Some advice to everyone shooting for the hard badge - try to make your ball as small as possible. Spikes are a lot of help, but reducing the weight of your own ball improves your chances of recovering from the edges.
Meanwhile, am I the only one who can't see how to get the 20 groups for the badge? The current version of the game seems to be maxed out at 15. Anyone else having this issue after making the 140/140 items?
@1ronan1 The issue you're having happens whenever you combine two things that can't be combined. I imagine it's a glitch; darn annoying one too. The only way I've found to deal with it is to refresh the page.
My honest question to the developer: can you, for every playthrough generated, find a solution which will enable you to win the gauntlet?
If not, then this is likely a sign that it has playthroughs which are unwinnable; something which should not be the case in a strategy game.
I'll freely admit that the game is not balanced around the Gauntlet, and many playthroughs are likely to be unsolvable, as is clearly stated in the news announcing the badges. However, I have good reason to believe the bar for completion is significantly lower than most people seem to think.
Nice concept; not that good of an execution. I understand that randomness is one of the go to's for generating "multiple" scenarios to keep the game interesting; but the amount of randomness in this game adds no value. If anything it makes it more frustrating to play with each playthrough. Some things such as the value of the diamond (3-5 coins is the range I've seen so far) or the value of the pawn (cantrip of pawn went from as low as 5 to as high as 12 coins) make it not only difficult to plan but sometimes impossible to accumulate the right upgrades in order to get through the game. Making the price ranges more realistic would already be a massive improvement, or at least fix the value of the diamonds. I can only repeat what I said at the start that making everything random does not make this game more fun.
From level 32 onward I gave up on really planning and just started like a maniac praying I'd find my way out. Great game! I think this is the first time an online platformer left me with shaking hands. 7/5
Just a tip to everyone having trouble with horizontal missles and moving horizontaly upwards. You don't have to jump and draw underneath him You can just draw directly beneath his feet and lift him up like that. It makes things significantly easier.
My only piece of criticism is the lack of a way to remove a single bomb. This isn't really a problem for the first three elements but for Earth it was a bit annoying having to clear all of the bombs if a timer wasn't set correctly. Alternatively, a way to edit the timer would also be great as that would solve the issue as well! Otherwise, great game! Really well balanced, nice mechanics and altogether a lovely puzzle game!
Level 13: stomp the second bat, lick the skull, turn around and eat the third bat to get back to the starting platform, then eat the first bat to get to the platform with the guy
Level 14: stomp on the first bat and get between the spikes and the ghost then stomp again and eat the bat next to the ghost to get to the platform on the right. Stomp the bat next to the platform then stomp the upper right bat to get to the platform with the skull. Lick the skull then drop down from the platform and lick the remaining bat to get to the platform on the left. Then climb up to the platform above that one to reach the guy.
Both of my solutions that got me through those two levels need infuriatingly perfect timing but I managed to get through with them. Hope they help!
There appears to be a bug with the last quest: "Finish all quest and complete Magma Flats". If you finished the game before getting to this quest you can't officially complete Magama Flats a second time. Chuck is well past the end of the flats by 25000ft according to the progress bar at the bottom yet the quest isn't completed. Is the end somewhere further on or is it really a bug? Besides that and a few minor bugs, both of which I noticed in the comments, a nice launcher game!
A great game from a marvelous series! That being said, it begs the question: How does this not have a badge yet?! Blasphemy I say! I bet the Post Office is responsible for this >->
For all the badge hunters out there: buy a pet early on and train it as much as you can. I got mine up to tier 3 and it gave me a massive dps boost. Upgrade the idle traits in the upgrades menu as well.
That moment when you when you reach the end without the key, bash your rocket into the wall and the quests come rolling in to tell you that you've accomplished the last quest and receive the key.
It would be nice if there was a save function or a checkpoint or something of the like that will save your progress if you happen to close the window. Other than that, great game!
Does anyone else have the problem that the screen is cropped to the point that some things aren't accessible? I'm unable to progress due to the fact that the elevator buttons are cropped out...
