40% of gamers are female, according to the ESA’s numbers, and they play for an average of 7.4 hours a week versus 7.6 hours for male gamers. And only 54% of purchases are made by men. So where are all the good games for women?
The way I rank games goes like this
1/5 = discriminatory or offensive ie “girl games” “rescue teh princess” etc, or just really poor in general http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6p5AZp7r_Q
2/5 = poor but has redeeming factors
3/5 = bland, same-ish OR good gameplay but poor controls or obnoxious graphics
4/5 = pretty good, I had a lot of fun
5/5 = I played this for hours and hours OR really good short game that I would have played for hours if there had been hours of game to play OR pixelly art + good story/interactive fiction style. I’ll generally not rate games in genres that I don’t tend to like, unless I find one surprisingly good.
