OK, if I like you I will add you but if I don’t obliviously I hate you! I like Family Guy, South Park, Futurama, American Dad,And Spongebob. If I say “I love y’all” I mean as a friend. “Old habits die hard.” A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. A rooster crows only when it sees the light. Put him in the dark and he’ll never crow. I have seen the light and I’m crowing. Age is whatever you think it is. You are as old as you think you are. At home I am a nice guy: but I don’t want the world to know. Humble people, I’ve found, don’t get very far. Boxing is a lot of white men watching two black men beat each other up. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Frazier is so ugly that he should donate his face to the US Bureau of Wild Life. Friendship… is not something you learn in school. But if you haven’t learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven’t learned anything. Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn’t matter which color does the hating. It’s just plain wrong. He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life. I am the astronaut of boxing. Joe Louis and Dempsey were just jet pilots. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.” I know I got it made while the masses of black people are catchin’ hell, but as long as they ain’t free, I ain’t free. I know where I’m going and I know the truth, and I don’t have to be what you want me to be. I’m free to be what I want. I never thought of losing, but now that it’ s happened, the only thing is to do it right. That’s my obligation to all the people who believe in me. We all have to take defeats in life. I wish people would love everybody else the way they love me. It would be a better world. Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation. As athletes, we’re used to reacting quickly. Here, it’s ‘come, stop, come, stop.’ There’s a lot of downtime. That’s the toughest part of the day. Even when I’m old and grey, I won’t be able to play it, but I’ll still love the game. I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying. I never looked at the consequences of missing a big shot… when you think about the consequences you always think of a negative result. I never thought a role model should be negative. I play to win, whether during practice or a real game. And I will not let anything get in the way of me and my competitive enthusiasm to win. I realize that I’m black, but I like to be viewed as a person, and this is everybody’s wish. I’m not out there sweating for three hours every day just to find out what it feels like to sweat. I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed. I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. I’ve never been afraid to fail. If you accept the expectations of others, especially negative ones, then you never will change the outcome. If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game. My attitude is that if you push me towards something that you think is a weakness, then I will turn that perceived weakness into a strength. My body could stand the crutches but my mind couldn’t stand the sideline. My heroes are and were my parents. I can’t see having anyone else as my heroes. Obstacles don’t have to stop you.
