Something ain't right with the authentication when using Brave browser. Chrome worked, but I've set it up for quiet cooler fans (not for gaming), so it's choppy.
It's a shame we can't edit our comments here. I'd want to edit out the redundancies in mine, and elaborate that IDK whether the game was made in the Ludum Dare or not, but to me it surely seems to be made in the spirit of it =)
@harry37 Thanks for pointing out the full-game link in the main menu! I'm a bit disappointed that the wrong comment of yours got downvoted, tough. Not as disappointed as with Kong shitting up the user experience for the players and gamedevs alike, by butchering the site's UI, though =P
I think that the bad experiences voiced by some of the users are for real valid - for real. That said, I feel the need to say a few words in the gamedevs' defense. 1) the game *did* come out to imitate titles like "SUPERHOT" and "Hotlie Miami" (reflected in the game's title). 2) Per Ludum Dare's peculiarities, it was often up to the player to learn the game's mechanics. 3) Back when the game was uploaded, there was no *real need* for the in-game instructions. Then Kong killed its userfriendly UI. Now you have to scroll to even see what the game's called, and the sidebar's tab defaults to the Badges tab - the newer users, playing *older* games miss out on the instructions. Some games load 50 times faster now compared to when they were uploaded, so our ADHD has no time to get us bored, and start reading the sidebar. It used to be *given* that we took a glance at the sidebar to read about the game, and its controls, while the game was loading (or when stuck) — the OG Kong experience =)
Also you can try to find a save code and import it via Settings (if you don't care about playing this game nor the Sense of Achievement™). Sometimes it seems to be the only option to get the BOTD in time.
(2/2) If u try 002 & u'll get stuck for hours, u can go to settings and double-click the "Abort Current Run" button. Automation for Runes - once income becomes decent, alternate between All -\> Next, until u can leave it on All, this shall be combined w/ Prestige automation; for Prestige u'd maybe want to leave the Random Reward to On - to get more Worshipers; to kickstart the runs, do the initial Prestiges manually, so u can select which Rune improvements to get (i.e the autobuy & initial worshipers for that initial +% income/prestige gain). On 002 worshippers can be farmed for a while, by setting the auto-Prestige to 50 Magic Runes. Worship starts off fast, but for every +% you'll need more and more time - sometimes it's worth to wait *a bit* for the next level before you Prestige for the extra reward. Unfortunately IDK when exactly the conditions for clearing the 002 in a reasonable time are met. Maybe there's a Wiki page or a YT vid that mentions it somewhere.
Tips for the Second Run badge. Once u reach the "Final goal", u'll complete the Run 000, and the "runs" feature will appear, letting u select the next run difficulty (e.g. ranging from 000 to 002 - can't remember whether after completing 000 or 001). U'll also get a selection of bonuses, and u want to *accumulate enough of them* to be able to beat the Run 002 *BEFORE* u attempt it, else u'll likely get stranded for days it seems, if u only have a small amount of bonuses - if u only have the '+600 starting Mana', these won't push u over the needed threshold. I farmed the 001 b/c there were modifiers like '+Fire Rune income' for a quicker start, although I needed to reach a bit greater goal than w/ farming 000. At first I chose bonuses that followed this logic: faster start = sooner automation = faster Run completion. Then I chose the overall buffing bonuses (e.g. discount & profit all runes), that further sped up the farm & helped to push the final goal. (1/2)
If you experience extremely low FPS, try a different browser (that also supports OpenGL). The 2 browser windows trick works too. Connect to your first window's game via the code, and get a kill. Make sure you do it with the one window, where you're connected to the server (green icon next to your username in the upper-right corner, next to the Game/Achievements/Rate tabs).
I didn't know what was all the fuss about until around the time before I was ready to build HQ lv 10. | Suddenly some features I've used became paid-for - like battle speed, automatic commander abilities & automatic dispatch (guerilla). | If you're an aspiring software dev: it's always a bad decision to take/paywall the features away from the userbase (whales gonna whale, F2P gonna move on to other things that won't waste their time).
Faster BOTD: you're interested in Opening the Puzzle boxes, so in the Town Map select the lowest lvl area, go there & spam Attack-Explore until you see the Puzzle Box. In a new browser window open Dream World puzzle solving tool page. Now with the windows side-by side you can insert the values from the game into 'The Hunt for 4 Green Buttons' or '4 Color Box Solver' & click solve. With other encounters you can either skip or choose the fastest resolve like Bashing the chest or talking to The Wise Man. Buy Energy for 0 from Guardian. Take breaks to rest your eyes.
That timer thing should've been reworked (i.e. initiate the timer & options after a click, but make the time window narrower; let someone read the answers for the first time, at a normal pace & time them when they reach either the right answer (in case dev didn't intend us to read every option) or the last one, so the text length would correspond to the time we're given to choose an answer (as is, we have 9 secons regardless of the text length); let there be options for people who are super fast readers as well as for people with reading difficulties, because people with e.g. dysgraphia are forced to roleplay Dregg Moriss as someone with hearing & sound processing difficulties, which I doubt he has).
— For me this had no other effects than throw me off the right answers, cycling through options, wasting lives, thinking there was some bug.
Then I learned, in case of a wrong answer - choose the same answer the second time, wasting only 1 life. IDK whether this was the intended way.
If the game ran at 30Hz or less, then I'd agree, that Medium badge is doable at medium skillset.
At this state, you'd have to severely limit the CPU (or use a dated one) to gain control over the characters, as manually tapping the movement key for a fraction of a second will move your character varying distances, tens of pixels at a time.
This becomes less of a "5 minute puzzle game" and more of a "platformer, but with a 1200BPM track Guitar Hero reflexes" type of game.
A fix could have been implemented (or a fixed version uploaded, not to mess with the original) retroactively, but it hasn't been done.
2D mode is nigh unplayable due to dramatic game speed increase. Per PianoMeister3's suggestion I tried to set the browser's FPS limit to 60 (via the GPU's Control panel, b/c it's the only way I know of how to control refresh rates on this machine, & sadly I didn't even manage for the browser to use the GPU; CPU graphics control panel doesn't let me choose any other values than the default one). Seems like a game I'd play, though - chill music, puzzle elements, interesting concept... Hope you'll have better luck than me! =)
For those seeing "A nice white box when trying to play with Supernova." Please check your Adblock logs - Supernova is on some kind of list and needs a static filter that allows it.
17th challenge: equip the 100% evade on dodge gadget, leave 1 gunman alive (I used the Twister gun & left a flying one alive). Go to the left corner so he's to your right. 1. Dodge into the bullet 2. Jump away over the next bullet. Repeat until you've made 5 evades in a row. Hope this helped.
Buying the 1st prem gun for 300 will make it somewhat easier. Just have to count your ammo and not end up reloading while a rocket or 2 starts flying your way in a cramped place.
