sometime. show less![]()

Sep 18, 2010 8:54am It would be very nice if you could add something to the extras-section of Refraction where you can use the cards you earn during the game. Was a little disappointed when I completely finished the game and there was no reward in the extras-section… :D But nevertheless, this is a very good game. It´s not surprising that you won a price with it.

Sep 18, 2010 9:41am Awesome game; amazing concept – feel that you could teach kids fractions with this… one thing puzzled me more than anything else… why award prized for using lots of pieces? Surely it is better to have pieces left over (but still get all coins and win)?
